The ocean is my absolute favorite! Even though I live in the mountains lol. Lately, I’ve really been into metal straws and I’d really like to try reusable grocery bags because I love grocery shopping! I’ve been trying to eat healthier since I am very busy and involved athletically. Meal prepping in washable bento boxes make my life so much easier and I ALWAYS am using my hydroflask. I want to implement tumblers for my smoothies on the go! Living a happy & healthy life is my favorite and I’d love to learn more on how to give back to our planet! 🌎 🌊 @kateseverofficial
I love using shampoo bars and always carry a metal straw thank you for sharing different companies it’s been hard to find eco friendly products!!
An easy way to reduce waste is keeping Tupperware in your car whenever going out to eat so that instead of using the to go boxes restaurants supply you can use your Tupperware :)
I used to do that for school when I didn't pack my lunch. People thought I was crazy 🤣
Tupperware is plastic. No go for me.
The best way to do zero waste is imperfectly. we need everybody doing it imperfectly instead of just a couple of people doing it perfectly! zero waste products can be expensive but there is so many items in every bodies houses that can be reused. zero waste is such an important movement that will truly save the world. support local. use glass instead of plastic. buy in bulk. so many ways u can help mother earth :) @meowyth
I love this video so much, it makes me happy when more people promote sustainability! Because of COVID-19, grocery stores and drink shops in my area don’t let me bring in my own bags or cups, but I still go to my local zero waste shop to refill my conditioner and get shampoo bars, as well as make my own lotion! If anyone wants to know the recipe, please let me know!
@coral rose i melt equal parts (i do 1/3 cup each) coconut oil, shea butter, cocoa butter, and sweet almond oil in a double boiler. I then chill it in the fridge till it's solid and then mix it with an electric mixer until it's fluffy like whipped cream.

I'm so passionate about saving the environment. I get so mad when friends and relatives don't even recycle. I've gotten myself silicone bags, I actually have three or four lotus reusable shopping and produce bags, reusable straws and one beeswax wrap. My husband and I recycle, we grow our veggies, only drink out of reusable water bottles. I'd still love to win the giveaway though to grow my collection of reusable and environmentally friendly items. They are expensive, but over time they save you money and save the environment. It's so horrible how all the plastic we consume just ends up in the oceans!!
I'm adding all the things i missed when i first commented: we also drink out of repurposed jars (jelly jars, pickle jars, etc.) and also use them to store food, some jars are actually really awesome! You don't actually need fancy things to be more environmentally friendly. It's definitely hard though, everything is sold in single use plastic. Some people buy 20 pack bottles of water to drink at home which is SOOO horrifying!! Buy a filter instead! fill it up with tap water, let it sit in your fridge for a bit and then boom, you got yourself filtered water without the insane amount of single use plastic.
i’d switch your silicone bags to linen ones! silicone, although much much better than plastic, takes a reeaaallllyyyyy long time to break down. i’m also trying to be more eco friendly and you’ve given me more ideas :))
Oh I see. But I do plan on reusing them until they're completely done which should be maaaany years from now since they're so durable.
I feel you dude. I have to deal with a few ppl in my life who do not give a flying fish abt the effects of their behaviour on the environment. Makes me sad and a lil mad but at the end of the day, you’re steadily doing what you can which makes a difference :), I try to appreciate the ppl that do change
I don’t get people that buy plastic water bottles….even my coworker here at work refuses to use a reusable water canteen when we have a water machine. He just grabs another plastic bottle. People like that will never change and are part of the problem.
I love this! It is so hard to implement a lot of what I want in my household due to the shallow thinking of the person I am living with, but I do what I can like using my hydro, making my own coffee since less places accept reusable cups due to COVID, and also looking at how my diet can affect my plastic use (like eating more whole foods and snacking less to avoid all the wrappers that come with buying snacks). Also, since the beach is one of the few places I've been able to go, I always pick up any trash I see whenever I go, and it is always disappointing seeing how many e-cigs get left on the beach!
Save the Turtles!!!!! 🌊🌺 I have a hydro flask and those utensils also!!! And I use only paper bags. And I only use bamboo toothbrushes and my mom only buys makeup that they don't test on animals :(

