I found the English audio and western guitar for what is an old era japanese supernatural show distracting honestly. The song is fine but it didn't belong in the context of this anime in my opinion. I mean even when Mononoke went with an accordion effect there was the understanding that it worked for the quick and light hearted tone of the show. This song just kinda feels like they picked it because it happened to be popular at the time. I always skip it when I watch the show.
@@Chromeberd I can see where you're coming from but I actually had the opposite feeling, and it's one of only a couple openings I don't skip as a result. I think this song perfectly complements the tone and atmosphere of Mushishi: tranquil and relaxing, but somber and lonely at the same time. Something I've almost come to expect from anime is an upbeat pop single in the opening which often clashes with everything else, but with Mushishi it sets just the right mood for the stories to come so it's always felt natural to me despite the difference in time period (although the otherworldly setting of the series has always been sort of displaced from time in my mind anyway). I wouldn't say the same for the intro of the first season though, I share your thoughts more for that one.
@@dailyderealization120 I mean, I can certainly compliment it for not going with something more traditional in anime. You don't see western songs very often in openings. And you are right, it's a softer toned song that compliments the shows tone as well. But I think something less focused on a specific situation that this songs lyrics imply would have worked better. As well as something a little more gaged towards the shows supernatural tone. As an example there's a reason why X Files works so great since whistling isn't a traditional instrument and the rhythm and unusual tones do a good job at giving off something not of this earth. Shivers is just a little to set and seen as a sad song about a specific relationship. Which doesn't really translate well to me as something that conveys what Mushishi is entirely about. As I said before though. It does reflect the overall tone that you're not going to see much action. And it's a safe choice as far as something that won't grate on the watchers nerves so it gets that much right at least.
I think back to when every single day meant something new to me. All I do nowadays are pointless gestures of forced and fake happiness. I crave the feeling this song gives me. Nostalgia doesn't even begin to cover it. This song is like the memories I want back.

This song/ music video is incredible. I see it as a story if regret. Oh lovers lost to time. There are two sides to love; his and hers. The music, that's her. Young, but wise. The video, that's him, old remembering the love of his life only after his life itself seems fleeting. Amazing. Sorrowful, melancholy, yet hopefully. Certainly a masterpiece
What about the phrase "I leave *him* just for you? Maybe its another story, of two friends or two sisters who relation got fractured of loving the same guy?
@@lionheart4424 it may have several meaning 1. Just hoping all the best for his ex lover with his new girl 2. I'll leave him, just for you( the him may refer to the girl's current lover/partner) She would leave her current lover to get back with his ex
He made a playlist for me and added this song. My heart has never seen it more clearly. I will in this lifetime and the next always remember the beauty of his soul, the gentleness of his heart, the value of his tears, his gaze across the room, his scent that traced his hoodie, the love he has in my heart. And I love you, but now from afar.
It's sweet that even after all these years he still cares for her in his heart. It really is. Because I can totally relate to the idea that true love never dies. But I hope this is only something he does like once a year to remember her. I hope in his advanced age he has a family that brings him great joy and happiness, and that the rest of the year he feels loved. unrequited love is the worst.
I love how feelings like this are universal. It's the worst but at least we can say that at least we've loved even if there was no guarantee it will be requited
Here from Mushi shi. Sat in the car in the dark last night listening to this while partner was in the shops and thought about The Only One I Let Get Away From Me 30 years ago and wondered whether he's even still alive. Gives me goosebumps- best not to listen to it too often.
Found this song from the anime series "Mushishi 蟲師" 13 yrs ago when I was in middle school. This song used to give me a feeling of tranquility with a bitter taste. And as I have grown up, it reminds me of all the regrets in my past. "If we turn back time, could we learn to live right?"
I was going through a bad break up when I first started watching Mushi Shi and I cried the first time I heard this song. Fast forward 4 years and I’m soo much happier than when I first found this song. I just wanted to remind you that pain is temporary, the only reason you can truly enjoy the highs of life is because you know what it feels like to be low. It will be ok, just trust the process.
The director of the show was actually asked this question last weekend. He said that he wanted a song that didn't necessarily have related lyrics, but evoked the image and the feeling created by the show itself.
@@ImGaybriel That was going to be my answer before reading your comment about what the director said. Great choice for a great anime, by a great director, if you ask me!
Listening in '23 after hearing this 10 years ago and the song is still beautiful to me but the video really struck me this time. I feel they did a great job of capturing that man's happiness in revisiting their (he and his wife's) old favorite spots but I also still felt a DEEP sadness for the fact that she was no longer there with him. I couldn't help but think he was also very sad for that since his returning to those places clearly shows (to me) he still thinks of her and the time they spent there together. Wow- What a piece!
No way. I must say watching this video really hit me deeper than listening to the song. And it's sad, and it's brilliant. It's real. I feel it and enjoy every emotion.
This song has accompanied me through three years of severe depression and unrequited love while I was at university abroad. Thank you for this song! It hurts and numbs the pain at the same time.

