@@jetskijim007 Awesome! Thanks Jim. We’ll see you there
THAT is one good looking sand rail.
That buggy is to nice to carry to the sand
A beautiful sand rail! Merlin will help you "Get Er Done"! When I raced Corvairs I could change an engine in an hour and 45 minutes. Now at 71 it'd be 2 days! LOL!
Can't wait to hear her bark~! Nice job!
Jimmy ,
The buggies is looking good buddy your getting there can't wait to see it in the sand .
God Bless
Kyle
Hmmmm....
Quite the interesting strategic placement of the t-shirt @ 1:52 into the video! Hahaha!!
But Jim, I absolutely love that sand buggy of yours!
Casey actually sent that shirt to Merlon. 😂😂😂
Oh that's just funny as hell Jim!@@jetskijim007
Love your channel Jimmy. I’m looking forward to this sand rail smoking all the VWs on a drag strip.
Thanks for your vid 😇💟💟💟 Love and bless you Jim, good work guys hope all goes well.
Wishing you good luck!
Fun watching all the 70's rails gathering up for one event... they were all blinged out in their day 👍😎✊
Heck...!!....
Keep grinding Jimmy.....you will get it straight......god bless you n urs 🇺🇸
Getting it Done Jimmy....can't wait to hear her run.
That is going to be crazy fast.
great video content as always Jim, so close to hearing it fire. the sand rail looks pretty awesome if i do say so, thanks for sharing
Hey Jimmy! I love how much love and details you put on this build man, it's looking amazing!
Ya ain't gotta look me in the eye every second...🤓...just speak and I'll listen...and see what cha mean....😜
Love the progress on the sand rail. Can you show how the shift linkage works please ?
Awesome and outstanding. Thanks for sharing and taking us along
Nice looking rail. I think it’s gonna be fast.
Jimmy you are going to have to wickedest sand rail on the Dunes Awesome 👏 ☮️❤️👍✌️💪🏻
Jimmy,
Forgot to mention is always nice to have friends that are willing to pitch in and help.
Kyle
Pretty sure he knows considering how many times he has helped Merlin. They both would be good friends to have.
Have a great birthday Merlin with all your friends and family.
Loading up in Iowa Saturday to see the ole girl in person
That’s awesome! Safe journey!
Such a sweet rail love your attention to detail
Merlin I love your " I hate Casey" Tee shirt!!!
Awe man that sucks you have to pull that motor back out!! That's a good looking buggy Jimmy! Mines gonna be the ugly Shade Tree buggy....Its how I roll.
It’s a bummer but is looking good!
Hey Jimmy, i think you've got the best look'n rail❤👌🇦🇺
I didn't know Corvairs turned backwards. Not a big deal with the swing axle VW transaxle. So cool to see this build.
Seriously...🤔I was wondering bout that shirt....😜
Call Matt's off road recovery he will have a starter for yeah
Jimmy that is going to be a fancy Corvair engine powered sand rail!
Hey man, what a nice machine you built there, have fun
I just subscribed, I’ve seen you on Merlin’s channel, but I’ll keep watching your’s anyway 😂. That’s one sharp buggy. Your shop is way cleaner than mine, but I won’t hold that against you, I wish I had that discipline to keep mine that clean.
Hey I see you have a ALASKA handy cap plate , cool I live in ALASKA didn’t think I would see that at Merlin’s garage 😉
Take that VW starter with you , its a sure bet one of those Fab Rat boys are going to need it
Hi jim, what about that ligth blue f100?
It Would be Great to have a Friend Like Merlin, Merlin has Forgotten More than Most Will Ever Know. About Everything. 😂 The RainMan of UA-cam
Chrome don't get you home. But you look good sitting there
Nice
I missed the "progress indicator"...why did the starter need to crank "reverse"?
nice car Jimmy
Nice rail your building Merlin…
I welded up a cast iron skillet it the best one I have. That cast is tricky to weld.
Jim**** Matt from Matts offroad has just about every part. He is into Corvairs. He might have something if you run into a bind. I only know this from watching his channel. He walked into his storage unit and was commenting on all his parts. Id give him a hollar
He has a connex box full of corvair parts
Is that a spider motor?
Yes it is!
Turbo Corvair sure will rip. Hang on! Thanks
Well that sucks , do a short when you get it running
Almost.
you go jimmy pedal to the metal and go..
full throttel.....
send it...
What's Merlin thinking? All the parts you need are up in Hurrican. Call Matt at Matt's Off Road Recovery. he have a million parts for Corvairs. Oh wait, you guys are missing the Wrecker games. My bad.
You should have brazed them ,, it would work too !
It's weird that you seem out of your element with this sand rail, yet very much in it. This thing's going to run and a good time will be had, no doubt. We always ran VW because of ease of parts availability, service, and modding. Those Corvair guys had it going on though. Then there was all of the V guys.....
My rotary 13b ate up vw transaxle type one always instantly bus trans would break on hard downshift or upshift.. a lot of centrifugal energy with rotors
The correct plug wires have the shroud grommet incorporated into the spark plug boot.
Good luck with the flywheel.😢
🤟
Was it hot 😮 😅
Call Matt at Matt's off for parts for the motor
Man you need to add some Pizzazz to your channel. Let me know when it’s time to wake up!
