1996 Fiesta Bowl Nebraska vs. Florida 62-24 Part 2 of 2
Вставка
- Опубліковано 5 лип 2012
- 2nd half. All but 4 minutes of final Quarter. Nebraska downs it on the 1yard line to fun out the time of the game. Nebraska takes on Florida for the National Championship. Nebraska Crushes Florida 62-24 to win back to back National Championships. Heralded by most as the greatest college football team ever.
51 years old.. been watching and studying football for about 35 of them.. best college team ever : 1995 Nebraska Cornhuskers
This game is why i think they should wait until after the bowl games are done to name the heisman trophy winner. Tommie Frazier should of been the heisman winner that year.
Agree 100%
My favorite part of this video is the interview at :34. We all hated Spurrier as Nebraska fans, but at least he understands football. He knew how overmatched they were and talked about "making a game of it". He said "We're getting clobbered." He knew they were doomed.
Nebraska's time is coming again. GBR
Never gets old!!!!!
This game was like when you play NCAA Football on the easiest difficulty with all the A.I. sliders set to their lowest settings. Can't imagine being a Florida fan watching this live. I'd lose the will to live.
That Nebraska team was stout! Damn Frazier was a stud! Grown men beating a less than competitive opposition...Ouch! Taking nothing away from FL... huskers just that damn good.
I know that Tommy Frazier had blood clotting problems while at NEB but as I watch this game nearly 25 years after it happened I was 12 years at the time and I am 31 now I still don't understand how no NFL team gave him even a shot to play pro ball
25 years later when Danny Wuerffel sees red he immediately falls to the ground.
I remember a lot of "experts" said that Nebraska's defense was slow and couldn't keep up. Whoops....
This video does not show the end of the game either. Nebraska was at the one yard line at the end of the game and chose to take a knee rather than punch it in. Not only was Tom Osborne a winner, he was the classiest!
penatonic
How sweet it is
95 Nebraska...the best college football team in history. PERIOD.
I was lucky enough to have attended that game; I'll be damned if I don't get goosebumps and teary-eyed every time I watch Tommie break that 75-yard TD run. It just doesn't get old. Ever.
Florida should seriously not be ashamed of this. They ran into a buzz saw.
Miami would not have been able to beat NEB '95. Ken Dorsey vs that defense? C'mon man. Lawrence Phillps was bigger and faster than Vilma and the other Miami LBs..
Nebraska ran thru RAY LEWIS AND WARREN SAPP the year before.
Yes, Phillips was faster than Vilma and JV was the best LB that year.
Nebraska had Tommie Frazier, Phillps and Ahman Green with one of the best college OL ever. And they had several players who went to NFL on defense too.
Miami had to pull a rabbit out of the hat just to beat a weak Boston College that year. The Ed Reed play. I don't see Miami winning that one despite the NFL draft picks.
Yeah they should be ashamed, Spurrier and most analysts thought fl was going to wear NE defense out, passing everywhere!
Arson Hakobyan -them safeties would’ve had a HECK of a time tackling either Phillips, or Green, each were train eNgiNes!
@Arson Hakobyan l would give Nebraska the edge only bc of the significant edge at HC. 01 Miami was much deeper than the team they beat in 94.
The 96 gators are much more physical. They brought in a new strength and conditioning coached (it showed if you followed them) and Bob Stoops on defense.
nebraska didn't give up a sack the entire year? damn this team was good!
Not just no sacks, but not a single holding penalty the entire season.
Tom Osborne is a legend.
13:00 RIP Brook Berringer
One of the greatest CFB teams ever
Not one of, they're the greatest team in cfb history.
How great is this team?
Well, this UF team, which basically was a very similar team with the exception of a few losses, won the National Title next year including a dominating win over FSU to claim the title.
Without a doubt the GREATEST team EVER. Kudos '95 Nebraska.
Go Gators.
That 2001 Miami team that clobbered Nebraska in the Rose Bowl wasn't to shabby.
SAD PART IS TOMMY FRAZIER DIDN'T EVEN GET A SHOT AT THE NFL
Blood clots ended his career.
Tom Osborne= The Man, the myth, and forever the legend
No team in the history of college football could have beaten the Huskers that night.
