    Nice video! I’m actually in the middle of putting back together all the Tiffany sets from 84-91. I have completed the 88 and 89. They are surprisingly hard to find a lot of the commons. Without spending a ton of money. The star cards were the easiest to get! Thanks for the video

      Oh wow you are reassembling sets from loose cards! Impressive!!

    • @DubsCards
      @DubsCards День тому +1

      @ yes sir! I bought a partial set of each ( over the spell of three years when I could find them cheap) and now I’m scouring card shops and eBay listings trying to find deals! Haha. I know when I get done with each that it will cost more in the long run than just buying the completed sets. But there is a certain satisfaction in bringing them back together. As there is only a finite amount of each card. Let me know if you run across lots of these. I’d make some offers on them! Thank you. Nate

      @@sportscardsedgevery true. My goal was to just get the cards I loved as a kid but in a better form. There's a video of a guy on UA-cam that has an incredible Tiffany rookie collection. Probably the most amazing collection I've ever seen.

    Great idea for a video, I still have my 1984 through 1986 regular and update Tiffany sets. I believe these early Tiffany sets are underpriced..

    • @sportscardsedge

      Totally agree they are under valued currently for how rare they are

    Great video! Thanks. A couple things though, like someone already brought up the football and hockey sets but on your main cards in sets, 1984 is not Sandberg's rookie,that's 2nd year,if it was rookie it would be a lot higher! Also 1990 Topps the Frank Thomas is the most expensive one($2600-$3k) and doesn't pop up for sale very often,and the price of a 90 Bowman Tiffany Frank Thomas goes for a lot more, $1700-$1900 range. PSA 9's go for $150-$200. Otherwise great video, keep them coming!

      Awesome, great catches! I try my best to get it all right but as you can see I don't always! Especially when the mic is rolling I can often mispeak about a rookie card etc

    One reason the premium might not be as high as the population difference is because the Tiffany cards came in sets only so will tend to be in better condition. That said I agree that they are much better investments long term due to their limited supply in an era of extreme oversupply.

    • @sportscardsedge
      @sportscardsedge  13 годин тому

    We sold those in the 80s. We priced them 10x base price. We were one of the few dealers to have them.

    The stars are an indicator but not always reliable. I had an 87 Maddux without the stars the was a base traded, and PSA verified it as base. The only true way to verify those is having them side by side.

    • @sportscardsedge
      @sportscardsedge  10 годин тому

      Yes I found a source that scoures sales of Tiffany sets and their serial number and condition (opened or sealed etc) and they have some of the best estimates out there based on the highest serial numbers ever found and keep it all in a Google doc by year

    What about hockey & football in 1990?

    • @Gronk79
      @Gronk79 21 годину тому

      The Football set is very expensive. I have key cards from the 1990 Topps Hockey set, but the 1990 Bowman set has a poor checklist & don't forget Topps made a Tiffany "Desert Storm" factory set from the 1st Gulf War.

    If Topps had a monopoly on baseball cards in those 25 years, how do you explain fleer 1963 baseball?

    • @sportscardsedge
      @sportscardsedge  6 годин тому

      Good question I cover this in my history of fleer video but in short fleer constantly fought against Topps’s exclusive rights to baseball cards and got a small win in court in 1962 that led them to make the 1963 cards but that decision was quickly overturned in Topps’s favor and it wouldn’t be until 1981 that Fleer could win again in court
