Nael van Darnus!
NGL i was gonna scream at the sole sign of anything resembling a golem during this encounter. Literally quit on the spot and give up.
@@AVarghul watch as they have it as part of the new ultimate
The WoL might canonically have PTSD from Nael.
Nael van Darnus embodies Sephiroth's "I will never be a memory" line.
Well, she is a walking reference to Sephiroth.
We thought it was a Gundam, but it was actually an Eva! And it's gone berserk!
What
I remarked to my party at the end of my first run "The Sazabi actually turned out to be an Angel from Evangelion... true terror!"
I loved this lol.
edit: typo fix :3
This was so Eva. I loved it.
You couldn't tell it was an Eva by that big ass core?
>Oh the VIIth legion is making these weapons? thats a fun callback to FFVII

It's even funnier because Outrage is a *Dragon* type move.
Nael: [Comes back again]
Warriors of Hydaelyn: *sigh* How many times do we have to teach you this lesson, Van Darnus?
Players: Stay where you belong; In our memories.

The dauntless raven
The dauntless raven
The dauntless raven rises up
From on high, he marks the past;
Marks the present; marks the future

When the Latin intensifies and you start to panic.
Bruh, I am shook.
I've never been so thankful and disappointed at the same time about not having voice lines for a trial. I don't think I could handle hearing that transition, but...It would make it pack even more of a punch.
So, watching the post-fight cutscenes and learning that the pilot's body, mind, and soul were burned as fuel to make that thing just makes me wonder how the hell anyone who claims to want to follow in Gaius's footsteps would ever agree to this. At the least, I hope we develop some sort of jamming device to prevent this from happening a second, third, or fourth time.
There's this guy, from Final Fantasy VII. Did all kinds of horrible experiments, simply because he could. Went by the name of Hojo, and considering that several characters from XII have shown up in the Ivalice Raids (nevermind Omega pulling Kefka, Exdeath and Chaos from it's memory), I'll assume he's wormed his way in here until proven wrong.
Of course, if it is him, we all know that he very much deserves to be put through Oversoul... several times over.
Gaius.... Gaius would be *PUTRAGED* at this abomination
@@ezekielbaskerville2710 i said something similar about bagamnan from ffxii, but ffxiv bagamnan turned out to be the greatest character in the ivalice raids bar none.
Goddamn just thinking about what happened to him makes me mad. he deserved better.
knowing them, they'll make hojo an actual good character, not noble, just complex and relateable.
as opposed to ffvii where he is a literal mad scientist trope.
Well, there's two more of these in the franchise (that I can think of), so there could be one good and one bad.
Those being Verstael from XV and Lugae from IV. (when the Fiends are disgusted with your work, you mucked up something fierce)
And the Empire calls us savages.....
You thought your fight would be against another Ultima Weapon, but it's me! TURN 9!
I just noticed that her wings burst the same way Bahamut's did in the end of 1.0
And Shinryus in the fight with Omega
@@carlos-zy7vx Always in three's, I tell ye...
Nael Van Darnus: It's me, WoL! It was me all along, WoL!
You all bought it! You all bought it hook, line, and sinker! Even the first Emperor... even Emperor Solus zos Galvus bought it! Every one of you were made fools of! But you know... I really didn't want to do it! The savage made me. The Warrior of Light made me fool you. (S)he made me, because savage, I had to teach you a lesson that you would never, *ever* forget! And now savage... now you know: there is no price I will not pay! There is no depth I will not stoop, to make your life here on Hydaelyn savage, a total, complete, living *HELL!!*
Aw, son of a bitch!
*Nael McVan Darnus
This small section made my week. 👌
My friend and co-tank during the phase transition: "Don't scream too much, okay?"
I legitimately got all of the memories of doing T9 unsynced back in Heavensward flooding back to me and I was both happy and extremely fearful. Sweet Saint Shiva has this expansion been a ride.
Nael: *IT'S ME, AUSTIN!*
WOL: Ah, son of a bitch!
This fight gives me T9 PTSD.
GET BACK IN YOUR CAGE, EULA.
2:09 man I LOVE this part. I get chills everytime
I love how phase 1 has gundam references and phase 2 goes full icky sticky evangelion
So it's now confirmed in-game that the Nael we fought and kept fighting was actually his sister, and that the real Nael's been dead for a while.
Jacob Kern
That has been confirmed for a while
Yeah I mean, does that look like a man to you 😂😂?
@@Darksaviour That's why they said in-game. Before then we only had the lore book to go by, as in-game dialogue was... uuuuuuuh.
@@Nesaru that's the fault of the translation being different from the Japanese for the Nael fight in Coil. I forget the wording but in Japanese it is far more overt to the fact it's not Nael
Don't you straight up find out it's not Nael after you beat Turn 9?
When Yoshi P asks "What Would Hideaki Anno Do?"
Fighting Ruby Weapon Normal gave me fond flashbacks of going through Coils with my FC after finishing ARR.
Learning EX gave me horror flashbacks of T9. An awesome fight when you do get it down though!

