      When I published this video there was another video, but it showed a less effective way of replacing a battery. Thank you for watching!

      @@WATCHMEGOBROKE Look at 4:25 of the video. There is a small dimple I pressed on to release the stem with crown. The dimple is down into the quartz movement.

    Thank you very much. I was avoiding going to watch shop thinking there could me mechanical problem. It was lying in my drawer for past 10 yrs. Never realised it is quartz. Changing the battery tomorrow. Thanks

      I am glad that the video helps to revive an old watch. Please follow my note about technique of lifting the metal case when getting to the quartz movement. It will keep all hands in place except the second hand, that I show in the video. Good luck and let me know how it goes!

    Great video and very interesting to see how this watch has both a quartz and automatic movement. Even with the zoom the second hand looked so small!

      You are welcome! I am glad that video helped to get your watch working again. You performed a pretty complicated job!

  • @ValentechTime
    @ValentechTime  4 роки тому

    I'd like to emphasize again about the importance of the technique of lifting up a metal plate, that covers the quartz movement. You need to press on the metal part of the quartz movement using small screwdriver while lifting the metal plate. This way quartz movement will stay in place and its hands will be untouched. The only one small second hand should be dropped during this procedure as it is shown on the video.

    Any videos on how to fix a broken second hand axle? I didn't get it lined up properly :(

    • @ValentechTime
      @ValentechTime  Рік тому

      That small second hand? The only way is to replace a gear, that drives it. It'll need to remove a plate from the mechanical part, but more difficult would be to find a replacement. I will consider making a video about this, but it could take a while.

      Unfortunately, I do not have this model at hand, so cannot work on it. There are a few videos on my channel, dedicated to the Fossil Twist line and you can get the idea from looking at ME-1036, ME-1038 and ME-1046 examples. They all use the same principle. Good luck!

      @@ValentechTime it was insane they put a full shield over the battery and then used the smallest screws they could find

    • @ValentechTime
      @ValentechTime  Рік тому +1

      @@tantaluss68 Yes, the design is twisted, the battery should not be hid so deep inside the watch. My video shows the way how to get to the battery without unscrewing those small screws, which keep the metal plate on the top of the quartz movement.

    What is the battery that goes into this watch? I have the ME1123 and need to replace the battery as well. Thanks!

    • @ValentechTime
      @ValentechTime  5 років тому

      The quartz movement inside of my watch is a VX3NE model. It uses a 371 type of battery or 920 type, which are the same batteries. I would suggest to open the watch to confirm that your watch has the same quartz movement (and battery). Also, it could be so, that your Fossil TWIST watch will have two screws holding the metal plate I show in the video. Those screws should be turned a little to release the dial feet. Other steps should be the same as in my video.

      Valentech ~ Thanks! Its astonishing how utterly impossible it is to find the most basic information on this watch! I love the design, but the sheer disregard for the customer really pissed me off. It’s not like I bought a disposable lighter of 50p.... this should be readily available for you and me. It took me more than an hour to finally find the brand and type, to find out that was a brand specific type number. Thanks for your quick reply! I bought the battery and I’m going to give it a go myself as the jeweler won’t touch it and wanted to ship it to fossil. So thanks for sharing your DIY experience!!

      @@jwvandegronden I am glad, the video helped. And I agree, there is practically no info on how to change a battery in this TWIST line of Fossil wathes.

    • @jwvandegronden
      @jwvandegronden 5 років тому

      Valentech hola, n00b here ;-) I completely underestimated the replacement of the battery. Your method worked perfectly, it was smooth sailing all the way, until I hit a snag: refitting the second hand. What a miniature hell! I ultimately (out of impatient fidgety anger) bent the hand so it is useless and in the process I also pressed too hard on the face so now the hour and minute hands are bent as well. I’m such a clutch, killing off a €180 watch. And I had just bought a new wrist band to start wearing it again. Can you advise?! Thanks mate! JW

    • @ValentechTime
      @ValentechTime  5 років тому +1

      Sorry to hear about your experience with the watch. Hands actually could be fixed, if there is not much bend. Did you change a battery, as it was a primary intention? Thank you for saying, that my method worked perfectly, but I am sorry, if it did not lead to the perfect result.

      Sorry to hear about your experience. There are many things that could go wrong while changing the battery in this watch. The person, probably, did not know what's he doing. Ask him what procedure he followed when did the battery replacement.

  • @joseolaguera7785

    This will not work with the ME 1097. Have massively screwed up my watch. Next time I will just bite the bullet and pay for my battery replacement. If you have the poster’s model then you’ll have an easier time for sure.
