I just wanted to say thank you for sharing. This and your other video really connect with my own experiences. I kinda cope with my own perceived lack of creative genius by pushing myself to master technical aspects of creative skills, only to then apply them cautiously or not at all because I doubt the value of my own creative ideas. It's something I struggle with a lot, too.
Laura, thank you so much for your comment. I totally empathize with your pursuit of technical mastery! I find myself doing similar things-it’s a form of procrastination, another way for our brains to protect themselves from scrutiny. Can’t be judged if you never make your work, right? I think more than anything you should remember this: your art has value. Creativity is humanity expressing itself, and that is inherently valuable. And the great thing is that now you have so many skills with which to express your creativity!