Lol
As a 1.0 player doing this fight when it released....I LOST MY GODSDAMNED MIND!!!! NAEL?!?! RETURNED VIA GARLEAN+ALLAGAN SHENANIGANS???! Fools almost caused another Calamity! One of my favorite encounters in the entire game. Made the rest of the fights in the quest series disappointing lol. And that new rendition of Rise of the White Raven?!? Flawless.
Alright Square, who let Yoko Taro write the script for this fight?
Warriors of Light: I fear nothing

Warriors of Light : I fear one thing
PTSD of TURN 9
The Evangelion vibes from this twist were insane. I loved every second of it.
Not gonna lie, when I did this for the first time when it came out, the sight of Dalamud falling gave me some major flashbacks of my time during 1.0's final hours. The end of 1.0 will forever be etched into my mind because of just how creepy the whole event was.
Despite all the trouble it gave me and my FC, I thought that Ruby was a bit on the easy side for a properly geared party.
Then this happened.
I have never been so upset about being right.
This was a fantastic fight :v I said "gg team" and then the boss was like ".... no ;v"
I did not expect a fake-out ending like that lol. This was quite the fun fight imo. Great songs too :D
You're back again?! Gosh Darnus!
Y'know I didn't need a flashback to the month of prog in T9 with my BLU static just two months ago, Ruby Weapon.
Three more Weapons (Sapphire, Diamond, Emerald) and the Warrior of Light has fought three other Legati (Regula, Zenos, Gaius). I guess that's where these fights are going.
Yeah, but Regula liked us, and both Zenos and Gaius are still alive.
Hell, isn't Gaius the one who you talk to when you start this whole quest chain?
@@jacobkern2060 the point is if ruby weapon used combat data from nael it stands to reason that the others could use combat data from the other legati
Zeno and Gaius are still "technically" alive, so while I can give you Regula, I'm thinking they might pull Rhitatyn out from his grave for whatever fight Regula isn't in.
Either that.... or we go full EVA and bring back that bitch Livia.
@@AshramIndustries Given the NPCs piloting and the connection to Gaius.... I'm expecting Livia.
My fav and first EX that I ran
Neal: THIS MOON EMPTY! *YEET*
Me: never fought T9 before but been researching Nael and hear their theme from Eorzean Symphony 2018 at work over and over
One fateful day: -passed Ruby weapon, got weird cutscene, expecting phase 2, Return of White Raven from Eorzean Symphony 2018 remix plays as wings sprout out-
Me: O_O .............. Oh shiet, I'm too not ready about this rumoured hell ptsds
2:25 i fucking love this part the timing with the music
That hot bar layout looks so good
Incredible music. All the music in Shadowbringers has been great but they've really hit an amazing stride with this update.
I saw the Dalamud gauge and shit my pants.
I was squeeing the whole fight! I always wanted a recreation of it since I never played 1.0
How about Coils Turn 9?
Leave it to Soken to go from loud vocal yelling guitar rock to OPERA
For me, this went full awesome when at last 10% percent of health and everyone is just wailing on the boss with 'outrage' going off. Reminds me of the cool way hades went full light v dark for last bit of HP.
Me, at the start of the fight:
"Oh God, why does it have teeth"
Me, at 0:26
OH GOD WHY DOES IT HAVE TEETH
T9... I didn't need to remember that xD
As someone who never did the coil, this piece hit me like a Russian Choir barrage.
Eiensakura its amazing cuz in T9 when the original song plays, a giant tower like thing stabs the center of the room and does this big aoe attack. Its one of my favorite fights in this game. Beating it was one of my biggest hell yeah moments in the game.
My reaction was OH NO NOT AGAIN
1:50 fav part
dear lord, I only watched the first part out of curiosity (and for a few tips) and almost shit my pants as this happened
*(T9 PTSD intensifies)*
I knew going in it was two phase but that was all I knew. Holy shit this phase was amazing. ALL THE METEORS.
I have a music replacement plugin, and I swapped out gaius's ARR fight theme for this and its so good
Safer Sephiroth FF7 Remake vibes incoming
Remember the folly of The White Raven.
I think Regula van Hydrus will be Sapphire Weapon's soul crystal.
Hydrus, Livia, Zenos, and perhaps Solus in his prime
Given the usual pattern of 7 extreme trials per expansion, and having a final final boss to transition from the last expansion to the next storyline in each x.3 patch, there will probably only be 3 weapon fights and we'll have to wait for 5.4 for the next weapon
I think they mentioned some, like the next one, are gonna be solo instances
@@FF-tp7qs 5.4 patch trailer has been released
;_;
You thought the trial was over? Too bad! Dalamud time!
I managed to beat Nael on Min Ilvl like 2 months before i got to this fight so when she appeared i got instant meteor, divebomb and elemental attack ptsd
She became a dragon smegma. Nael you damned furry.
First phase theme: "Ehh, whatever. Sounds alright."
Second phase theme: "CORVUS FORTIS ASCENDIT!!!!" :D
I'm the opposite tbh
I remember my son and I were playing and my son had cait smith on his team ,cait smith put together the cat at the bottom and it made a move ..all it said was game over showed a little specter and 1 swoop of his scythe ruby was gone , we just sat there in awe .
*"HOH NO (S)HE'S HOOOOT!!!"*
Neo: I'm baaaaaack
Wol: *stay deeeeeeeaaaad*
so its sapphire next then from what im guessing its em weapon and last diamond
Just realized this is the song that plays when you fight Gaius in the praetorium sounded so different with lyrics to me lol.
ayyy congrats on finding your spoon
Kinda like the original Rise of the Whiten Raven theme better than the orchestra video bjt damn. The dalamud dropping in the bg is scary af.
this actually gives me Ivalice feel
imagine fighting Nael ala FF XII or FF Tactics A
managed to evade this whole spoilers
how did it take me this long to realize that this is Gaius' theme in prae
This song is from 1.0, nael's part of the imperial legion, the background song is the typical theme used for imperial legion bosses but since nael almost doomed the entire world at the end of 1.0 she gets cool latin lyrics
it's not the same without the 'Ding' of the meter filling. jk jk thank you for uploading this!

