    Thank you for sharing your findings with us, I enjoyed watching your 85 and 40 pankace videos alot. The fun of photography is feelable through this channel.
    To this day this video is relevant as there are more than ever adapter brands and new firmware upgrades, making old EF lenses compelling to fit on the Fuji.
    If you would have said 10 years ago, when Fuji was making APS-C cameras, that Canons 35mm EF lenses would some day fit on future to come Fuji's Medium format cameras, like a glove like a mariage" every one would think its impossible...

    You are very honest and you have gone to a lot of trouble to experiment before putting your video out here. I think you saved me a lot of personal experimentation. I'm familiar with the 85mm f1.2 II lens - have had it in the past - so I appreciate you sharing your experience with this setup. The lens choice really makes the image. Again, thanks. Wow, eye tracking...amazing. And I'm stealing your quote next time somebody says some piece of equipment is too heavy: "You do what you gotta do if you want those images." *applause*

      @@JoeDAgostinoPhoto I'm sorry to bother you with a question - but I wondered...with the 85mm f1.2...or any of these Canon lenses you've mentioned - like the 135 f2 - on the Techart adapter...what is focusing? The adapter or the lenses? I'm assuming the adapter???? If that is the case, would it matter if the 85mm f1.2 was the original version or the II version?

    • @pegshealth
      @pegshealth 5 років тому +1

      It looks like from what I've read that this particular Techart adapter uses the focusing motor in the Canon lenses.

    • @JoeDAgostinoPhoto
      @JoeDAgostinoPhoto  5 років тому

      Peggy Stevinson Bair questions are never a bother. That’s why I do these videos. The adapter doesn’t not contain a motor. It only relays electrical signals and houses contacts for your Canon EF Mount lenses. Sigmas work too. It allows for focusing using the lens motors normally just as the native camera would. It will also allow for full aperture control and Exif data info. Any of the 85mms will work. Even the 85mm 1.8 to save a few bucks.

    • @pegshealth
      @pegshealth 5 років тому +1

      @@JoeDAgostinoPhoto Okay, I presently have the 85 f1.8 so that will buy me some time until I can make a decision on other lenses. I wanted to get a Milvus 85mm but without the focusing motor, it's not really a great option. I have other legacy 85mm lenses I can adapt. Adapting has made photography incredibly interesting.

    Have you tried and compared TECHART vs FRINGER adapter?
    Would you choose one over the other for your own taste and style of photography? Build quality, speed of autofocus?

    EF 24-105mm don't bother.
    70-200mm f4 works well. Still a tiny bit of vignetting but not hard edged, still really usable.
    17-40mm works well but vignettes at 17mm all apertures but usable from 20mm onwards but stop down to at least f8-16. Corners still pretty soft.

    Dear Joe, great video, very informative. When you adapt the Canon EF lens onto the Fujifilm GFX body, does the image fill the sensor? I mean, the EF is designed for a smaller, 35mm sensor. Just curious! Thanks.

    • @JoeDAgostinoPhoto
      @JoeDAgostinoPhoto  2 роки тому +2

      Thank you for your comment. Yes it fills the sensor depend on your lens choices. I’ve tested the 40mm pancake, 50mm 1.2, 85mm 1.2 and the 135/2. They all work with the exact of the 50mm which displays more vignettes.

    Thanks for making this helpful video Joe! You also have the Canon EF 135 f2. How is your experience with this lens on the fuji? I really would like to see some high-res files from both the 135 and 85 ! I am thinking of buying a GFX 50r, but at this moment I can't afford more than one native lens. (the GF 50 3.5).

  • @dobermanUK
    @dobermanUK 5 років тому +2

    Joe,
    Did you find the focus being always accurate with the face/eye auto-detection on? I could see the face/eye being detected on the EVF, but the end result looked as if the camera focused somewhere on the face, but not always on the eye. I was using the Sigma 105mm f1.4 wide open, so the DOF is quite thin to start with. It has been raining lately, and I haven't had the chance to try it since. I also used the Sigma 50mm f1.4 and it is a beautiful combo. My 200mm f2.8 Canon would find the face/eye but most of the times it would back focus. I am using the Kipon adapter, but maybe moving the autofocus point manually is a better option for this lens/adapter.

      @@JoeDAgostinoPhoto Joe, I finally got my copy of the 85 1.2, what a combination! At f1.2, the images appear so dreamy - compressed, yet with a wider FOV (it does vignette very slightly at 1.2 but I really like the look when it does, it really adds to the image). It might be my perception that this lens renders slightly softer than a typical Fuji lens, say a 63mm. It could be because I recently turned the in-camera sharpness down. I would have tried doing a comparison but I care less for sharpness. Face/Eye tracking works great even when shooting a large group from a distance of 50 feet. Thank you so much for your guidance!

    I bought this adapter because all the reviews were good, but one thing was not ..
    it's the long-term test, it's been 15 months that I have this product, and overnight it stopped working normally
    I updated it but, nothing helps ..
    and the best thing is that I contacted techart, and they are not responding.
    and find out that there is no one in the world to repair their product.
    in short, a ring at 500 dolls, for a year + of shooting, it's expensive ..
    it will serve as an ashtray now, because no one can repair it,
    I am very angry .

    I would prefer FD 85mm 1.2 over EF. No electricity inside , no focus by wire, no plastic. EF motor may fail at some point where FD will work for centuries. Also great value for your children to pass as a heritage. And don’t get me wrong but I do believe being a little bit slower at focus is actually better to get a quality photo. You are slower and you may re-analyze the whole frame while focus peaking.

    it does feel a bit bad that there's less reason to use the GFX lens itself and better to adapt the full frame lens and most likely get more bokeh.
    unless its to get a wide angle lens or the zoom lens?
