I use this lens with my Ursa G2 and P6K Pro. Best buy ever . Just to mention if someone doesn't k ow that :
This Tokina 11-20 CF has exactly the same optics with the Cine version that cost 5 times more. Also is parfocal. Basically the Cine version has a metal housing and a 300 degree focus throw and that's it...
Buy this 11-20 CF instead of the Cine version, you save 5 times the money, you get the same lens and the CF version is very light compare to cine.

Hey Bill, thanks for your input but I'm actually a bit confused now. I contacted Tokina and asked specifically if their 12-24 AND their new 11-20 CF Photo Lens are parfocal. They explicitly told me that it's not the case that the 11-20 has some slight focus shift. The Cine-Versions are expensive for a reason: they are truly parfocal and can also be shimmed and adjusted to get parfocality on every mount. Andre also correctly pointed out @7:07.
You claiming it being parfocal is kind of a stretch now. Do you have footage to back up your claim?
I still think the lens has incredible value and is an amazing lens before upgrading to the 11-20 Cine.
Also here attached the answer from Tokina:
_"Tokina 12-28mm and 11-20mm are not parfocal, but not varifocal. That is, when changing the focal length (zooming), there is some slight shift in focus, unlike Tokina Cinema lenses, where there is no focus shift. Therefore, when the focal length is changed, the focus must be corrected."_

@@AndreCorreaNow I had ordered the lens before I watched your video and I can confirm everything you mentioned so far. Thanks for your effort putting this up and pointing important features out (who on earth claimed this to be focus by wire?!)
About the parfocality: It is definitely not 100% parfocal but "almost" not noticeable (and I'm really, really picky about this stuff). Depending on where you set your focal plane (subject either at farthest/nearest edge on the focal plane) you can get the hang out of the slight shift happening when zooming in or out. I would not recommend it for high-end productions in which tack sharp focus is crucial and planned lens zooms are a necessity but you can get away with it on documentary work for example.
The Cine Version definitely has it's perks and features needed in a high-end professional working environment: Longer focus throw, machined focus gears and the possibility to shim are just professional features I wouldn't want to miss on sets like those. And lets not forget the ability to adapt these S35 cine zooms on VistaVision sensors withe the Tokina 1.6x expander! And of course the mechanics providing parfocality.
The 11-20 CF is definitely a good inexpensive step for filmmakers before buying into the Cine versions, even if just as a quick-to-throw-on lens. And lets be honest: Their Cine lenses are totally affordable compared to much more expensive brands while providing professional features, good optics and coatings AND for being somewhat future proof down the line.
I have to say Tokina is THE lens manufacturer I really admire for their work these days.

Phenomenal production quality, value, and script.
Thank you sir! I research the Sigma 18-35 and the Tokina 11-20 mm f2.8 as a main lens to use for UA-cam and other online content and your video provided plenty of information to consider.
    Keep up the great work!

Im using Tokina 12-28 F4 with Metabones Speedbooster, Tokina 50-135 2.8, Tokina 16-50 2.8 and also used Tokina 16.5-135, but last was damaged during close shots in football game. But it’s hidden treasure for m43 cameras using speedbooster. I mostly like 12-28 on my Glidecam HD2000, it was very versatile for reportage scenarios, like Canon 17-40 on FF

I also ditched the canon lens as its f-stop was just too dark for interior shoots. The 2.8 is a revelation. Also, the clutch AF is easy to live with. I dont shoot blogs but corporate and facebook commercials so every shot is planned meticulously and combined with the sigma 18-35 and the hasleblad lens on the dji mavic 2 pro etc covers a lot of the bases. Definitely recommend the Tokina

    Great unique video review.
The intro part looks fantastic, so much so I got scared a bit lol, forgetting about camera gear.
This lens came down in price, selling for $350 now, Dec ‘22.
With Canon latest AF dual pixel technology, focusing shouldn’t be an issue with it.
In both Canon M or R mount you can use rear filters with the proper EF adapters.
I placed my order last night before watching your video and if is good, I’m returning the Canon EF-S 10-18, great value lens but now that the Tokina price came down, is not a brainer.
My only concern about the Tokina is chromatic aberration, hopefully it can be corrected in camera for video, since I read somewhere this lens or the previous version has quite a lot of CA.
Thanks for putting together this revie.

    • @AndreCorreaNow
      @AndreCorreaNow  Рік тому +1

Sigma makes an MC-21 adapter that will enable you to mount the Tokina 11-20 mm on the S5ii. I haven't tested how well the aperture or focus functions will work. But, it should.
Also, keep in mind that the s5ii will need to be in crop mode so that you don't have excessive vignetting.
      Thanks for your question!
