- Ever wondered what it's like to do a Canal Trip as a family holiday in the UK? We jump on board a narrowboat and show you what it's like to do a three day canal cruise! We travelled from Hilperton Marina near Trowbridge, to Bradford on Avon, on Avoncliff and Dundas Aqueducts, Bathampton and finishing in Bath.

Its a really good idea to hire a day boat locally if you have never helmed a narrow boat, they are normally around 35ft and a bit more nimble that a full size boat

This is a bucket list item for me, and I kind of thought I’d have to wait till the kids were grown to try! We also want to try getting to Efteling, I wonder if we could combine the two somehow.
Oh wow, that sounds EPIC, Angelica!!! That’s a double Bucket!!! A Slam Dunk???!!! The kids were a great help, as long as you’re sure they’re safe enough around water.
What would be a budget for 3 days for boat tour such was yours?? What was you prepare for trip? Some grocery , bottled water , etc..
You get a welcome pack when you get on the boat, so no need to buy washing up liquid and small things. We planned on pub dinners for the evenings so just bought simple lunch meals. We could have easily cooked on board though. As for prep, we watched quite a few UA-cam videos (Canal and River Trust go into good depth) and then planned out how far we’d aim to sail each day. We later found out that lots of people only sail a small amount and spend more time moored up. With your kids’ ages though, I think you’d need to bring an extra adult or two to help with sailing or childcare.

Ha ha. I've not actually read it, but it doesn't seem too dissimilar: people not having a clue how they're going to get on but trying to journal their travels!! 😂
@@LifeOfReillyTV travel full different tasks and adventures !! You may find on you tube English movie , based on novel , may be that way easer to compare your trip and novel trip of X!X century . But I saw a lot”s of similarities !!!

How the kids handle this narrow boat trip?
The youngest one didn't seem to care that he was on the boat, and seemed just as happy inside playing games. The other two really got into it. We let Dylan help with ropes on the last day so he felt really grown up and loved it!
