Towing I just turn off lane assist put it into sport and she tows beautifully . Off road she hasnt missed a beat especially on the beach where she spends most her off road life and in my view fantastic look in the cab and rides like a car on the road smoother than any of the utes I have driven previously and I only own the base model so not sure what you guys were driving but it certainly wasnt what I drive you must have got lemon , If I was going to have a whine at all it would be four things no back interior light in the cab a lag in the turbo and the accelerator is not smooth and the on going self clean which in themselves are ok but if they dont do a proper clean you have to do a manual clean which is 20 minutes and usually come up at the most inconvenient moments like going to work making you late as you cant drive while a manual burn is taking place. good video , but what happened to the LDV ?? i drive one now for work and would have been keen to see what the LDV compared .
I’m guessing the Amarok didn’t make it to the track due to a failed starter motor or coolant leak?
I’ve got a amarok 2017. They replaced the starter motor in warranty, after they failed to diagnose it several times, and had road assist called several times, and went back to vw on a flat bed truck.
Ongoing DPF issues.
Now out of warranty and I’ve got coolant leaks going on.
DPF problems the worst of it.
Buyer beware!!
@@MrGregorburnett My story is identical except I smelled the coolant leak from new. Now it’s out of warranty VW want $$$ to fix it. Google says its a common problem. Forums suggest there should be a recall. VW ignores the problems until media or government get involved. This is my last VW. Worst product support. No confidence in their products. A real lemon!
How much did the big bigs payed you?
looks like a lot
Just asking. Why is the Amakrok excluded?
Because it wasn’t a Ford Ranger, 😂😂😂…
Rangers have q better driving feel than Amaroks?
10 times better!
@@puidldoc4913 you sound like you never sat in a V6 amarok.
Guys, maybe you should include two more aspect to your analisys:
- the crash test stars by authority
- the quality of he ensambling and material resultante to rough use (this maybe needs some braking things Burger....
“I expected more from the cannon by GWN” “U got what u paid for”
不用太放在心上,国外网友也不是傻子。都在骂收了Ford的钱!
wow those rangers are awesome and to think there 10 years old and still head and shoulders above the new ones One can only think of how good the news ones are cumming out later this year or next year when ever there getting released cant wait
Why no Amarok?
Hahah cause that would be unfair.
Wheel:GWM coming to pay some money. otherwise you gonna comparing with Mercedes next time.
Where is the AMAROK? This is all bullshit without the AMAROK!
Yeah it would have probably topped the list if it were on it
Yep. Not interested in this now. Cannot believe they left the Rok off.
I know you guys claim you go into this without any bias but after watching the comments about GWM cannon I am not that sure that you arent bias against the Chinese utes even if you dont realize it, I have owned the cannon since May 2021 I have had it on road and off road and I tow my camper trailer pretty much every few weeks and I have to say I pretty much disagree with almost everything your guys have said. I have had to do it twice but all in all I have no real complaints about performance mine costed 35000 on the road and I have no regrets what so ever it does everything I need it to do and more
Love love love the Ford Ranger
Where's the VW Amarok?! From what I see on the road, these seem to be pretty close to the Hilux for top sellers??
I have installed 30mm wheel spacers after a 2 inch suspension lift on Prado.
The wheels are still stock.
I have 3 options.
Should I get -12 offset and remove spacers?
Or
Keep spacers with stock wheels
Or
Get -12 offset and let the wheel spacers be there..
Cannon is a fantastic ute with great potential they didn't even engage expert mode😂 and still climbed the hill.
It still lacks a decent dealer network. Something they don't mention much. But after sale customers service counts.
@@wickedleeloopy2115 the Rivian the e pickup from usa is olso grat but same problems. No dealers no idea how long it will last
totally agree mine is a beast on the beach and town my camper
If you are tight in the budget you can get:
MITSUBISHI TRITON (For reliability)
GWM CANNON (if you want premium add-ons included)
if you can spare some money get:
Toyota Rugged X (Reliability and cheap parts)
Toyota SR5 (should i say more?)
Ford Ranger Raptor (my dream ute 🤣)
Mazda BT-50 Thunder (cheap dressed up)
this is based on my preference. 😁
I'm surprised that use brits got the mitsubishi L200 svp. What is a limited edition pick up with uprated suspension, tyres and a custom leather interior and custom body panels. But I don't know if you aussies did not get anything like this to what I know of. Please correct me if I am wrong
"Who has a handbrake anymore"...Every model in this video shown with handbrake.
Trucks need handbrake .... These people will complain with handbrakes on sportcars
The cannon will be in the top 5 selling its in Australia soon.
I agree!! Before July 2022. I seen a few. Now... 2023. New stock. They everywhere. Looked funny at the beginning but from overall prospective. They alright. Big and bold. I was going to buy one, i went for Musso instead. Not everybody going to spend $60+ with a loan repayment over 5 years. $40k with 10k accessories.
So, to clarify, the most expensive ute won? Who would have though it. :P Add a comparison of price please - ranger low end costs more than triton top end.
I thought the Ranger Raptor was the most expensive, followed by the Rubicon
@@markmckay1568 Yeah, but those are custom jobs (raptor for pomp, the rubicon like a Jimny off-road toy). I'm just saying it's dumb to compare high/low models and not factor price. E.g., the ranger is bigger and stronger than a navara, but the navara also costs like 10K less.
