    Been playing drums for about 10 years and feel my skill level has been stagnant for at least half of that time. Drumeo has got me realizing so many ways I can work on my skills that i never realized and finally given me realizations on ways to improve Independance, which has been one of the things I care about the most. Thank you Jared, you're a drumming saint.

      Don't knock yourself you have been stagnant playing stagnant and that stagnant masters more by playing less, when you click into using the left foot high hat 8th notes it should only take you about a year or 2 to go pro in most genres.

    I just got my e-kit a few days ago and seeing my independence developing rapidly over the last few days has been the most fun, addicting and satisfying experience of learning in my life. I played trumpet in elementary and play keys as a songwriter so picking up drums has been something I’ve always wanted to do and I’m so grateful for all the amazing resources you guys provide on this platform and Museo. I know when I get stuck on something you’ll be there to help me break through. Thank you so much!

    This is very funny. this is exactly what I am practicing at the moment (foot ostinato + Simple rudiments, and incorporating the left foot on my go to beats, shuffle...), with a kit set up that is nearly the same haha. I think that this lesson should be a go to for every drummers. It helps a lot not only with independence but also musicality and comfortability HAHA! ;) Thanks Jared.

    Thanks to drumeo for all that great lessons on UA-cam!
    While I love to see inspiring world leading drummers lessons (please don't stop),
    it is always great to see "one of us" explaining things "normal" drummers struggle with.
    You even share your own practicing experience, which is really very helpful!

      Johnny T Those leaders are "normal." We all start somewhere and the only thing that separates us is the amount of time we put in behind the kit. They're no different than you.

    please do a video on these odd eight note polyrythms and/or eight note fivelets, some rhythms that make the transition to a high level drummer very hard. Nobody has made in-depth videos on these topics which makes me very mad.

    Does anyone know what Jared uses to mount that middle PSTX swiss cymbal between the two toms? I have a post coming up between my two toms but I don't know of anything that will accept that big of a diameter. Most of dog bone type attachments go to the upper part of a cymbal boom which is much smaller than that center post. (I have a Mapex Saturn III not a Yamaha if that matters at all.)

    I thought independence meant playing different tempos with different limbs, .e.g 5/4 with left hand and 6/8 with right hand.

    • @sevenfacecomplex
      @sevenfacecomplex 7 років тому

      Vincent Musolino tempos? you mean time signitures? you are right though. say he played a double parradiddle like his song solo. under those ostinatos you'd have 6 ov 4 . if you play fiveydiddle ull have 5 ov 4. however even within 4 u have insane independence like playing rumba or cascara with combos. jazz can be independent within rate. binary vs trinary.. quintuplets. it still becomes two hands playing independently. what you refer to is poly rhythmic independence. the best is accent grids over ostinatos. not enough to just play paraparadiddle.

    Don't know if it's compression or someone purposefully turning the level down and back up, but I can't believe after all this time Drumea hasn't figured out a way to allow us to not miss half every sentence the teacher says after striking a drum...
    There _are_ ways to strike a drum AND be heard.
