  • In this video I'll be discussing some of the things I learned when I took apart my sticker books during my first year with The Happy Planner. How I organized them, what I liked about it and what I hated. Which sticker books I put back together and why. I'll also discuss my plans for taking apart my sticker books moving forward and how I plan to organized them this time around!

Aileen’s Tacky Glue works similarly to the padding compound. One Christmas I made notepads for my family using photos that were meaningful to each person and used the tacky glue to put them together. It also was flexible and clear when it dried. Everyone loved them

Fascinating and so helpful. The only step I've made in that direction was pulling my alphabet and number stickers out and storing them separately. But now I have so many ideas, thank you so much for sharing all this info.

I tried taking apart a few of them, didn't like it and put them back together 🤷‍♀️

Great video. I took all my sticker books apart and at first was going to sort them by colors or by function, but quickly decided that wasn’t going to work, for all the reasons you outline here. I was glad I had labeled them! I put them all on discs the way you showed here, but as the individual sticker books. I did take out a lot of the quotes and put them together, and I think I might do the same with the letters and numbers. My main reason for doing it was because I hate flipping through books along the short, top, edge. I would much rather look through them the way you look through a book, along the long left side. I like being able to see two pages at once as well. I used a little double side tape, or mono adhesive, or a spot of glue from the glue stick in three places to attach them to the card stock (or pages from an old planner), and they seem to be holding together pretty well. I kept the covers of each and punched those too, so I have three books on each set of discs, with the cover in between,, so it is easy to tell which pages are from which sticker book. I have been cutting down the clear cutting mats from the Dollar tree to make clear covers (Thank you Paloma from The Bates House channel), but I like your idea of the poly folder! Less work! Now if I could just find the right storage bin or basket to fit them all and fit the space where I keep them....and/or stop buying stickers.....

Check out the storage bins at Target. There are some for $4 that are the same size as The Happy Planner cardboard ones but are much sturdier. I think they are called "Y-Weave". Those same bins come in tons of sizes so you might find some that are a little wider and will accommodate the books the way you are setting them up.

Hi Judi. I have been watching and re-watching your sticker book playlist for the last few days. Thank you so much for taking the time to put a series of videos like this. I have begun to take on the daunting task of taking my sticker books apart and I followed a lot of what you did as far as what sticker sheets to pull and group them into categories and that has been super helpful. What I have learned during this process is that almost all of the most recent sticker books are a lot easier to pull pages out of and put them together accordingly because there seems to be a much better way that stickers are being grouped together. The very first 30 or so sticker books seem to have no organization at all. It’s like all the stickers were put into any kind of random order just to fill up a sticker sheet and that’s what makes those books so difficult to take apart. I started taking my books apart from the most recent sticker books and working my way backwards. I will be making many of my own sticker books like the ones you made in one of your other videos and I can’t wait to corral my sticker chaos! Lol. Thank you again for this video playlist. It has been a huge help to me😊

I'm so glad it has been helpful, thank you very much for watching and for taking the time to let me know you are finding value in what I am putting out into the world!
You bring up a great point about how the sticker books have changed over the years and I'm glad you discovered that and a system that is working for you!!!

True words! Your analysis and suggestions are right on, so I enjoy your input. At the beginning of my planner adventure, I had fun creating my own sticker book of what I thought I'd use the most. Then I didn't use it because it was different than the regular books! Next, I started a spreadsheet to know where categories of stickers were located - such as hearts, checklists, leaves, etc. That got out of hand as I bought more books. I don't update it anymore (though I wish Happy Planner had a master list). I don't buy any brands other than Happy Planner and mostly only the 30 page style with the hole at the top. I like the consistent storage of my books all in a row alphabetically on my rolling cart. Now I just try to remember where things are and "flip" through the books often. I only have one classic dashboard and 1 mini horizontal journal, so *for me* it has been manageable. I look forward to your next sticker storage video.

Thank you so much for taking the time to provide such great input. This might make your day...Its a link to a searchable database of all the sticker books, it was up to date as of the fall release, I don't think she has added spring yet, hopefully she will!

I pulled out all the alphabets and numbers because I don't think I have ever used them
So now they are in one place and out of my way. If I want to use them I know where to go.

Thanks, Judi, this was a fascinating look into sticker book psychology! I'm a weird duck, I'm 4 months in and I haven't bought a single sticker book. I thought I never was going to, but Planners Anonymous proved me wrong! So now I'm glad I have ideas!

I admire your restraint! The thought has crossed my mind to combine the 5 PA Books from Michaels, maybe keeping each cover as a divider...we'll see!

    • @catherinejbaker

@@JLBCrafts Funny you should use the word "restraint". It's mostly an unwillingness to store stickers I know I won't use (I'm pretty picky). Most of my space is devoted to my first love: fabric. So. Much. Fabric. No restraint here. 😬

I love this! I recently started storing my stickerbooks vertically in those long baskets. I may have to go through them all and remove the grommets because it drives me nuts when they get stuck. I used your placemat idea and made stickerbooks like the first ones hp came out with. I just started putting the books that were similar together. Food, recipe, and happy hostess. 3 color story books together, both farmhouse and the botanical. It works right now. I am always looking for new ideas and I love yours and your creativity. Keep them coming😊

Great video! I did the same thing with my alphabet letters from sticker books and added them to my Alphabet book. Like you said I kept forgetting what book they were in! Omg we are on the same page! I pulled the grommets out too and combined duplicates. I store my sticker books in my desk drawer made for hanging file folders and they slide in and out nice. Thank you for sharing! 😊👍

You are so welcome. I saw a comment the other day that someone covered the grommets with washi to help the books slide better, I may try that too but it doesn't seem like a robust solution that will last...we'll see!