I keep stainless steel cups in the car, collapsible stainless steel straw in my purse, large stainless steel water bottle wherever I go. At home, hair wash and body bars, no makeup/nail polish...the last 2 originally chose due to laziness but now I'm good with aging (I'm 57), bidet (mom's French so I grew up with this). Love this! Thank you Eryn for using your platform to promote plastic free July, sustainable and ecofriendly living! Recently I've swapped out tea bags for tea leaves using a tea diffuser! So now I can enjoy my green teas plastic free woowoo! I also got a bamboo wide tooth comb for my hair since my plastic one broke! Love it! I really want to stop using shampoo and condition in plastic bottle. I've tried some bars in the past but found they made my hair really greasy but my sister recently got me some new ones for my birthday so I will try those out!

Hey Eryn ! I loved your video ! I am Toia, 24 years old, from Barcelona. Though I've been living abroad this past year. My experience with 0 waste and plastic-free has been increasing these past two years. I love using my reusable glass bottle from HEMA, my bamboo fork, knife and spoon from Natura (España)... I also use natural cosmetics from Lush or Kriimco (which is a brand I am obsessed with ! I think it is original from Barcelona). I try to buy second hand clothes or sustainable brands, but this is maybe the most difficult part out of everything, because sometimes these brands can be really expensive. Despite everything I told you, my biggest change came when I started using menstrual cup instead of tampons! I am extremely happy of my change. And it's 1000 times better than tampons. My menstrual cup brand is Lilly Cup. And now, I can't look back... I can't believe I didn't changed from one method to this one before. It's been already one year and a half that I am using this Lilly Cup, and I recommend it totally.

Aloha Eryn! To start off I love you and your channel I seriously look forward to your videos every time you post. Ever since you posted your lotus trolley bag set I've been wanting them for my market trips to Trader Joes. I recently started to switch out all of my plastic disposable meal prep containers for all glass containers which will last me the rest of my life and I LOVE them. Also after watching this video I instantly went online to order shampoo, conditioner, and massage bars from Lush. I really like the idea that Ill be eliminating the amount of plastic bottles waste by not only by using my hydroflask, but no also by what i use to bathe. I am a huge animal person (especially when it comes to sea life) and this just makes me feel so much better that I'm doing my part to make sure these waste products aren't ending up in their home. I have made a ton of small switches like using metal straws, cold cups from starbucks, and metal hot cups for tea. But an exciting switch was investing in a tea diffuser to eliminate the waste of plastic and string I was using for my tea. I am such a huge tea person and to make this switch literally made my heart so happy. There are a lot of other changes that I want to make but so far here are my main changes. I hope you enjoyed reading what I had to say. Even if I don't get picked I'm still glad I was able to share and hopefully was able to give someone ideas on switches they can make. these were some really helpful tips and i will for sure start using these tips! due to the corona virus, my grocery stores won’t let my family and i bring our own grocery bags. but, i still use my hydro flask to drink water whenever i go out with friends or on a late afternoon walk. also, we always make sure to recycle everything!

I always love your videos specially during this time! This topic its really important especially coming from a small island you can see the impact of plastic on the beaches (also glass!!) sometimes can be hard finding this product and shipping does not always work even though the island its a territory of the US we sometime can’t get those product or shipping can be super expensive so i really hope they expand more, people really need to realize the importance of the environment and the impact that it have! some people don’t realize it until they live a catastrophe such as weather change etc. Thanks Eryn for bringing this topic to your subscribers! 💚💙

I’ve been trying to be as sustainable as possible while being a teenager in Manila, Philippines. I educate myself on what’s going on in the world and also see other ways i could help the environment. I’ve switched out my bathroom essentials and skin care routine but I hope to also be able to be sustainable when it comes to groceries because in the PH they don’t have much to offer.
I believe that being sustainable also depends on the individual because of the education they received and the willingness to change BUT also where they live in because not every country will be as invested to help save he environment.
You should alsoo talk more about reef safe sunscreen. I have been trying to reduce my plastic waste and havent used a single use plastic bottle in over 6 months. Glass straws are also a great option because you can see the inside when you are cleaning. Thank you for using your platform to promote sustainability.

