The duet of Legrand and Maurane singing Je ne pourrai jamais vivre sans toi is the most beautiful piece of music I have ever heard. ua-cam.com/video/DcFH66IyXCU/v-deo.html It's even better than the movie.
And with the lyricist team of Bergman Marilyn and Alan Bergman, They were unstoppable, “fields of dawn and forests of the night. You know immediately that’s the Bergman’s. Superbe ... Michel Legrand était d'une grande gentillesse, et un homme simple (j'ai eu la chance de le rencontrer dans mon métier de batteur) , et un génie musical , Un sublime duo avec ce chanteur compositeur immense qu'est Sting...
Si improbable ce duo atypique ...et pourtant tellement magique par le talent de l'interprétation et la sensibilité musicale !...Quelle merveilleuse idée d'avoir formé ce duo éphémère et de qualité ! Merci Michel Legrand et Sting
I love it when one maestro (Sting) shows great respect to another (Legrand) like this. Sting knows he has to bring everything to the stage for this one, i love that he is caressing every note.
When we were little, my brothers and I used to go to the cinema every Sunday, encouraged by our mother who would then have two hours peace. We lived in Paris at the time and would walk by ourselves the 850 yd from our flat. The only recommendation made by our mother was that they had to look after me and never ever, in any circumstances, leave my side. That Sunday in September 1967 ( I was 7 and my brothers 9 and 10 ) the film was "Les Demoiselles de Rochefort" The little girl I was was of course completely enraptured and at the end of the credits it was out of the question that I left the theatre ; I wanted to watch it all over again (up to the 80' you could stay as long as you wished and watch the film over and over again as much as you wanted) It was the first time that the film was something different from all the action or war movies we used to watch and for once I was going to have the last word. There was a heated argument between us for about ten minutes because my brothers couldn't leave me on my own there (no question for them, they had enough of this stupid and syrupy film and wanted out as quickly as possible) So they left. Needless to say that they had a good talk over when they returned home without me. They were told to go back double quick and sit with me through the film again until the very end. And they did. So after that episode, they wouldn't talk to me or play with me for ages. But I couldn't care less ; I had become a "Demoiselle" and would sing and dance no end.

C'est fou la capacité de la musique 🎶 pour nous réconcilier avec tout en nous... Merci Michel ! Intrinsically French ! 🇫🇷 You're right to hear 👂 Paris in 🗼 it !
I wish Sting would release all album of slow jazz ballads and torch songs (after dinner jazz)- his own and some of those beauties made famous by others - La Belle Dame Sans Regret, Until, My Funny Valentine, Nature Boy, Lush Life, Stella By Starlight, Love Letters Straight from my Heart, Windmills of Your Mind, What are You Doing the Rest of your Life, The Shadow of Your Smile etc.
So happy for Mr. Legrand reading from his face and gestures after the song finished. Simply a beautiful thing watch after creeping around a song called ‘The windmills of your mind’ find the way to get the right chords. So lucky to have found this-thnx for sharing. ❤️🍾
Oh! GOD what a Duo, LOVE MICHEL.L & ALSO STING A BIG FAN, 🥰🥰😍😘Today Iam 57 years old, for me this is my Present💝🎊🎉🎁 From a French women who imigrated to LONDON! ⛪💂💂Hello/Salut👋👋✌
There is only "good and bad" music. Classical was the pop music of it's day. Pop of yesterday has become the "standards" of today. This duet proves it, superb composer and a stunning singer/composer working together to make magical music. RIP Michel a great loss to music and magical evenings listening or playing his music.
Quelle magnifique interprétation ! Je ferme les yeux et je ne sais plus si c'est la voix de Sting ou de Michel Legrand ? Leurs voix se ressemblent beaucoup 👍
By the way Sting, The film is the Happy Ending, lyrics by Alan Bergman and Marilyn Bergman, music Michel Legrand. My favorites performers and musicians. Michel Legrand and Sting.
Johnny Mandel, Henery Mancini, Michel Lagrand, Carlos Jobim and John Barry. I guess these guys were responsible for the intelligent musically informed side of the pop culture landscape i.e. film music sound track of the 60s. So much content these guys were responsible for. But gotta say more Zen less flourish there old buddy.
Hehe... you are right. I heard that, too but I am damn sure both could make it shine even more. They both seem to be a bit nervous, and no wonder! Listening to what the other does and get your impulse from there is all the magic even if the singer uses too many fermata :) The void is where the listeners click. They get into the zone towards the end and imagine what Sting could do if he didn't need to read the text.
Legrand and Sting....I think I've touched heaven today.
From an Atheist.....touched heaven quite suprising !
Made for each other ❤️
@@pelkaim A very "devout" Atheist I might add.....😁.

Qu’est venu foutre Sting là dedans
I miss the talent of the great Michel Legrand. I've never heard a song of his I didn't like or appreciate. Such a jazz legend of the 20th century.
Look at the movie THOMAS CROWN with Steve McQueen. Michel Legrand did the music.
Les moulins de mon coeur but in the translation, the last word (heart in English) got transmogrified to mind.
I think it's also very important to discover "Les demoiselles de Rochefort" and "Peau d'âne" !
