Love your content - though I agree with your point for "working silently" it does highlight a fundamental culture flaw with corporate environments in that they aren't set up for introverts. Some of the best communicators I've worked with have also been those who have added the least value, but solely get by on the "gift of the gab". Corporate cultures need to seriously shift to be more inclusive to those inclined towards introversion. Just because someone is quiet doesn't mean they're incapable of success
You’re so right! The corporate world is not great for introverts. This is the main reason I started a side career as a freelance photographer so it can become my main career when I’m financially stable
totally agree. The loudest and the "gift of the gabs" are usually work shy aswell but tend to get the promotions because they're in your face with every aspect of work they are doing. It's tiresome and I don't want to be like that. Quite narcissistic really.
I agree, I’m going to university to learn business this October at the age of 28… I’m tired of working for low pay, I wasn’t able to go to Uni until now, but I’m thinking if it’s the right thing to do, I’m at a cross roads.😅
Definitely agree with you on not working silently. As an introvert, this is something I've struggled with in my career. It would be great if you did a video on how you communicated well to colleagues about your work.
I completely agree with your point around communication and not working silently leading to more career opportunities, however it’s such a shame that our corporate structure has evolved to reward this rather than leaders recognising and rewarding true talent, instead it’s easier to just listen to those who are good with personal marketing
Just resigned from my city London job with no job to go to. 10 years in HR & Payroll. Knowing I need to make a change but not sure what, but this video really related.
Nischa, you have no idea how much you're helping people around the world. I downloaded your spreadsheet to manage my monthly expenses, and it’s made a positive difference. I used to track everything in my notebook, but I couldn’t get real-time visibility like I can now. My goal is to be dept free by June 2025.
Wonderful advice! I am a manager, and I am always looking for ways to not only improve myself but what guidance can I give to those on my team. This is amazing thank you!!!
This is all good advice. I’m 12 years in to my career. Some further advice is do not get pigeonholed into something niche, as this will limit opportunities. Always be ready to move on, practice interview techniques and questions… the job market is unstable these days and layoffs are always around the corner.. further to this, make sure you are always learning new skills
Excellent video, Nischa. Thanks. I work in the industry in Vancouver after my Phd. All your suggestions especially, the ones around self promotion and alignment with the company growth are very helpful.
Point #3 Being introverted has always been a challenge for me, especially in work environments. No matter how skilled or excellent I am at my job, if I'm not talkative or a natural storyteller, I always left behind. It seems like being great at what you do isn't enough.
I think what people don't tend to factor in is when you're younger - money is a big driver. Often a bigger driver than fulfillment. As you spend more and more time, after a while you've arrived at a point of decent money but that's the only thing that's really changed. At least that's the case for me. It wasn't until I was earning what I considered to be good money that I started looking for other areas of fulfillment and found that I had nothing else of substance. So it's not like it was a mistake - it's just something to be mindful of when starting out.
Love this advise...but I tried this and didn't work. I did a lot of work and created some roadmaps for innovation and unfortunately my company didn't want to shift me over because it was a much higher level position. It was a big disappointment and my boss ended up getting the job. This is the problem working for a company for 26 years as an engineer.
This is all great advice. I have really excelled in my career through communicating and making sure I align my career work with company objectives. A challenge I run into, however, is a fairly aggressive moonlighting clause in my contract. My employer basically won't allow me to do any other work outside of my primary employment. Have you had any experience with this or do you know of resources I can look to on this?
Great insights! Avoiding pitfalls and cultivating positive practices are crucial for career advancement. FOCUS on continuous improvement and never stop LEARNING. These strategies are essential for BUILDING a successful future. 🚀
Hi Nischa, love this video. Your first point about not working for a paycheck or title, what advice would you tell yourself to drop your ego to pick a job with less good pay or a worse title if it aligns better with your values or makes you happier? Genuine question as it’s a dilemma I’m currently facing lol
Like your content in general , however seems that since going full time on UA-cam, all the videos are top 4/7/8/10 things repeatedly. Maybe some time out to think about the content direction might help.
I think that starting with a Number of a tier list Is what makes me interested enough to click on a video, honestly. Love this format, so Quick and Easy to digest.
😲How come that I live in reality where most of possitive principles, processes and values the UA-camrs proclaim and promote as legitimately real standard of human qualities are EXACTLY and EXTREMELY the OPPOSITE and DAMN CONTRADICTING to my horrible life experiences working with humanity-less evil monsters who were purposely destroying my success every time !!!!!???? 😒
So basically you decided to hire the schmoozer interns. The HR in big companies are really a joke, only people with connections and referral can enter and climb the career ladder. If somebody is really intelligent or hard working but knows nobody, doesn't stand a chance!
Respectfully, career planning is now a waste of time with AI and automation. What do you think about my view given i am considered a professional (an engineer)? I really don't see a point to saving as pensions will collapse as no one will have a salary to contribute into them. It will be a blood bath in the next 4-5 years.
@@inspireandempower-o4r I see that book is about being positive. That is not my issue. I'm an engineer. I'm a realist. Called negative because I am cold in my reasoning. There is no hope of work or jobs. There is a chance of abundance. But that rides on us assuming the rich will be benevolent. I just want to gauge what economists and people in finance are thinking the future will look like.
Really ? So .. working for peanuts is a good thing ?? Much better than working in a very high paying job ?? You obviously never worked in a low wage job.
You've likely never worked a stressful high-paying job, the level of stress you experience in a peanut job is nothing compared to a high-paying job (aside from the financial struggles). I think it's very odd that many low-wage people assume that high-wage people never worked a low-wage job. Your problems aren't solved once you get a high-paying job, she provides the next steps to financial freedom, an overall healthy life, and career after acquiring a high-paying job. If you're not in this state nor intend to get there, then you don't have any business critiquing this video. In fact I think her advice in this video can help peanut income people get more opportunities for better jobs
So investment bank did not hire the best trainees so is that like having full glass of milk with cream on top put cream to the bin and drink only milk?Smart bank😂
Those who can hardly buy groceries should think about why it is this way. In the majority of cases individual reasons can be cited for such situations. I find this video fairly helpful.
I'm not a social justice warrior like the last two. No, you don't when you look like that. However, Nischa is super smart and awesome. I have learned tons from her. Keep rocking Nischa 💯

Diversifying income is smart, but let’s not forget the value of continuously upgrading our skills to create new opportunities.
Well said. I agree - Networking is Key too.
Investment in self education is also key

Passion is great, absolutely, but people still burnout because they are so passionate about they do. You still need rest and to look after yourself.

This is a fantastic listen as always - just 1 question, any book recommendations that can further the points you made?
Really good advice. You really thought about who you wanted to impact.
Insightful, thanks Nischa
Very insightful, thank you!
Thank you @Nisha.
Hearing someone talk like a corporate drone just makes me want to work in a dusty old museum basement.

Eagarly waiting for your vedio regularly

Lost me at mentors. Never had one and no company I have been in offered one.
Attend seminars in your industry and make an effort to network
It’s simple focus on Goals not on holes
It's always good to do more than just your tasks. Share your ideas with your bosses they will like what you have to offer.
Sooo True

Maybe because they were lucky and now can share their growth, while 90% of the other are in the opposite world you describe?

I would recommend reading Unscripted by M.J. DeMarco