Come on Renn you know him he is your buddy. Merlin you and Jimmy just need to put pockets on all your shirts come on you all need pockets. That's ok Jimmy you will get it and it will work.
I really thought Merlin would say well, while the welders out and plugged in, why don’t we tack that grinder stand to the rim?
Hey jimmy
Not sure if you know but Matt from Matt’s of Road is corvair expert he has tonnes of spare parts and cars
Jim isn't the engine in backwards, the transmission should be on the front?
This sand rail design is a mid engine, so weight is more over the wheels.
Which line on the Percaso is the cut line Merlin? Lol.
OK ok I know, the wright line.
Wold like to know what kind/type of transaxle that is in your buggy? Not familiar w/ them, but have a Corvair I'd like to fit one in to make a mid-engined driver.
It's just pressure....😳🤔🤓
Jim just a fyi. The Flag in your garage is displayed incorrect. The union belongs in the upper left.
Call Matt off road for a starter
Merlin hates Casey La Delle 😂❤️🇷🇴
Great video. Who is the old cantankerous guy that keeps showing up at your shop?
That's his sensei on this project. 🤣
His sensei, wax on, wax off
Hey Jim what's the story with that new edge mustang up on the lift f its yours its gotta be built let us know
Its a cobra, damaged unibody. It is. Donor for a fox body. A couple projects down the road.
Call Matt at Matt off road. He has many parts for them
Don’t forget you could also reach out to Matt at Matt off-road recovery. He’s got so much of that stuff specially them tins that you need for the cooling. He’s probably got tons of that.
6 volt 109 tooth
12 volt 130 tooth
Thank you. :-)
Jimmie's worth a million and has the wonkiest,no switch- grinder/stand setup worth 5 bucks at a yard sale 😅
What transaxle did you use in the buggy?
It is a vw swing axle, built by mendeola back in the 80's ( when mendeola still built swing axles, lol)
Hey Jimmy! Love to watch your videos, your 650 helped me so much with my 650. I also have a 750 sxi with twin keihan carbs. I recently had the engine rebuilt by a shop, bottom and top end. The only thing is since that has been done and the carb rebuilt it won't run unless it is choked. We have checked all the obvious stuff like tank pressure, the fuel pump pumping fuel and had the carby rebuilt. It used to run before the carb was rebuilt but now it won't.
We have looked into the pop off pressure and tried the different springs, having it pop off at 28psi up to 40 and still no luck. Have you got any ideas that could help me out? Thanks in advance!
You need to lower the pop off to around 20psi, and or raise the low speed jets 2-3 sizes. I assume you removed oil injection and are now mixing oil? The mixture is thicker now than it was and now it is lean.
The oil injection was removed before we got the ski, it did run before it blew up but when the carby fella rebuilt the carbs he did change the pop off but doesn't know what it had in there before. The kits we get here in Australia only have 2 different size springs. Can I change the pop off by bending the arm for the needle?
no don't bend the arm, the best way to lower pop off is to change the jet block plate to the next size up (2.0). Since you haven't been able to buy those in years, the next best way to do it is to cut half a ring at a time off the spring until you get to 20 psi. It is usually 1.5 rings to get there.
Perfect thanks heaps mate I'll give that a go!
Hey I’m coming to Glamis for the birthday bash I’m trying to locate a set of 13.00 15 paddles I can’t afford them new but I’ll pay 3 or 400
That is a great looking buggy, BUT will it end in divorce when long hair gets caught in the fan belt ??
If he doesn't remove them before he goes home it will.
@@havasubooo8840😂😂😂
that sounds like a starter pump not a horse power pump
It's more the burnt hair, not the brand you smell, even in your sleep.
P r o m o S M 😬
Great job Jimmy, keep up the great work, that buggy is looking amazing.
Oh snap...!!...you could have a FaceTime WALL...hundreds of screens...!!....🙄🤣
Stick with it my friend, it will be worth it! It's fun to watch the progress, thanks
Any suggestions on where to stay if we were to go to Glamis for the party?
I have nodoubt you'll get it right! Catch you on the next. ✌️ 😊
Great work today. Bummer about the flywheel.
Awesome rail Jimmy and it must be great to have a friend like Merlin.
Merlin is the HOA in his hood!
Soooo close Jimmy!!
Hopefully you get it figured out and running for Merlin's Birthday bash.
Jimmy will get her running he don’t quit!
Merlin is too cool...
"Ive done this before Jim" 😎
That’s a fine looking rail you have Jimmy.
Great times coming!!! Keep going!!!
Hate it when you open a vid to watch and the top comment tells you what happened before you even have a chance..
Thanks for posting this comment on top that one so that didn't happen to me
Man, Who writes you description copy?!? Talk about thesaurus filled excitement!! Lol! This rail is going to be a major work of screaming art. I hope it bring you as much joy, as were having looking over your shoulder... & really looking forward to all the video of this thing blasting thru the sand! Thanx !
Man great video!!! It is so hard for guys like us to find friends with the same interests. Particularly at our wisdom of age . Let me know if some properties become available in your area ❤.
Jim I'm sure your sand rail is going to be the best looking one at that bash. Lol to bad it's yellow. Just joking. Nice job in restoring it.
So this isn't for the water,
It doesn't need to be water proof?