About 4 years ago I was really depressed because I was in a really bad relationship and I was so sad and hurt, all the time... And I googled something along the lines of "list of underrated sad songs" 'cause I really just wanted to sit down and cry it out. And I found this beautiful masterpiece on that list. Literally how I wanna remember the one I truly fall in love with. Loving her even after she's gone and never finding someone else. For she was the happy ending I never expected to have but happy I found.
You let her go physically but true love doesnt let go emotionally you will love her even though your alone even though it hurts reminiscing of your past together
I still remember the first time I heard the song when I was 14 or 15 years old. This song brings back so many of the memories from back then. Now 22 years old, I literally still gets goosebumps when I hear this song!
this pandemic makes me think a lot of thing i hate getting older i hate watching my parents getting weaker im so scared of dying and losing my family and friends i wish i can turn back time and becoming better friend/son and spending more time with them
Honestly the BEST time to do this would have been years ago. The second best time is right now. Don't let yourself have the same regrets when it's too late to change things.
I just came across this and this song immediately gave me chills and I ended up bawling half way through. It was a very sad but good cry that I needed. Thank you. This song is beautiful and touching.
I lost this song for years. I would often get it stuck in my head, but just the melody. I couldn't remember the artist, lyrics or title of the song. It was like trying to remember a dream you had after waking up. At times I wasn't even sure it really ever existed. But then, one day, a part of the lyrics came back to me. It was like finding an old friend again. My heart feels full after listening to this again.
Nights without sleep, nights when my body is tired, but my mind is wide awake and can't stop thinking. Listening to this song always puts me in that relaxed phase when I can turn off my brain and have a rest.

I've never cried this much to a music video.
This is one of my favourite things on the internet. It wasn't even one minute since the video started and I was crying.
I'm still crying.
Beautiful, perfect.
I'm speechless
your comment made me sad but then I read your username and saw your profile picture and laughed 😭😭
+TheOinache The best of both worlds.
Now you made me laugh, but I'm probably going to rewatch the video and I'll end up depressed, again.
Hugs~
Everything was perfect till you misspelled beautiful.
My OCD just went berzerk!
Bring me the milk Mother Your English is perfect. That must've just been a typing error. But yeah, you're welcome. :)
+Dwayne Johnson Oh my God thank you so much!!!
My first language is spanish, which is really different and I also never check my comments before posting them, so yeah, any kind of correction you can make, will help me!
Thank you so much!
This music is soooo much Mushishi Feeling... Too Good 4 me to handle.
Its so many Mushishi feelings that its too good 5 me to handle
the season 1 Op music was greattoo, but i prefer this one! Sooo peace :D
The feeling is so complicated, and our lifetime just wasn't enough to decipher the meaning
This song was recommended by someone i loved soooo much. I hope he's doing alright, and i hope he knows how much i loved him, he's special. He deserves the world..
this video is so sad and the lyrics just tops it off :(
crying like a little baby rn.
Pray I don't get to you before the police get you bc I am Lucy Rose and I am wanting you to read between these line ibam pressing charges and going all the way
This song/ music video is incredible.
I think about this comment everytime I listen to this song.
Here from Mushi shi.
Sat in the car in the dark last night listening to this while partner was in the shops and thought about The Only One I Let Get Away From Me 30 years ago and wondered whether he's even still alive.
Gives me goosebumps- best not to listen to it too often.
if you hear this when you are depressed it feels like a kick directly to the heart :'v

This was a jawdropper!
Ginkos adventures changed my life.
Thank u Lucy and ofc Mushi shi!
Thanks mushishi for introducing me to this beautiful artist
This song makes me think of how time never stops for anybody and how fast it can go by sometimes
Don't let tomorrow get away from you.
This song deserves so much more attention.
I rediscovered this gem today and I'm so happy about it. Feels good to cry every once in a while.
Mushishi is beautiful... This song is beautiful... And for a brief moment, I thought life is beautiful...
Why for a brief moment?

