The piece on the back of the mortise cylinder that engages/disengages the lock is called a cam,not "a lever" and the stem attached to a rim cylinder is called a tailpiece.The "flat metal plate" that you refer to in the video is called the spring cap,the spring cap is rarely,if ever removed for rekeying lock cylinders.That plastic tool that you demonstrate is called a follower and what's more the follower should be turned either to the 11 O'clock position or to the 1 O'clock position before the plug is pused out with the follower to ensure that none of the driver pins (top pins) hang up on the follower's notch.Very bad advice as to when to insert the key into the cylinder.The key should only be inserted into the cylinder after the cam is dettatached from the cylinder and the plug is ready to be removed with the follower otherwise the plug may inadvertently slide out of the hull and you will end up spending a good deal of time searching for the key pins,the driver pins and the pin springs all over your floor,if you can find them all.When ever I have to rekey a cylinder I always use rubber o-rings to keep the follower from sliding out of the hull.
One suggestion is that when you reinsert the plug, try to trun the tlug a little towards the one o clock position so that you do not end up with a gap between the plug and follower.
Very nice video! I have an ignition Lock (from a Renault Clio 2) wich is very similar to this one. I cleaned it up very well and now I thinking what kind of lubricant to use. Do you know wich one I can use?

Didn't say that the (offset) is very important when following the core. I seen where the Vid restarted bcz the follower gap was at 90°. And the "lock" is a Mortice cylinder
The different size bottom pins are numerically coded, depending on the key way type. The sequence of numbers starting with the pin closest to the front of the key way where the key inserts, is the key code and it can be given to any key cutter to make a key that will fit the rekeyed lock.

please in the future familiarize yourself with the proper terminology for parts on locks if you’re gonna talk about them. That is a cam on the back of your lock it is a Yale type cam . there are more than a dozen variations of cams
