Another year has gone by, so I'm happy to share with you my top 10 purchases I made in modern card collecting. I'd love to hear from you on which are your favorites, either from my pickups or from your own collection!
Enjoyed the video. The fading stars time IMO is the safest sweet spot to do what your focusing on. I chose bobby witt jr as my chosen young star. I've been slowly gathering some nice stuff. I learned the hard way ages ago, not to follow a hype train. But still, it's fun to do as a kid and have a current player to enjoy.
Yes, safe is typically how I prefer to collect. That being said...Witt is a great choice if you're going to pick someone. What an amazing talent he is, I hope he's able to put that franchise back on the map over the next decade! Incredible tools and seems like a solid human being, so as long as injuries don't hit him he looks to be as safe a bet as you could find for a guy under 25.
@@brutusonbaseball It is. And I gotta say my collecting has come around to the same thing you do with modern players. From now on I'm not going to touch anyone with less than 40 WAR. It's fun collecting new rookies, but the pain of seeing those cards sell for 5 years later $5 is worse. My list of shame includes Wander, Xander, Eloy, Luis Robert, Yoan Moncada, George Springer, Kris Bryant, Rizzo, Javier Baez, Strasburg.....
Couldn't agree more. I haven't bought much after 2020, but I have my fair share of Robert and Bichette rookies that I wish I didn't have now. Just hoping for a good year from both so I have reason to sell!
great pickups. I also collect potential hall of fame rookies. I do the psa set registry so I try to pick what PSA will pick for the post war rookie hof set. I only need three more current players. Betts-topps update. Lindor-Topps Chrome, Ramirez-either topps chrome or topps still not sure which jose ramirez card psa will pick. I just picked up vladdy's Topps Rookie in a 10, Cole's topps update in 10 and chris sale's topps psa 10
Nice pickups! All guys that have a very good chance of gaining entry into the HoF. Thanks for sharing, it seems like we have similarities in how we collect
Thanks Dave, your name says it all! It took me a while to get into more modern cards, but as more players are getting into the Hall that started after 2000, i decided i needed to learn more about the era and then it got me hooked of course. I still enjoy vintage more, but not solely.
Thanks WPD! I LOVE Chourio, he's my top pick of rookies out of the entire 2024 class right now. I'm still not buying because he's so young and his prices likely overvalued right now with any hype, but will definitely be keeping an eye on him as the years tick by.

@brutusonbaseball I see alot of george brett KC vibes going on for him.. I hope they build a team around him like happened for brett long ago.
Agreed, the vibe is starting to get good in KC!
I really like that Topps Chrome SP of Lindor.
It's a great card, isn't it? Especially that it's a SP