I was going through a bad break up when I first started watching Mushi Shi and I cried the first time I heard this song. Fast forward 4 years and I’m soo much happier than when I first found this song. I just wanted to remind you that pain is temporary, the only reason you can truly enjoy the highs of life is because you know what it feels like to be low. It will be ok, just trust the process.
fast forward 6 years and im still struggling. everyone has their time...
Thank you…I’m going through a breakup rn and wanted to hear this
masterpiece❗️
Found this gem while watching Mushishi: The Next Chapter, I'm loving it, how is Lucy not among greatest artists ever..
a truly underrated anime.
Yeah same... I know this song because I watch mushishi. Good anime. Good OST. love them.

Got here from Nogla ! What a beautiful song.
i come sometimes to this song just to clean my soul and forget about everything, Lucy you are such a talent...
I don't know how this came to be the theme tune to Mushishi, but i'm glad that it did.
I'm agree :)
The director of the show was actually asked this question last weekend. He said that he wanted a song that didn't necessarily have related lyrics, but evoked the image and the feeling created by the show itself.
I agree with you so much!
***** He succeeded perfectly.
@@ImGaybriel
That was going to be my answer before reading your comment about what the director said.
Great choice for a great anime, by a great director, if you ask me!
Mushishi n this song make the enjoyable vibes
Mushishi FTW!
This song always remind me those feelings of mushishi's stories.. incredible.

+roraio Probably not very related to this song, but check out the album chants of india! have been where you are and listening to it has meant a hell lot to me personally. give it a try maybe
Sachit Nagpal Thanks! I have listened to India since her first single, but I will check out her album! And good luck getting over what you're going through at the moment! Be strong! :)
+roraio thank you !! :)
though this is an album called chants of India which is produced by George Harrison and composed by pt. Ravi Shankar. Do give it a listen :) cheers
Sachit Nagpal Oh OK. My misunderstanding. I thought you were referring to the little known English singer India. Thanks for your suggestion again. I will definitely give it a try!
This song is f___ing amazing.
About 4 years ago I was really depressed because I was in a really bad relationship and I was so sad and hurt, all the time... And I googled something along the lines of "list of underrated sad songs" 'cause I really just wanted to sit down and cry it out. And I found this beautiful masterpiece on that list. I've been obsessed with this song ever since. 💖
I hope you are better.

We only live throughout memories. This is my 40's old self reliving. He should have recalled more than her memory.
I will listen to this song for every day of my life.
Thank you Mushishi.
fumo a late one but i also promised this too, for life mate!!
I still remember the first time I heard the song when I was 14 or 15 years old. This song brings back so many of the memories from back then. Now 22 years old, I literally still gets goosebumps when I hear this song!

This is one of my favorites songs .
this pandemic makes me think a lot of thing i hate getting older i hate watching my parents getting weaker im so scared of dying and losing my family and friends i wish i can turn back time and becoming better friend/son and spending more time with them
You will one day come to terms with the fact of death. It comes to everyone.
Same here. 💔 especially since I lost my mom in January
Honestly the BEST time to do this would have been years ago. The second best time is right now.
Don't let yourself have the same regrets when it's too late to change things.
Your parents are still young and so are you
our time is short, try make the best of it and you family know you love them and spend time with them
This song is about wanting something you can no longer have.
Just found this song, sitting here weeping still 2 years after my son's mother left me. Growing is hard, good music helps

Gracias mushishi, por enseñarme esta hermosa canción.
This entire album is terrific. I especially love Bikes, and the video is pretty funny. She can play a guitar.

both lyrics make sense..
I can't express how much I love Mushishi.
This song warms my cold heart.
