How to Use Books to Improve Your Speaking, Vocabulary, Pronunciation, Etc. (Without a Partner)

- This video is for anyone learning a new language, not only English learners.
You can use books to improve your reading, speaking, vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation all at the same time.
You can do it at home and without a partner. I show you how in this video.
This video is a little bit long, but I highly recommend watching the whole thing.
I show you what I used to do for thirty minutes every single morning before work when I was focusing on improving my Thai.
If you're a native English speaker and you find my speaking too slow, please feel free to adjust the speed of the video.
I'm Teacher Mike, and I'm an English teacher from the United States. I have also worked as a communication quality manager in a five-star hotel and as a communication coach at a company that trains Japanese business professionals in the communication skills that they need to succeed on international teams.

This the strategy I always recommend to my students. It significantly improved my English skills.
Our goal is not to finish the book quickly.
Our goal is to learn as much as possible. The harder the book is, the more you are going to learn.
So, I notice I need a challenging book for me.

Really good method! Reading is a great way to learn any language. Something else I like to do is listening to the audiobook while reading the book. If you see words you're pronouncing wrong, write them down and make a list. Then go back and read the list aloud every once in a while.

No wonder you love thai the languange is cute for me, i use Google translator to translate English into Indonesian,( my first languange)
I use both English to Indonesian and English to English dectionaries, sometimes i read about Nakizumo article, it's the article about japanese tradition i translated the article into English, love that article, the original languange of the article is japanese.😁

Sometimes we understand the meaning of every word in a sentence. Still we can't understand what the writer wants to say, especially in literary writings. What should we do in such situations?
Stop trying to understand the meaning of each word, and instead, try to understand the meaning of the sentence.

Yes, but that would mean "groups of words".
Vocabularies = Medical vocabulary, Sports vocabulary, etc
