I really appreciate you taking the time to do this video! I see so many, many mixed media artists using gesso, gesso, gesso in their projects. I personally don't like the grittiness of gesso on my page. I was really wondering if I needed to use it or if I could use something else. In fact I did want to use acrylic paint, and now I know that I can. In fact, I was going to ask a couple of artists why they use gesso. I really think for many, it is to add more texture. I've been wondering why you use the school glue instead of the regular Elmer's? I just read somewhere that the school version isn't permanent, as it's designed to be washed out of clothes, so it will break down if you get it damp/wet.
Question I am a beginner. I want to start painting landscapes particularly trees, forests, etc. I love texture in the old oil paintings. If I were to try doing texture but with acrylic....should I use Gesso thick body?
Acrylic paint is best. Gesso normally is white and could be used as white paint on your gelly plate. Matte medium is usually clear so you can use that after your paint dries on plate and pull up your print. I will do a video showing both
Correct me if I'm wrong but it appears that you a smearing the underlying paint with your application of the gesso or medium or whatever. There tends to be a light colored, watercolor-like halo around the gessoed area which is not intended.
So lets say you have a print on paper that you printed out and want to transfer to wood..... the tutorial i have says to use liquitex medium but all i have on hand is gesso... can i use that instead?
.. I've once seen an artist's video where she was sanding her clear gesso over to a smoother surface ... Her name is "Ana Bagayan".... Maybe you could try that too ?

I know some people use wallpaperglue instead of gel medium/gesso. Much less expensive. Have you tryed it?

My journal pages stick together when I use mod podge (matte). What can you recomend. I don't like the finish clear gesso gives my paintings.

Is ceramcoat all purpose sealer similar to gesso?
