I love this guy. That said, I swear you could give him 2 guitar strings, a broken toaster, and three expired frozen burritos...and he'd still sound better than any of us. Love you, OLA! ;)
Amplitube really is a great plugin. Never got to try out the Mesa-Pack :( But i remember the young-me, standing on all kinds of stages. With my guitar, interface, a tower pc and an old crt-monitor, runnning amplitube. I was flexible as hell and was able to get the best sound i could ever imagine out of this setup.
What an incredible piece of software! I love the Mesa/Boogie sound, but could never afford their huge gear. Now it's closer to my reach (gotta save for the Black Friday)
For whatever reason I wrote off Amplitude years ago (except for Ampeg SVX) but this is making me rethink things. It's just so much easier than miking a cab, not to mention awesome being able to tweak in the mix. just surprised at how good a lot of these models sound...
I am getting the Amplitube MAX bundle! Quite literally EVERYTHING IK Multimedia makes guitar-wise for less than the cost of a single quality amplifier...
it will never sound like a real amp take it from me i know ive checked every sound out on this it does not sound like a real amp plus foot pedal buy some proper stuff.
Ola thanks for this video! I have started using amplitube 4 a few months ago and after tweaking the mark IV amp a bit I got that chunky John Petrucci sound we love so much. The pickup response and dynamics is great too. This plug to me is far better than its counterparts which I have played with for years! It's great to see that you have a similar opinion!
tkzsfen I spent about two years assuming I was subbed, because he's so awesome, how could I not be, right?...oops I'm very sorry Ola. I didn't realise until I watched a video where Ola says something like "and for f sake subscribe already!" There could be another 100k like me. If you're reading this Ola maybe you could ask the viewers to double check
Plugins like Amplitube and such make me genuinely want to sell my gear in order to purchase this. As a home studio guitar player I really do enjoy my stuff but sometimes it feels like a bit overkill for my modest use... guess I have something to compensate ^^
Yann Leroux you can download amplitube 4 for free on piratebay, I did it recently and it works awesome, you should try it before you sell anything jajajjsja
Yann Leroux I play through amplitube 90 percent of the time. Tomorrow im going buy a mesa vert 2x12. Amplitube is really good but its not the real things. Its great for late night playing. Personally, plugging into a tube amp and shaking the walls just cant be replaced yet.
Yann Leroux amplitube doesn't cost that much, get it and keep your real amps as well. also, wait for sales, I got amplitube 4 deluxe at a great price during a sale earlier this year.
Dude your guitar is great sounding. I have this plugin and your guitar sounds way better than mine, haha. I have a PRS McCarty...not cheap. Yours still wins.
I came across a TA-30 for sale used at a local GC, it's a really beautiful sounding blues/british amp. All of those amp sims sounded absolutely spot on. So cool. I own a used express 5:50 so I'm always pleased to come across an old mesa boogie amp. Something I forgot to be mindful of is that it had a genuine reverb spring tank so if you happen to bump it on accident it will absolute scream with the most horrific howl especially if the gain is turned up lmao the entire store jumped after being entranced with some jazz blues test chords ha so yeah words of caution to the wise if you find one irl
Hey dude! Thanks, this convinced me to purchase AT4 maxx on sale half off. Two days later, a POD HD500 shows up on craigslist, that was my other choice. I'm pretty happy with AT4 but it slowed my productivity this month with all the different amps and fx to check out :D It's still on sale haha! Aloha, Ola!
That Mark IV is very reminiscent of the Wintersun debut tone especially using that triode switch. I know Jari used a Triaxis on that album, but I don't know about his settings. I've been dying to get my hands on one of those things
pretty cool, I use a triple rec when recording. sounded pretty much the same. though I'm not a fan of a overdrive pedal in front, I'm glad you compared them. thanks for video I enjoyed it.
the risk with amp modelling is, it's very hard to know how it'll sound for YOU in person. Ive seen so many people try different VSTs and make them sound awesome - when i try them myself it sounds totally different, fizzy, flat, etc. And i know how to record properly, have a ton of different impulse responses, decent guitar, etc. Always be cautious when it comes to amp sims imo
I dug the triple with EL34s, I run EL34s and the 5U4 "coke bottle" rectifiers in my triple rectifier and I love the tone. You two channel dual recto snobs can "fluff" me.
Ola, I noticed that you didn't adjust Amplitube's input level, and that the signal apparently didn't hit close to the max, judging by the meters. What's your policy for dealing with input level with VSTs? Do you compensate on the interface itself and use the usual "play hard until it almost clips" rule, or something else?
Thanks Ola! I see that you crank up the Tone knob on the overdrive to get more 'bite'. You could also use the Metal Zone pedal as a boost, works also well imho. I use it in Amplitube 3 on a Peavey 5150 and an Orange 4x12.
Dude ur the best cuz u know everything about everything and u can play to u help me so much so keep going cuz in this world u can’t trust anyone but ola yaaaaah boy death metal for ever even old people lol love ya bro
I have as triple rec and this sounds incredibly accurate. The only thing that I would say isn't correct is the el34 tone; it's much more aggressive on the real thing.
so far the only software which can really match the real thing. Spending money to buy this software is really a good choice if you don't want to spend 2000 bucks for an amp+cabinet
Thankyou for the presets Ola...!! Your generosity is why we love you..! in a manly kind of way lol Hello from Australia :) .... I wish we could get your guitars here, but I can't find anyone in Melbourne that sells them :(( Booooo!!

