Youp is one of the most important Dutch comedians of the last decades. Did many New Year shows which are a tradition. Famous for not holding back haha. And indeed he’s a great storyteller. When he’s on stage you automatically listen, great stage presence.
He is an absolute rich boomer elite and is perceived as such by the younger generations. Not as bad as his contemporary Freek de Jonge though. I prefer Hans Teeuwen or Theo Maassen, but they are much ruder.
@@MarcFromNijmegen Hans Teeuwen fell off the wagon long time ago. Dude is not sound of mind and used too much cocaine. Theo Maessen on the other hand is still hilarious. Hans just tries wayyyyy to hard and isnt even remotely funny anymore
he's one of the most famous comedians in the netherlands for the last past decades. he singlehandedly bankrupted a beer brand when he said something about hit in his shows
At the time he had lost his drivers license for 4 months for a speeding violation. Youp van 't Hek is very famous in The Netherlands, sadly he recently stopped because his memory is starting to fail him. Which is really unfortunate since he is only 70 years of age.
Herman Finkers is amazing, his comedy is a bit more timeless where as Youp is a bit more about the current affairs of that time. We have a tradition here that goes back for decades where a comedian does a comedic overview of the past year on New Years Eve. Youp did it for years and he took over the tradition from old school comedians and put some much needed new energy in it, Herman Finkers has done one which was IMHO one of the best in decades and some others did a few as well. I particularly liked Micha Wertheim’s edition but his comedy is very surreal at times and a lot of people really missed the point he made. It was very inventive as it involved sections where he was watching himself on tv appearing on other shows and if flicked the channel he was indeed on that other show. It was a very meta kind of comedy, but I was really impressed.
His comeback with that story of the girl came after the break of the show while the guy shoutimg driver's license was before the break so he did take a little bit of time to craft this response. But what a response it was :P
For Christmas you HAVE to check out his Christmas song Flappie. I believe there's a video with English translation. Flappie has become an important part of Dutch tradition.
Youp succeeded in getting Buckler beer (introduced in 1988!) off the market in 1989. Buckler was an alcohol free beer (a then a pretty new concept) and after he made some remarks about that particular beer on his new year's eve TV-show nobody ever dared to order that beer in a café anymore... Buckler was a brand name of Heineken. (probably the most famous brewer world around?) There's even a (sorry, dutch only) wikipedia page about Buckler: nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buckler
This is the sole reason why Heineken did not develop and/or marketed any 0.0% or low alcohol beer worldwide. Due to the fear of negative backlash from Youp and the public they were the last Dutch (big) brewery who launched a light/non-alcoholic beer. And the only reason they did it was to grab a hold on the American market (where light beers are common). A fantastic and very influencial comedian!😂😂😂
@@peterpel8305 Actually Bavaria also made alcohol free beer after buckler was already destroyed and they made loads of money with it because they had a contract with the US military during the gulfwar! And Buckler is still produced and sold in many countries but it is just not sold in the Netherlands anymore sinse shortly after youp his sketch about it! In France for instance you can get it in any supermarket!
This is when Youp first got his big(ger) audience. (No English subs I'm afraid. It's about the system all or at least most people are trapped in: a system of borrowing (lenen) and paying (betalen). The most recognised part starts at 1:35 in the YT film. ua-cam.com/video/wp4D388Ydlk/v-deo.htmlsi=BttOA0O7Hi_unpnX

Nouja, of hij het met die paar opmerkingen de bietenbrug op geholpen heeft... noem het de druppel die de emmer deed overlopen.
great comedian, I love his Ikea bunkbed story a lot as well.
At the time he had lost his drivers license for 4 months for a speeding violation.
Youp van 't Hek is very famous in The Netherlands, sadly he recently stopped because his memory is starting to fail him. Which is really unfortunate since he is only 70 years of age.
only 70 lol in what time is 70 young lol. 70 is fking old.
Ow, now I understands why he’s rolling up his sleeves. It’s hilarious 😂
Herman Finkers, if you can find a video with English subs. He's really good with puns and has a very dry humour.
Puns don't translate too well, but his delivery itself is great and might translate.

It’s nearly Christmas. So there is one thing you absolutely have to check out. Every Dutchie already knows what I’m about to say….. Flappie!
The American rock artist Todd Rundgren recorded a few years ago an English version of Youp's song Flappie
@ I know. I send it to my English speaking friends every year around Christmas 😂
Hans teeuwen is great too Mert.

A really funny and relatable one is his sketch about the Ikea bunkbed.

Youp destroyed the first 0% beer brand years ago 😅
Youp is the absolute best dutch comedian of the last decades
Classic dutch comedy show takes about 1.5 / 2 hours and rotates every 2 to 3 year. Youp has done this for 40 years.
For Christmas you HAVE to check out his Christmas song Flappie. I believe there's a video with English translation. Flappie has become an important part of Dutch tradition.
upvote pls..

_Ronald Goedemondt_ and _René van Meurs_ are my favourite comedians.
My favorite by far is Herman Finkers, lovely dry humor.
And Herman Finkers is very funny without always attacking and insulting other people. That is what I don’t like about many other comedians.
@moniquevandoorn8347 Well said, same here.
Oh yes.... Do that one about the Ikea bunkbed. Seldom seen a comedian rage like that; it is lovely.
i like flappy

His brother is a famous hockey player and coach
Theo Maassen , Jochem Meijer, Patrick laurij , Hans Teeuwen , and comedy and satire series on tv draadstaal, luckytv, toren c , and koefnoen
The police took his drivers licence for speeding. So at the time of that show, he didn;t have one.
Also, this year he retired.

Another funny video from Youp is "aangeschoten in de stad" from his show "wigwam"