Which Nael?
@@TheEmperorHyperion yes
@@TheEmperorHyperion Yula, the one we actually fight in game. And fight in game. And fight in game.
And fought in the previous version of the game. Who in-game actually killed the Legacy version. (What with it's shutdown cutscene being Dalamud crashing...)
Legacy, Binding Coil, Ultimate Bahamut and now Ruby Weapon. And theoretically, we'll likely fight Gaius a fourth time, too, once the next Weapon comes. (Gaius himself, Ultima Weapon, and Ultimate Ultima Weapon so far. No, I'm not calling it UWU.)
*YAAAAARGGG INTENSIFIES *
My initial reaction to this part: CAN YOU FUCKING STAY DEAD ALREADY?!!
Aw shit. Here we go again
For a split second I thought this was the Final Fantasy 7 remake and Ruby Weapon was leaked and almost had a heart attack.
Anyone else reminded of Alexia ashford from resident evil xd
T9 pstd flashbacks intensifies
Joe goes up strong
It's not like we got UCOB or anything already LOL. They love Turn 9.
I only question how the Empire found out about the truth of Nael
If memory serves, nobody knew about it at all and Nael's 'rise' from the dead was something of a miracle, as well as the tempering stuff being a binding coils thing for the most part
Notice how during the fight she comments on Dalamud itself being a "divine entity", rather than what's inside it (i.e. Bahamut).
So I guess her obsession of it before her disappearance/death was well-known.
@@elinfini Makes me curious about Midas now too, what with us going to Bozja
@@Volothos It was super obvious from the beginning
Call me crazy but the trumpets at 1:27 sound super familiar. What song is that from?
This is a remix of the Rise of the White Raven.
Gaius' Theme, Bite of the Black Wolf is the same melody and cues, using more solo violin in place of the Latin Choir. If you've been doing a lot of Praetorium for leveling, you'd recognize it easily.
99times i had to endure it to get my mount... truly such devastation
WHERE IS MY KEYS, WHERE ARE THEY?! is what I heard at the start.
Turn 9 Vietnam PTSD !
Me in phase 1 "Huh the HP goes down fast doesn't it, seems easy"
Phase 2 "This game gives me trust issues"

This was such a treat as a first time run. I remember the chat going
"NAEL?!"
"NOPENOPENOPENOPE"
"EWWWW"
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH"
Man this fight sucked but I'm kind of sad its over-
That's a cutscene. That was phase 1.
That was phase 1. Oh nononono
Sucked? Phase 1 is awesome.
BIG FAT TACOS!
Is this the guy who sang skyies above?
NO
FUCKING
WAY
I may have missed it, but did we ever find out why Nael of all people crawled out of the corpse of Ruby Weapon?
The dialogue during the fight outright says why it happened.
Long story short: the Weapon was loaded with Nael's combat data, and in the event of malfunction/damage, it "overrides" its pilot with it (with the help of whatever Primal essence it had absorbed beforehand).
So it's not _really_ Nael, but a copy/clone (one that wasn't aware of Dalumud's true purpose at the time).
I want someone to explain the FUCK happened in that last phase!
It clearly wasn't the actual Dalamud coming down, so was it a hallucination? Meteor with a Dalamud skin? It was meant to be one of those "Super attacks" that bosses like to use in other FF titles, but surely if Dalamuds were falling all around it would be doing some damage to the land?
Considering that the Ruby Weapon was powered up by Eikons, it could also be a case of their power altering the environment (as we saw with Tsukuyomi for instance).