Really nice review! I think for those who hate Amplitube and don't like it because they think is "so digital sound". For me it's really close to the REAL DEAL. (comparing whit other plug-ins)
I just got the metal pack and in a few hours I created a descent metal tone. I did a cover on my channel tonight of (yes easy ass song) Enter Snadman as a test. I'm impressed with his program.
Dude, that was very interesting. You kind of lost me with the set up on your screen. You have Logic X and I also have Logic X. Perhaps you have a video on how its used using Logic? Bare with me as I'm a newbie but really like both Mesa and Logic and learning. PS you convinced me to buy Amplitube and the Mesa plugin.
Amplitube should make a second Mesa Boogie Pack with the Mark IIC+, Mark V, Dual Caliber, Triple Crown, or maybe some of those awesome power amps and preamps from the 90s. The Mark IIC+ alone would be amazing.
There is a reason why most guitar players use Bias FX.... It is much more responsive and sounds extremely organic. I tried the Mesa plugin and I was not satisfied... But hats off to Ola for pulling this off, great mixing skillz
This is a good program If you got the right things like the interface and right speakers I wonder if amplitude paid Olga to do that review either way I like his review and all his videos
I love this pack Ola. Great job showing us the nuances of each amp and how they interact with the cabs. Thanks for the presets, gonna load em up now and Riff like a Mesachist. :)
What I don't like with Amplitube, is that all of their amps are not so representative of their real counterparts in terms of amount of gain. When I tested it I realized I had to put max gain on all of the amps to have decent high gain rythm tones. And if you paid attention, Ola was also bringing the gain knobs to maximum in this video...
Try placing an overdrive like the Diode Overdrive pedal in front of the amp. I used it on the Triple Rec and only needed my gain around half way for a solid metal tone.
Well, what you propose is quite standard anyway, even on a real amp. However, with Amplitube, even with an overdrive in front, I had to put the gain quite high on the amp. Unless I turn up the gain on the overdrive itself, but then again, this is far from the real behavior of the amp. People use overdrive in front of a Dual Rectifier to tighten the low end, not to add gain. And, as you might ask that, I do have high output pickups (Dimarzio D-Activators).
Hugues B I see what you mean. I've only used the real amp once but the gain does seem a bit low on this plugin. However, adding the overdrive really gave me a solid tone!
Hey dude. I have an Gibson Melody Maker with an single coil pick up and i wasn't getting the same sound as Ola. But then i tried adding the Diode Overdrive pedal and then it came alive haha! Guess it must be the active pickups? :)
Be sure to increase the input signal to an appropriate level (the knob on the bottom-left). I find that the input signal is a bit low at twelve o'clock and a slight adjustment does wonders for the gain. The Mark IV is a fabulous plugin, btw; flesh-melting tones and so aggressive!
I had the choice a long time ago to get the triple or the dual and I thought the triple with the 150w made the speakers sound muddy like it was almost too much for the speakers. That's why I've always liked the dual. Before I lost it. Heroins a bitch.
+ Andrew salas I don't agree passives can sound good as well with Amplitube 4. It just depends on the tone you are looking for, I can get some great tones from Fenders and Vox with the passives, the Jet City's, Marshall's and Oranges with the passives and modern stuff with the Mesas and ENGL's etc with the actives.
not saying passives are bad just saying for me on this specific application thats what i have experienced but at the same time it could just be my epiphone LP pro its pretty much crap my zakk wylde one was way better should of kept it
I use a cheap Epi Traditonal Pro mostly with the stock pickups and can get some clean to crunch organic tones with the sims listed above that I can't get with the Actives but their is less noise with the EMG's and they are hard to beat for the Ballsy metal tones and clean cleans are good.
andrew salas. I desagree, active sound less organic and amplitude enhances passive high output pickups. I rather have passive but high output pickups than active pickups any day. But that is your opinion as well. Active pickups are one trick pony 🐎 pickups.
That was an awesome demonstration video. What is the speaker set up you used to get the sounds to your video? Could this package be used in a live situation in any way? Thanks.
Hi Ola been inspired by youtubers like you and i have just recently for 2 weeks now began home recording. It is the most frustrating but also the most exciting experiance. Cant seem to get the fucking snare to sit in the mix and cut through lol. But anyways i will keep watching your videos and look out for great tips and advises
Is the mesa boogie plugin really THIS quiet? I'm afraid that if I buy the pack, I'll get a bunch of noise and feedback, which is my number 1 pet peeve. The amplitude amps I have now (the one's that come with the product) are REALLY noisy and the noise gate helps, but the notes don't sustain at all and it cuts out too abruptly. So, I'm just wondering if the mesa is really as quiet as it is in the video before I make that investment.
Great job and thanks for the presets, I get hung up in the part "so here's how it looks in logic x" can you explain this part how you do it with no latency like you display? Like vst/au signal path are you using StudioMux or similar way to mount the ipad and then import that? do you have another video already explaining this?
Amplitube 4 is really good for bass tones, imo. I don't like it for guitar. At least not for metal. The Fortin stuff is my current favourite, followed by BIAS.
Hey Ola, nice video . A complete guitar noob here. I am thinking about buying my first guitar. As I don't have much space in my room for a practice amp I am thinking about getting some kind an audio interface like the IRig Pro + Amplutube for practice, since it does not require a lot of space and I could play anywhere with my laptop.
