- Welcome to another Cardigan Bay Fishing Adventures video.
In this video I pre prepare baits at home ready for the next shore session. I have never done this before. I'm hoping it will save me some time. The benefit of doing this is I take what I need for the session and I have no waste or defrosted bait that I won't use. These baits will go into an air-tight container. This saves any leaks in my fishing box, bait bag and also saves carrying the rubbish around with me. Another benefit of doing this is, not having to prep your baits on those winter nights when your hands are numb lol.... you know how it is. Wind, rain, freezing cold.... The last thing I enjoy doing is making cocktails while trying to watch for bites. Hopefully this way will help me see more bites and potentially land more fish.

Great informative video. Like the idea of using up the scraps in the squid as they are probably the most potent parts!
Ye Lewis pulled a few nice coddling out with them seemed to do the trick there is a couple videos above this one where I had the coddling on them baits
Ive done similar for a while now, wether winter or summer, day or night sessions.
Black lug, squid, crab, mussel, bluey and mackerel, all sorts of combo's.
Makes life so much easier when fishing. Takes no time to change a bait and bang the rig back out👍
The only baits i always use fresh really are blow lug and ragworm.

I haven't done any wraps this year yet. But need to start ready for the winter fishing. It really does save hassle and mess and gives more fishing time on the beach

I do briggsy, saves so much mess and hassle. Especially winter fishing it gives minimum contact time with bait and helps to keep your hands warmer.

Another informative video mate👍 I don’t think the baits I will be using will be as big but at least I’ve learned how to wrap 2 baits together. It would be good if you did a rig making video at some point, your camera is at a great angle for it 👍👍

Did you freeze the hook on this Dave in preparation for first case?
I'm trying to figure out if it's worth doing from home or not in preparation. I always sort my bait from home before each session less messing in getting a rig back out there.

I have done that in the past John. But now I take them out around 1-2 hours before I leave and you can hook them fine. Yes they are still frozen but never had any issues getting hook in

Really good video. I'm from a lure fishing background but getting a bit more into bait fishing these days and really like the way you present your baits. Did you find it more efficient to prepare them at home in the end?

It so much easier. And on them cold days your hands don't suffer either wrapping baits at the beach

Definitely at home Robert. Also I have no waste bait because I refreeze it and reuse it and I have found my cod catches have improved on the older baits that's have been in and out of freezer 3-6 times after 7 times they do seem to mushy to be fair

There great there is videos on here with me catching my pb cod on the baits they work very well and save so much hassle and time on the beach these lasted for 7 sessions being refroze etc

Yes wrap them and freezer them. If you vac pack them they last years

How long do you leave big baits out for before you change them on the basis they give out more scent ?
It depends on crab activity. I do my first cast and do a bait check after 15mins if the bait is intact I leave them out 30 mins tops and wind in and fresh bait goes out

I won't go into brand names but I've used several Crab stuffed squid cocktail-ready frozen baits The fish baits are handy But realy making your own is easy and better The stuffed squid Wash out so fast i cant really see the point Keep it up mate Good tips
Stuffing baits with offcuts saves chucking it away really it's extra scent I can't say I have proof it's a better catch rate it's more of a confidence thing I suppose.

Ye same here Peter with these I re freeze over and over I have done it up to 7 times and my catch rate seems to go up.

Can I make these with semi defrosted frozen bait then elastic them ready then freeze them up for ready to youse or will it go mushy on the the time I use them after defrosting?

Yes you can 💯 that's what I do I have mine in a air tight container they are in lug blood and guts and a bit of Solent sea goo I have taken the same tub of baits twice now and refrozen them so I know for a fact they last two trips the juice keeps them partly frozen but u can still pull them out because the sea goo don't freeze solid my next trip will be the third time so hopefully they are still ok if so I have saved 2 packs of squid and 2 packs of bluey so at the moment pre prepping the baits n freezing them down works and I caught that cod on the pre prepared baits they was like fresh baits

can these be refrozen m8 for future use ?
Yes kayak1969 I have so far refroze them up to 7 times and they did seem mushy or anything my last cod video I think it was and I caught on them fine makes live so much easier and there is no mess when your Fishing
