    Probably the best DIY in it's price range for anyone without all the tools or space to start from a sheet of plywood. They really sound great and that transmission line bass has strength and texture that is addictive!

    Neil is an amazing guy! I bought the plans from him, and he was incredibly helpful with all my questions.
    The speakers sound absolutely fantastic-you can’t go wrong with this design. I highly recommend getting the flat pack if you're in the USA, or the plans if you're in another country.
    I'm truly grateful for all the support Neil provided!

    Man, what a great video - I love how you're pulling in the community! Showing people what is possible with low cost speakers (better than most people's end game speakers, most likely). The icing on the cake is that Blanchard has a design using Linaeum tweeters; I've been saving a pair for just this! Good job!!!

    Just purchased the NB build manual for the MLTL-6 at $100us.. Looking through it today, everything is included to build the speakers, including links to where to buy the drivers and components. Additional info to upgrade the crossover parts for additional performance. In all a very good detailed 21 page document to get you going. Look forward to the build and listening, this being the most budget diy I have built.

    So great to see YET ANOTHER great review of Neil Blanchard’s speakers. I recently built the Tower 6’s (same drivers but go down to 25hz). I would love more information on how you think they work with tube amps in the 15-20 watt range.

      My 24 watt Prima Luna was great with them. Of course all tube amps will have different sound signatures and performance, so it’s going to come down to subjective preference, but from a power standpoint it’s great. 😊

    Lovely that the designer keep posting under the presentation!
    I have to admit that i am not "fan" of this type of differential (its like opposed horn to me , from the prospective of design ! And can also been more than variation of ported than tl ) in transmission line and i cant find more benefits that the lower group delay. But lets say that is matter of personal taste also! So! In my case the best is to see the floor-standing ones . I believe that alltough we are keeing this space under with stands so why not!!! And also its ended up in a thinner space (not so much depth) . I have to say that for long time i have seen videos from other youtubers (possibly i saw from all that they try! )and from the first moment i have to say that i admire the design (even though my opinions) and mostly the drivers! . I use them often mostly the woofers! The 5inch (and 8 ohm) is my go to every time that a colleague asks for monitor. They are cheap great sound and market killers for them low cost ! Also the 6inch that you use its great in 4ohms!
    Best regards for merry Christmas (as we post 25 of Dec) and keep on !

    Update, in the States one should be able to build the MLTL-6 for less than $1,000us. Just bought the crossover parts from Madi and Parts + stupid shipping cost and the drivers + accessories locally ( Australia ) all up $1497.98au or about $900us . The sheet of ply will cost about $100us, so that's about $1,000us all up and I live in Australia. $1,650au is not a lot of money if this Transmission line speaker is that good ! We will see and update on UA-cam later.

    • @welderfixer
      @welderfixer 14 днів тому +2

      My guess would be helping the time alignment with the tweeter or simply ease of mounting. Due to the extension of the woofer surround and radiused edge of the speaker mount there is near zero chance of "edge diffraction" from the surface mounting. Using another choice of wood for the front baffle or a hardwood inlay around the woofer may improve the appearance. I'm sure Mr. Blanchard gives great thought every detail of his designs. I can't wait until I can afford to build one of his speaker designs. All the very best to you and yours.

    • @justasimplefox

      @@welderfixertime alignment could be a factor, they made a very special cutout in the plywood for the driver so I´m sure there is a reason but it looks strange.

    • @NeilBlanchard
      @NeilBlanchard 14 днів тому +1

      The internal baffles act as asymmetrical bracing, and there is a brace in the most critical spot. Because the terminus is open, there is much lower air pressure within the cabinet, which means the panels are not stressed as much.

      Hmm diy is not for everyone. You should do if you LIKE putting things together. Otherwise buy used for 1000. But there is a price "sweet-spot" for DIY, if 250, then your return on labor is too low, if you invest 20 hours to build a retail 1000 usd speaker. But diy for 5000 and yoh might just buy great speakers. (although I have seen some diy12k usd speakers that copy top Focal, Wilson, Sonus Faber etc that is wow and usually cost + 50k). Personally, I think 600-2000 is a good sweet-spot for diy hifi.