That UF team was a great team in its own right. The No. 3 team in the country that year was Tennessee, had some dude named Peyton at quarterback. Only lost one game, to the Gators by 25 points.
And the Gators lost to Nebraska by 38...
The greatest college football team EVER!
@ Rod
If you're going to cite examples of player steroid use, at least spell their names correctly. And you're wrong, Nebraska at that time was known to have, if not THE best, but one of the best strength conditioning programs in the country. Those guys were just physically tougher and bigger than their opponents and it showed. Stop drinking that haterade.
Dam LP sad as hell, how his life turned out. But what an ass whoopin here.
I never liked Steve Spurrier. I was so happy when Nebraska beat Warren Suck, and then Florida the next year.
DUDE! LET IT GO!!! You cant hate on a legendary dynasty team like nebraska. Everyone can support there team and say they are the best but there is no team in the history of football that comes close to what Neb. has done in its history... florida doesnt come close. come to think of it they are on the opposite side of the map from Nebraskas track record. Fuckin SEC BANDWAGONNERS! Or should i say SUC?
Coach Spurrier had no answers.
GOTTA LOVE THE LOOK ON SPURIERS FACE, HE'S TOTALLY HUMILIATED!
you know nebraska mimicked florida's offense. they out smarted them in all aspect of the game.
Good thing for Florida they played on grass...
this game was grown men aganst boys
Dont Needtoknow, first, I am a Husker fan. You typed " Yeah men on roids. " You have no proof. I myself can not see Coach Osborne ever agreeing to using steroids. If you knew history of Nebraska many colleges are envious of the strength training at Nebraska. Florida State made a habit of visiting Nebraska to see the facility. Stamina was stressed at Nebraska. You go ahead and be upset that Florida could not hang with Nebraska. The Florida schools have way more problems with criminal activity than Nebraska ever had. Nobody would ever come to Nebraska knowing the weather conditions to play football unless they knew how coach Osborne taught. Illegal drugs were not his way.
Marvin Purnell. Both teams had 2 weeks off from their last season game to the actual Fiesta Bowl. It was reported after the game that Florida had taken that 2 weeks off from their strength training and conditioning. It started to show in the late 2nd quarter when they started playing flat-footed and less intensely. Not only did Nebraska execute well this game but they were in peak physical condition. Florida never had a chance.
Put in repay, and it's 64-17. :)
That may be the dumbest statement on the internet.
@@beng4151 If Tom Osborne wanted to run it in at the end it could be 71-16
The key to "The Run": HE KEPT HIS FEET MOVING!
That spread QB draw for a TD was a thing of beauty.
Frazier was such a invincible player, he should of went professional.
He had blood clots
Go Big Red
Refs spotted UF 8 points.
I still love this game even though it felt like we were picking on little school girls that year. I feel bad for every team that played the skers that year.
can you believe Wyoming gave us our lowest point spread that year.
G.O.A,T
If Dominating the line of scrimmage ever needed a tutorial video
How would you like to have your asses handed to you 62-24? Knowing you were whipped far worse than the score? Never in college football history has there been such a disparity between the two top teams in the country. This is why the 1995 University of Nebraska Cornhuskers have to be the greatest college team of all time. Total, pulverizing domination on both sides of the scrimmage line. Five Hundred Yards of Rushing versus negative rushing yardage for Florida!!! Sacked more times passing the ball than a hundred customers in a grocery store. The nearest team to compare to this Colossus is probably the 2001 Miami Hurricanes. Even the Canes didn't have the raw power of this gridiron machine. Miami undeniably had many future pros on that great roster. But, not where the games are most often won and lost. In the trenches. No team, No team, could line up and physically beat you beneath the sod like the Huskers could. Tom Osbornes final five years at Nebraska were a case study in power and depth. With a coaching staff that knew exactly how to utilize that Army of players to full effect. They were simply the deepest team the college game has ever known. Able to go deeper into their bench than any college team, before or since. If Tom Osborne isn't college footballs all time greatest coach, he certainly was to close his career. A 60-3 mark over his final five seasons. Two games better over that time than any other team in college football history!!! That is another mark that outshines Miami, Alabama or any other college dynasty. The 1995 Nebraska Cornhuskers. A 500 pound Billy Goat that ruled the field. The true GOAT team in college football history.
