You are singing my song, I hate campgrounds with no trees or just those little bitty trees, Concrete jungle In my younger days, we camped all summer (being teachers) and we could just drive in to these wonderful state parks. no reservations. Have a good day
Yes, you definitely need to come back. We have had a very dry year this year. When we have water it is a beautiful water fall. Have been there many times. Yes they have a lot of stairs and you are not the only ones that are out of shape 😂.
We loved cloudland, we stayed there labor day 2020 and used it as a base to visit Chattanooga. We stayed in site 61 which when were there it was site 58 but also on road 189 there is a hang gliding place and we got a pizza one evening and took our camping chairs and watched them it was beautiful.
This gave me a chance to see what we missed out on. I had made reservations there months in advance last year. A couple weeks before we were to arrive they informed us our reservation was canceled due to renovation. Needless to say we were ticked off but fortunately we found a similar campground in Northern Alabama.
Look at some of the pictures from their website. During and after the spring rains. The waterfall is quit lovely. With a lot more water. Went there early summer last year, falls was running good.
Our state parks are shaded by many trees with the exception of parks undergoing expansion cost of the COE campgrounds have plenty of trees as many have been open for many years..safe travels
My daughter, (Sandra) lives in Georgia so I will definitely be visiting there. We take the RV so this will be a great place to take my grands😊 "go ahead take the hammer and smash your thumb" Alex laughed so hard at your husband. He said, "that guy is pretty funny and the bike tour is a thing I might do for our in video babe but I might be walking" . Yeah, he wanted me to actually tell you that. 😊
Too funny!! Trenton’s was really good! So yeah, you’re definitely missing out if you don’t go while there. It’s right up the street! Glad you like the tours! The bike does make it easier!
I have no idea how to make cookies over a fire. My hubby, who is an Eagle Scout and scout for over 50 years says you need a Dutch oven. Put parchment paper down, add cookies and cover with lid. Sit it in the coals and put coals on top and check every 5 minutes or so. I would say check after 8-10 as I make those cookies a lot but with smooth peanut butter and yes you need the full cup. If you want it healthier go to a Whole Foods and get fresh peanut butter or cashew butter or whatever and you can use the sugar with the 1/2 stevia, but honestly not the same. Excellent to whip up a batch of these anytime. You can always put a kiss in the middle when they come out as well. For the crackers you can also use oyster crackers and then they are “snack” crackers. My mom used to make some with dill on them I think. We had our first camping trip and now I need one of those things to make grilled cheese and ham sandwiches. I have not seen that one. Hubby suggested making beef stew in the Dutch oven in the coals as well as my son. You can also make a cake or pie/cobbler in one as well. The boys are cooking next time we camp in 2 weeks I will update you as to if it is good😂
Spider 😂 Spider 😂 Spider The campground looked really nice. I would have to get a full hookup 50 amp site as well. The BBQ looked good and the sweet potatoes sound good as well. My teen daughter, same age, would have loved the trails and riding her bike through the campground. We take a few outdoor games and indoor card games. Good job on the campfire meals. Plus, an all-time favorite and must-have while camping is smores 😃
Great video I like the bike tours and picking out the good camp sites and what we like about camping is trying new recipes and laughing at ourselves at some of the disaster that we cooked. Which make for a memorable camping trip
@@matthewmanross8962 Thanks! So glad you find the tours helpful! We get a lot of compliments on them so we’ll keep doing them! And we should’ve known better with those disaster cookies ! Haha! Will try to work with some coals for baking things some more later. But yes, eating burnt crumbs for dessert was a good memory for sure lol
Oh Val, the recipes looked great, but lose the canola oil on the cracker recipe. Canola oil is highly processed and very bad for you. You could substitute avocado oil as a healthier alternative. Good call on reducing the sugar in the cookies. If you use a pan with a lid over coals, not an open flame, I think you will get more oven-like results on the cookies. That was fun. Thanks for sharing.
Hey! Yes, agree on the Avocado oil for a healthier option! Just went with the recipe the first round! Flavor was amazing! Gonna watch some how-to’s on baking over the coals and try again! Gotta a weekend trip coming up that could be good to try some more fire cooking.
We had our family reunion their from before I was born till 2021. They destroyed a great park that locals loved to build an overcrowded RV park that makes more money for the state. I have heard other locals complaining about having to relocate their family reunions as well after the remodel. As an RV guy, I can respect what they call upgrades. But as someone that has gone there for 45 years, I know it was better before.
You can blame the lack of trees at newer campgrounds on the popularity of behemoth fifth wheels and Rigs. People don’t want to damage their precious fiberglass clad palaces where they “camp” all day in their air conditioned luxury, watching a big screen.
Normally you would cook around 250 to 350F. Fire 🔥 burns over 1000F. I'm sure there is not a cook book that says preheat oven to 1000F and put your cookies in....😂😂😂 Older you get (I'm referring to myself) the more you have to be conscious about diet. "cook healthy" so I would maybe cut out so much sugar and use Cinnamon for flavor instead of sugar. Sugar will make you diabetic.... However I love ❤️ to sip on some Shine sitting by the campfire 🔥
Pop a squat? Jarrett my wife would have popped me if I suggested that. Did you see anything rigs over 40’ in there? I agree not over the fire an itch oven might have worked better. Watch cowboy Ken Rollin’s he cooks a lot in cast iron. Great video!
Oh we LOVE Cowboy Kent! Gonna try those biscuits he does soon! Yes, larger pull-through’s for big rigs over in the West Rim! But it’s a good mile or so maybe from the East Rim. Not as close to the trails and overlooks. But full hook ups over there.
Love Cloudland Canyon. Specially nice in the fall.
Take me to the country! Yes to the trees and nature. No parking lot campgrounds for us! What a beautiful place! Loved the recipe segment.❤
Great Video! Keep up the hard work!
Loved the Cooking with Val segment…nice addition to the continually awesome bike tour!!! These reviews are very helpful. Keep it up!

It's in my top 5 campground I've been to is in Syvia NC. Moonshine campground . Has a creek that flows through the the camp sites .bunch of trees !
Thank you! Much better than the "brand new" parking lot recommendation. Appreciate the channel.

We live in Alabama but LOVE LOVE camping in Georgia SPs!!! We love North Georgia! Cloudland is on my list for us to visit! Thanks for this review!
Thank you. Beautiful grounds. That's a go to place for me. ✌️😀

love watching you guys

I live close to this park. I’ve never camped here. But, I take fall pictures here every year. The colors are awesome.
We love that campground
Love you're Campfire meals. I agree the cookies should not be over dire just in coals.

Oh for sure on the s’mores! Have you tried dipping your toasted marshmallow in Baileys? It’s delicious! Adults only of course 😜
Fresh grated cheese and a block of soft cream cheese would make a great tasting pimento cheese.

Pimento is red pepper, so, technically, it does have Pimentos in it.
Yeah little tiny bit of a variation but both work! We usually use the jarred pimentos. But the sautéed red worked great. Loved this recipe!
Oh thank God your cookies failed! 😂 sorry but I had the same results on the Blackstone. Lol I’m still trying to work it out. 😂