My college roommate and I are going completely zero waste in our apartment. I’ve always used keep cups/reusable grocery bags/reusable cutlery/bamboo toothbrushes but zero waste is a whole new challenge, especially because of how much of our world depends on plastic. It’s been really eye opening to watch documentaries and do our own research on zero waste alternatives, but we’re so excited to make our own impact, however small it may be. It feels wrong to keep using plastic knowing how much damage it does to the environment, & so it’s only right to do what we can to mitigate this! I feel so much better putting my money where my mouth is and going zero waste :)

I've used a menstrual cup for my last 6ish periods now. I've used SOOO much less plastic. I'm not an expert, but I've heard they are much better for your body. You buy it once, and then you have it forever. You can reuse it, wear it to sleep, and you just have to sterilize it after each period by boiling it 5-7 minutes. I took it on a trip with me, and am so satisfied. It takes a little while to get used to, but once you get the hang of it, this thing is amazing.
Step by step I’m trying to introduce reusable items into my daily life and my parents. Thermos, glass bottles, ... it even inspired my mom to use my grandma’s jar in our kitchen to store coffee, rice, flour, etc.

Metal straws, glass food containers, and a reusable water bottle have all been big game changers for me, but honestly getting a stainless steel razor has been the biggest (& best) change for me. The blades last forever & it’s way better than the plastic disposable ones I was using before!

I haven’t touched a plastic water bottle in a year, I also get y’all of my eggs from a family friend so I don’t have to keep buying new packaging, I just get them from her and put them straight in my fridge :) also my family and I have been trying to not buy a lot of single use plastic !

Hi Eryn, where is your bamboo cutlery set from? I've looked online and all I can find is ones with fabric casing that you roll up and all I'm thinking is how gross that would be after you've eaten, it looks like yours came in a washable tub winch sounds like a much better option.

I try my best to reduce plastic in my house, but currently I'm still living with my parents and getting everyone to follow my little lifestyle rules is super hard.. Will defo be 100x better when I move out haha
I do my part by using metal straws and paper straws. I love to use my reusable Starbucks cup. I am newer to the zero/low waste community so I think it’s important for me to take advice from other environmentally conscious people. The ocean has always been a big part of my life and I want to help other people experience its beauty free of waste and harm.

All right so for my reusable water bottles I reuse calypso and every fresh juice bottles and also there is this milk company they sell lemonade too but they have like 2 quart glass jugs great quality super high-quality I just reuse those and I fill those with water
Thanks for putting reducing waste on the forefront of our minds! I love how you address daily things that we can all tackle, so I wanted to share how women could reduce waste when it comes to our personal care. For one, I love getting sugared instead of waxed since the sugaring wax is biodegradable and doesn’t use the fabric (single-use) cloths. I also used to use Diva cups for my menstrual cycles for a while before I switched to reusable pads. I use Charlie Banana and haven’t looked back. Yes, it’s more work to clean and take care of them, but totally worth the trade-off when we realize how much plastic is created for single-use pads and tampons. When I do buy tampons, I make sure that the packaging is in paper. Super personal, but rarely brought attention to! ❤️ @yessjuu

Loved this video so much !! Shopping sustainably makes me so happy! Thrifting instead of buying fast fashion is definitely one of my favorite ways to sustainable live! I also use my hydroflask and and stasher bags often to reduce waste. My next step is to make more swaps in the kitchen and my bathroom!