And it is starting again!!
This is like one of those games on NCAA Football where you set the game on Freshman difficulty and set all the sliders to the lowest level.
Why thank you very much :) :) :)
Frazier was awesome. Played for Montreal in the CFL but too many injuries. Anyone know what he's doing these days?
Tjink he has a radio show in lincoln, idk if its associated with the local espn channel there, but i think it is in someway associated with the university. Theres a cool 20 minute interview where he talks with eirc crouch back around 2012 on UA-cam. Thats from his radio show.
The tackling by UF in this game still gives me nightmares.... Lord.
that must be amazing.
4:03-Wuerffel trying to block Grant Wistrom!LOL! I give him an A+ for effort, though.
..this was a young Mr Wistrom also..I remember him the year before against Miami ..and that Miami team was far superior to this Florida team imo, he was a Redshirt freshmen in that game I do believe..and he held his own against that Miami line.
Wuerffel showed tremendous heart the entire game. I never saw one bit of quit in him. The previous year, when Nebraska played Frank Costa, there was a ton of quit in him.
Frazier > Wuerffel
9:02 Prediction of the decade...
could you upload this entire game
Fraizer should have won the heisman. The Run was just a way he told the nation that he is the best. GBR
This game proved why the SEC is way OVERRATED! The SEC generally fails to win big games against big teams when they count. History proves this to be correct. See Florida State, Ohio State, USC, and Miami.
Andrew Patrick As much as I would like to agree, this was well before the SEC became dominant
At present, the SEC East is probably the worst division in the Power Five. If Alabama played in any other conference they would easily lose at least two games/season. That is just a fact, not a personal opinion. A steady diet of playing Ohio State, Michigan, Iowa, Penn State, Michigan State would have Bama losing easily two of those games. If Alabama played in the Big 12 Oklahoma and Oklahoma State would have their way with Alabama and both OU and OSU would easily score 6 or more TD's against the Tide defense which historically has not stopped anyone with a decent passing attack. Once again, just fact, not personal opinion. Look at what Ole Miss and Texas A & M have done with Bama in the past. Passed them silly.
7:15 The run!
Gators were totally outclassed that night…Sad
Funny thing is it should have been worse. The Florida TD to Ike wasn't in bounds and the fumbled 2-point conversion was called back when it shouldn't have been. Damn...64-17 sounds better against Florida ;)
And Nebraska took a knee at the one-yard line to end the game. Could have punched it in to make it 71-17.
What is a stetiods?
@6:30 No touchdown! too bad there was no review back then
Nice!!!!!!!
Final should have been 66-16
Not like it mattered but how that wasn't a fumble during the 2 pt attempt is weird. Sympathy? Lol
This is like the show Swamp People, in an odd, metaphorical kind of way.
Think about it...
But yet they give tebow a chance. And look what he did, lead his broncos to 7 4th qtr comebacks. Playoff win against #1 defense steelers. Who knows what Frazier would've accomplished.
Hey a little more fun while looking back at this... google best college football team ever... best college football run ever... best college football touchdown ever... ncaa most consecutive sellout record.... best college football coach ever... best college national championship game ever... best college football game ever... best college football national champion team ever... well you get the hint... i can tell you the screen turns pretty red with no florida or georgia or lsu in the forcast
Sounds like somebody still has there poopy diaper on.
This commentator keeps making excuses
for the gators
7:00
We crushed them and had two bad calls in that video against us
so tell me how bama's run is better??? ...thought so GBR!!
I Like seeing the gators get that ass kicked. GO FSU !!!!!!!
52-20
Go Noles!
Louisville beat your championship defense.
I wonder if Nebraska could have won this game without help from LSU!! NOPE!!!!! They wouldn't have known how to stop how passing game
you are dumb as hell
jump into traffic
Since your A genius, would you say Bama is A steroid team also since there so dominant???
Bama has never been this dominant
Sry guys to call him that he hit on my cousin and made her uncomfortable so yea I don't like him anymore
Because a guy made your cousin uncomfortable when he hit on her, you don't like him ? You liked him before ? So you will go through life not liking everybody because they make family members uncomfortable. Wow, your life is going to suck.
