At 15:30 Bart describes a scenario where the play is to check to your opponent (even with trips). If your opponent ends up with a range comprised of draws or thick value like in this runout where worse trips is viable then the play is to actually check river since you will not miss the value from weaker trips and it gives the green light for your opponent to bluff missed draws

I had a hand heads up in a tournament today 35ishbb effective, I had kh10s in the big blind, he raised to 2bb I call, flop kdkc8s, I check in flow, he bets 2bb I call, turn qc, I check he checks back, river 5c I bet 4.1bb, he jams 28, I tank and then call and he shows pocket 5s. Idk if I should’ve played this different or if it was just an unfortunate situation, what do you think?

Being 2.5 minutes in, I just want to say this is my favorite thing about Bart videos. “So I’m sitting next to my friend who likes to play J3, and this other guy came to talk to us so I wasn’t paying attention to the hand.” I love live poker

After telling us the entire time that he was considering folding on the river, the caller says "I almost raised for value" at the very end of the call. I'm not sure he even knows what he's saying or doing.

Should a hand like A-8 or A-5 suited with two backdoors fold to $60 on the flop? Is a hand like A-7 or A-6 sigh calling a bet on the river, but checking back with showdown value?

In one room I played, when the BU straddled, they started utg and jumped over the button to the blinds UNLESS there was a 3bet pre in which case it would go to the BU before the blinds. The reason I don't like the BU straddle is that the blinds sometimes don't realize it's on them or the utg folds out of turn. It's a lot more work for the dealer to remind people the action has changed.

you really think it's a bet on the turn with multiple people in the hand? heads up I feel like makes sense but even most of the time you should be checking, even that he said his friend was playing pretty loose so betting is probably still good.

I don't even love the turn bet headsup. When he calls multiple people on the flop, even if the rest fold, what does he have that's calling here? I think he is going to have a lot of AX.

right. Except straight draw (and not both Vs supposed to have a straight draw!), there's a reason why other V paid (flop bet) to see turn card. No weaker hand would've called a turn bet. So: turn was a check.

the problem with checking river was not a weaker hand would've bet, but would've called a bet. (any two pairs or a weaker Q). BTW, losing to pocket AA should not be surprise. As pocket 77/66 would've played the same. So: does it matter what you lost it to, as long as you lost it?
