He's actually one of my favorite characters. People like to call him a blank slate or say he doesn't have a personality but I'd have to disagree. Ginko is a pacifist above all things, he wants to show others that the unknown to you is just as unknown to them. He chooses to go see Tanyuu Karibusa and tell her of stories about encounters with mushi and give her hope that her ailment can be fixed without suffering. He's just a nice guy. He's curious and brave and deeply cares for the concept of "life". Hell he got stabbed in one of the episodes and still returned to help! I absolutely love Ginko, because it's not just his purpose to live a life like this, it's a choice he's made.
best scene of this episode was at the very end, when he was leading the mushi to a larger body of water instead of living alone in a small pond like that. he’s so compassionate towards both humans and mushi, i just love ginko sm
Honestly though! The man takes a stabbing in one episode and still tries to help! Ginko is just a very good person to all; living, non-living, and the in between
When I was watching the first season, I didn't realise that every and each episode isn't really about a guy, traveling from one village to another. This series touches so many issues and so for example this one, in my opinion, is about suicidal thoughts. "A place, which is even more lonely, because you don't feel anything, *you don't have body* ". Especially the last scene in this episode, I remember my heart was pounding like a drum, I was so scared this girl would loose.
One of my favourite moments in the series. It almost made me cry because I too was really lonely at the time so I could relate. But mushishi is just one of those anime's that heals your soul if you're going through a hard time. It deserves more recognition than it gets.
For some reasons in this scene, i felt like ginko feels bad for those fragile creatures...even though they dont have souls they are still trying to leave the dark place to a lighter place... this anime is just too underrated
He's devoted his life to them, maybe it is pity but he does everything in his power to make everything right. He likely relates to them on a very base level and feels he himself can never really live among the living. He is a mushishi and his profession has to be his life, whether he likes it or not, similar to mushi themselves.

probably one of the best anime ever. And we dont even talk about the Music. be serious, this anime change my way of thinking about life. it took me more in direction of shintobhuddism and animism and im very, very happy for this change. this anime should be used as education. i never see a other show so deeply like mushishi. either the music. im glad i can listen to this till my end comes.
So mizukagami disappears after noticing its own form it appears. For beings of flesh and blood, even when their characteristics are reflected back, hardly we notice where its going. Get a man who looks at you like Ginko looks at mushi
I always cry in this scene
Whenever Ginko find someone who lost their hope to live, Ginko tries to become their hope.

This series is gorgeous in every way. Writing, animation, music...
No one know loneliness more than Ginko. All the yeara he spent traveling all by himself. And still has heart to keep going and exploring.
i cry at every single episode of this anime and idk if it's bcus it's that good or if i'm just an emotional wreck
It's both for me 💯
Both, i'm kicking my younger self for not picking up this anime sooner
if you throw your life away,
you won't even have the capacity to feel regret.

I keep picturing him as a young, white haired Mads Mikkelsen.. It fits & I don't know why.
Omg if netflix would made this as a series with mads as ginko, its gonna be great!!
I wouldn't be surprised if Ginko was modeled after him.
thats crazy ! same thoughts here

This anime reminds me of Natsume book of friends. I like this kind of story and art.
Underrated Masterpiece.
Fue una de mis series favoritas por mucho tiempo🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗

oooh thought about starting this series since I'm already done with natsume
I definitely recommend. It's my second all time favorite.
