This game is why i think they should wait until after the bowl games are done to name the heisman trophy winner. Tommie Frazier should of been the heisman winner that year.

My favorite part of this video is the interview at :34. We all hated Spurrier as Nebraska fans, but at least he understands football. He knew how overmatched they were and talked about "making a game of it". He said "We're getting clobbered." He knew they were doomed.

I know that Tommy Frazier had blood clotting problems while at NEB but as I watch this game nearly 25 years after it happened I was 12 years at the time and I am 31 now I still don't understand how no NFL team gave him even a shot to play pro ball

I remember a lot of "experts" said that Nebraska's defense was slow and couldn't keep up. Whoops....
This video does not show the end of the game either. Nebraska was at the one yard line at the end of the game and chose to take a knee rather than punch it in. Not only was Tom Osborne a winner, he was the classiest!

Miami would not have been able to beat NEB '95. Ken Dorsey vs that defense? C'mon man. Lawrence Phillps was bigger and faster than Vilma and the other Miami LBs..
Nebraska ran thru RAY LEWIS AND WARREN SAPP the year before.

    • @D.Nice..
      @D.Nice.. 7 років тому +1

Yes, Phillips was faster than Vilma and JV was the best LB that year.
Nebraska had Tommie Frazier, Phillps and Ahman Green with one of the best college OL ever. And they had several players who went to NFL on defense too.
Miami had to pull a rabbit out of the hat just to beat a weak Boston College that year. The Ed Reed play. I don't see Miami winning that one despite the NFL draft picks.

    • @taitrief

@Arson Hakobyan l would give Nebraska the edge only bc of the significant edge at HC. 01 Miami was much deeper than the team they beat in 94.
The 96 gators are much more physical. They brought in a new strength and conditioning coached (it showed if you followed them) and Bob Stoops on defense.

If you're going to cite examples of player steroid use, at least spell their names correctly. And you're wrong, Nebraska at that time was known to have, if not THE best, but one of the best strength conditioning programs in the country. Those guys were just physically tougher and bigger than their opponents and it showed. Stop drinking that haterade.

Everyone can support there team and say they are the best but there is no team in the history of football that comes close to what Neb. has done in its history... florida doesnt come close. come to think of it they are on the opposite side of the map from Nebraskas track record. Dont Needtoknow, first, I am a Husker fan. You typed " Yeah men on roids. " You have no proof. I myself can not see Coach Osborne ever agreeing to using steroids. If you knew history of Nebraska many colleges are envious of the strength training at Nebraska. Florida State made a habit of visiting Nebraska to see the facility. Stamina was stressed at Nebraska. You go ahead and be upset that Florida could not hang with Nebraska. The Florida schools have way more problems with criminal activity than Nebraska ever had. Nobody would ever come to Nebraska knowing the weather conditions to play football unless they knew how coach Osborne taught. Illegal drugs were not his way.

Marvin Purnell. Both teams had 2 weeks off from their last season game to the actual Fiesta Bowl. It was reported after the game that Florida had taken that 2 weeks off from their strength training and conditioning. It started to show in the late 2nd quarter when they started playing flat-footed and less intensely. Not only did Nebraska execute well this game but they were in peak physical condition. Florida never had a chance.

How would you like to have your asses handed to you 62-24? Knowing you were whipped far worse than the score? Never in college football history has there been such a disparity between the two top teams in the country. This is why the 1995 University of Nebraska Cornhuskers have to be the greatest college team of all time. Total, pulverizing domination on both sides of the scrimmage line. Five Hundred Yards of Rushing versus negative rushing yardage for Florida!!! Sacked more times passing the ball than a hundred customers in a grocery store. The nearest team to compare to this Colossus is probably the 2001 Miami Hurricanes. Even the Canes didn't have the raw power of this gridiron machine. Miami undeniably had many future pros on that great roster. But, not where the games are most often won and lost. In the trenches. No team, No team, could line up and physically beat you beneath the sod like the Huskers could. Tom Osbornes final five years at Nebraska were a case study in power and depth. With a coaching staff that knew exactly how to utilize that Army of players to full effect. They were simply the deepest team the college game has ever known. Able to go deeper into their bench than any college team, before or since. If Tom Osborne isn't college footballs all time greatest coach, he certainly was to close his career. A 60-3 mark over his final five seasons. Two games better over that time than any other team in college football history!!! That is another mark that outshines Miami, Alabama or any other college dynasty. The 1995 Nebraska Cornhuskers. A 500 pound Billy Goat that ruled the field. The true GOAT team in college football history.

This game proved why the SEC is way OVERRATED! The SEC generally fails to win big games against big teams when they count. History proves this to be correct. See Florida State, Ohio State, USC, and Miami.

At present, the SEC East is probably the worst division in the Power Five. If Alabama played in any other conference they would easily lose at least two games/season. That is just a fact, not a personal opinion. A steady diet of playing Ohio State, Michigan, Iowa, Penn State, Michigan State would have Bama losing easily two of those games. If Alabama played in the Big 12 Oklahoma and Oklahoma State would have their way with Alabama and both OU and OSU would easily score 6 or more TD's against the Tide defense which historically has not stopped anyone with a decent passing attack. Once again, just fact, not personal opinion. Look at what Ole Miss and Texas A & M have done with Bama in the past. Passed them silly.
