44 years I worked in care never heard anything like it you are entitled to your time off it's their problem if they have messed it up not yours I would go to the doctors and ask him to sign you off for 3 weeks or do they expect you to find your own cover if you go off sick I think they are breaking the law !!😡 In care they seem to think they can treat the staff like shit gets me so mad 😡😡

When I worked in a care home and it we wanted annual leave we would fill out a form saying what shift you would have been on and add up the hours etc. If we needed to swop a shift then we would ask a carer to swop and let the senior know and she would see to it. I’ve worked in care for many many years in both community and in care home. Never ever have I ever had to find my own cover for annual leave. I would def take it higher I would even go to CQC if you have to coz that’s not right xxx
Unless its explicitly a stated term of your employment contract, ( which would be incredibly unusual) thats not legal. There are plenty of care jobs. I'd move on tbh.

Hi Faye, Where I am working you can get annual leave if it is booked far enough in advance. If it is short notice though then we have what is called a swap shift rota. That is when we have to ask someone else to cover a shift for us and then we cover theirs. It can be difficult though as not everyone wants to swap shifts.
Our workplace does a find your own cover policy but it’s in regards to actual shifts that have already been submitted - say I need the Wednesday off in three weeks I would be required to swap or give my shift away but not for annual leave? If you’ve got your contract have a look into it hun xxx❤️❤️❤️

If shifts have been covered you should be entitled to your holidays or atleast part of that time off… I’d look into flexible working whilst there and going through IVF hun (I’d say look for another employer but for maternity pay you will want to stick with your currently employer if you’ve been there long enough, please look into what they’ve done though hun! It's not your responsibility to ensure they have filled the rota. You are by law entitled to your annual leave and have to take it by the next tax year. So it's not a case of "sick leave" fair enough ask your mate for a favour and say you'll cover an extra shift of theirs in return. I used to mix days and nights (it was a killer) but I was happy to take the shifts for money. (One shift lasted over 37 hours straight due to the other senior not coming in, policy was if your handover doesn't come in you have to stay) It made me soooo poorly my dad had to physically come and collect me and drive me home as I was a zombie. But id question them on this. Fair enough if you know someone trying to pick up extra hours let them know that you're off xyz so they get first pickings. But that sounds proper dodgy. Are you in a union? It just seems really off xx

Make an account, take pictures of the item including the label, any marks, etc describe it and upload, it's a really simple format so easy to use, customer pays for postage.

If youre holiday had been approved id be querying why this has changed - its not your probelm if senior management didnt know if they arent the people you are required to submit your request to and your manager has approved it. Additionally, if theyre telling you you need to organise your own cover. Id ask them to direct you to this term in your contract, their handbook or where theyve advised you of this previously. Id personally also ask why youve never had to do this previously. Sincerely, someone who works in HR and despises companies shitting on people.