You can ask 10 people's opinion, and get 12 different answers. Bottom line. Ranger has more techno recalls than anything else here. My first advice is take GWM for a spin before you buy ANY of these. Then try to explain why you need to pay and extra 20K. This is why they ran budget interiors seperate
Ranger also won the towing but it’s a horrible tow with 10 speed it’s constantly changing gears
Riding comfort vs durability and total satisfaction for low cost maintenance and availability of spare parts almost everywhere. That is lead by Toyota hilux followed by Isuzu dmax and Nissan navarra.
Agree on the hilux and dmax, but my nephew who is a mechanic, said they have so many navaras in with engine issues. Said he'd never touch one. The hilux and dmax were the two he did mention as being very reliable.
When are you going to try petrol against diesel at towing in performance and fuel consumption when towing.
What about the dual cab land rover defender
Or the ram.
A ancap rating or similar test or rating on the vehicles overall safety would be a good inclusion.
Why no LDV T60 ute here as out sold GWM and Jeep . 🤔
Next year. A new benchmark in ute market begins. #nextgenranger
I'll go with the bullet proof Isuzu 3 litre over the Ford 2 litre Bi Turbo. It'll last longer.
the 3.2 is a pretty well tested reliable unit though
Why didn't you incl Mahindra Pik Up in the budget category?? Surprising
They recommend a Ford as the winner. Whats surprising anymore?😂
Is tata xenon out from Australia
Hey, man, I don't know why you are full of prejudice against GWM, but I still choose to buy GWM.
I cringe everytime I hear international reporters refer to something as “very unique”. Unique should be enough.
I am really keen to know how the Mahindra Black Hawk fares in these tests, heard some great reviews from friends
I think it's a different kind of car, more rugged and ready - non compromising. I've heard someone describe it as a budget 70 series...
@@MrSchulta thanks mate !
However would've been nice to get some in depth reviews. I am seriously seeking to learn more
So the triton here has the 4d56 engine, not the mivec-equipped 2.4 4n15?
4n15 mate
@@anthonyramdin1037 im not sure, but i think he said it was a 2.5, not 2.4.
I was hoping for the LDV T60 to be on here
I stopped watching when I realized there was no Amarok.
I agree👍🍻
What happened to the vw amarok????
I purchased an XLT a couple of years ago and after driving most of the other brands the Ranger was the best all rounder and had the best standard options and safety gear !
Definitely was years ago for power torque and speed if you could get it out of the mechanics but now it’s outdated
@@samwood225 blows the toyota away for price, room, power, comfort and safety features ... and the new model will be class leader for power
@@pablorages1241 yep agree Toyota is not what it used to be I guess we will only see in time how good this new ranger will be or we could see the same thing happen with more problems with the advancement
No LDV - particularly megatub - which is think is the best of the entry level dualcabs
didn't see nissan in the film, how did you grade it at all??
Leave the 500kg in the tray while you do the off road test !!
Is that the track owned by vinfast..?
People complain about the Hilux interior. I think it’s actually the most stylish of the utes.
20 years ago who would have thought ' Wheels ' has become 'Truck Monthly '.
Ute Monthly not the US
@@robertryan7204 I loved the tests of the Aussie Ute's, these ones are so different. Over 3 years and its still hard to accept no Australian cars.
@@mvnorsel6354 that is unfortunately how we have become
@@bens6674 I understand your lack of interest since Australian cars ceased production. I still subscribe but its just not the same.
Where is the Amarok V6?????
Asset write off subsidy has made these utes too expensive for private buyers and Hilux tops commercial sales and is #1 seller due to this however great to see Wheels recognise how popular these are as lifestyle vehicles - I’d take the Jeep just coz 👍
Same here if it was diesel.
They state that it’s to find the best dual cab Ute but don’t have one of the best utes the Amarok. Load of BS
They have stopped making the amarok.... Hate to dissapiont you.
I reckon that VW didn’t want their truck anywhere near these muppets as probably a couple of other brands
You guys should've got the top spec GWM. Its still alot cheaper than the rest of the field
and still a heap of junk
pity reliability isn't taken into account, rangers dropping gears and blown engines would win in the unreliability category
Why the obsession with acceleration? These vehicles are not about performance but reliability while working hard
In my country, with the price of the Jeep Gladiator you can buy 2 Ranger Raptor. But in Aus they're almost at the same price.
Ram?
Funny how after driving all except for the Gladiator, because who wants a ute with only 600kg payload) I ended up with a Musso XLV leaf and have no regrets...
u will when it cheap metal starts rusting from as little as condesation lol
@@skitzy2726 hahaha. The Korean rhino has been on Double island point too many times in the last two years. No rust mate. That is an exclusive feature of ldv and gwm. Have fun with your Thai made ute or worse still Chinese.
Have a read about the SsangYong cheap metal doesn't even fit in the same sentence.
@@munecito my utes japan made bud , good effort tho
@@skitzy2726 Japan made. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Good one bud. No ute for sale in Australia is made in Japan. Not even Hilux or Navara. Unless we are talking about the ute in which Ned Kelly rode
@@munecito i got a datsun 720 with the original motor lol
Just as well they tested these utes from 0-100. Such real world application🤦♂️
How about they do comparisons on base model utes, not top of the range when the average person can’t afford them at the ridiculous prices.
I dont pull that much with a trailer but I put loads on my bed. I prefer riding comfort with my beloved family so I think Navara does the job for me. I really do hope Nissan did much better dashboard but thats not something that could make me not buy one.
terrible comparison guys, lift your game, get some 4x4 pro's involved.
Y al final cuál es la mejor..?
As they said you get what you pay for, so Isuzu and Mazda next time you give wheels your cars to review make sure you pay them correctly so you get the better review just like the ford and GWM got.
