Now that we have taller tires, it could use a re-gear, but above all, it needs a carb tune (or just a switch back to the 4 carb setup). And mufflers (we're working on em). Anyone know where we can get the stock carbs rebuilt professionally?
If you were close to pa I could’ve hooked you up for practically nothing. My buddy Chris is a motorcycle carb guru. He’s had to tune and sync carbs on a ton of different bikes old and newer. He has a 1100 v-star right now he’s been tweaking with, and the thing rips.

Guys after watching this run I would suggest off setting the upper front a arm about 6 degrees toward the rear, there are several videos out here that discuss this. I used this set up and it handles so good.Nice job on your build I always enjoy your videos, Stay safe
My all time favorite build!! Finally overtook the Black Widow!! It definitely needs is taller tires all around. My opinion it looks like a body builder whos never made leg day, like EVER. It also could use the body panels you guys talked about, to make it look cleaner and more show ready. After that, its just tiny little finishing touches. Overall though, awesome build guys!!

Congrats boys on the awesome build! My “ to do list” would be Quick Rack steering. Quad shocks. Proper carb setup. Exhaust system. But this project is defo coming on really well! 👍🏻👏
A little trick I’ve used on smaller tires that are hard to get to seat. Take a ratchet strap and wrap it around the center of the tire and hook the hooks to each other. Then cinch the strap down so it squishes the center part of the tire. It will help force the beads to seat. Doesn’t work on all small tires/rims but it’s saved my butt on those occasional pain in the ass lawn tractor tires.
That thing looks menacing man! The white is perfect for it. Its just has a mean look to it and it sounds great. I can see where it could get scary. Good job you guys.
So tip of the day #1: When mounting tires that have sidewalls that won't touch the rim, try a tow strap in the middle. It tends to make the sidewalls bow out and you don't have to "lose an eyebrow" mounting tires. Back in the day we mounted 10" wide tires on 8" wide rims with a tire band. It compressed the whole tire and kept it from stretching when airing it up.
she's a great basher, goes like hell, sounds awesome, and she's solid. i'd agree with ike, 7/10 for first attempt. if you build another later on, it's going to really hit the nail on the head. good work fellas
Its come along really nice and I'm rather happy with what its come out as. Very nice work thus far, as an engineer in training, I think you two did a splendid job on it. Looks really exciting to drive as well. But on another note, what about finishing the exhaust system? It'd run easier and make more power if you merge them into a common pipe, maybe a quarter inch bigger than each pipe on its own. Keep in mind that the merged pipe barely needs to be larger than each runner, and it'll need exhaust clamps to hold the merger to the runners so it can be taken off, preferable in 3 sections (that being the left runners, right runners and center merger to the muffler). Oh, and it'll be quieter so your neighbors will notice it less if you start it up in the shop. And at the end of the day, the runners themselves (the pipes currently on there) need to be equal length, so their length from the exhaust port to the end of the pipe needs to be the same as its siblings, after that it needs to be mirrored between each side, a merger from, what, 1.5 inch to 1.5 or 1.75 inch, then those pipes join directly under or just behind the fuel tank into a 1.75 or 2 inch merger which goes to a 1.75 or 2 inch diameter glasspack muffler. You can get one from Thrush in 1.75 inch and 2 inch models at their smallest. And I'd suggest ending the exhaust runners sooner so they can merge. Modularity of the exhaust seems to be the right way to go here. But alas, despite the exhaust being a pet peeve of mine, my rating for this project is a straight 9 out of 10 since I love it anyways and think you two are awesome for making it. Love the custom front suspension tho, using those joints ended up being a good idea :)

For off road racing skinny front tires with decent tire pressure and tall wide rear tires with low air pressure. When you let the air out the side wall tread bites in and gives you more grip. Simple tips but they usually help. Plus running less pressure in the tires will make it feel like you have a bit more suspension.
There are great 20 and 22" options for 8" rims that we use on our off road golf carts. The issue may be that GoPowerSports does not have them. Grip it and rip it fellas!!
How wide are they though? We need something relatively skinny. As you saw in the video we had to space the wheels out slightly with these 9.5" wide tires.
@@CarsandCameras the best fit out the for an 8" rim will be a 22x10x8. There are 20x7x8 also. The best option is to go to a 10" or 12" rim. You will be able to get almost any size tire. I run a 22x8x10 on the front of my golf cart and 22x11x10 on the back. I also changed the backspacing on the rims for more clearance. It's less than 30bucks each for the rims.
I really like the Storm Trooper guys, Great Job. John, off road racing is like any other type of racing, it simply requires lots of practice, stamina and focus. As for the cart, I would switch all 4 shocks and springs to something more suitable to off road use.
That build is gnarly.. Outside of the tweaks with steering and breaks.. I would consider putting a turbo on it.. That would really complete the motor aspect of it..
It's a great first try. Like Grind Hard Plumbing, I see some suspension modifications coming soon. You have a street suspension set up on that buggy. It's too spongy and too close to the ground. You're doing a lot of bouncing down the drag strip. The trick is to keep the rear tires in contact with the earth and keep the front end from shoveling you into the ground. Even Carroll Shelby had to adjust the steering and suspension on his Cobra's. They were very powerful, but squirrely as hell. Keep on progressing. You guys are going to have a neat vehicle when you get it worked out.
Reminds me of what I said playing dirt 4 with the Logitech steering wheel. The feed back is crazy from that wheel. And reminds me a little of when I did have a truck I didn't care about and would go beat some fields with friends.
I am impressed guys. Cool machine. I think either motorcycle style fenders over each wheel or sheetmetal sides on the frame with Dzus type fasteners would keep the dirt off of you and the drivetrain. I think you guys may have made one of the coolest buggies I have ever seen!

Great job guys. Tires are a huge improvement im sure. Suspension is a major factor in anything offroad related. Check into the Lucas Oil Offroad series buggy class or short course buggies. That may give you guys some ideas on your geometry

Possible idea, build another so you guys can race each other. Use a more modern engine so you can put a rekluse clutch on it that way you can shift it up and down without having to worry about using the clutch, more travel up front and call it a day. A more modern engine could probably be found for $500 from a wrecked street bike or something similar. Just some ideas, love how it turned out! Glad to see that old cb750 engine running quite well considering how the carbs are. There is a company that makes a 2-1 intake and carb setup for that (it’s a bit expensive) but maybe it would help on the low end? Props for how much time and effort went into this project. 👍🏼

Look into a atv front hub set breaks,rim& tire combo, would have a much better tire selection for the understeer it has, and should probably do a elka style piggyback shock for the front end, but she looks very smooth out there, and fun to rip. Once you fix the front tire's it won't feel so out of control at speed
Finally you call it an UTV and Glad you are going to work on the flaws, Also i am going to say it you guys need to man up (Ike less as already has bit of crazy ) or find someone who will give your kart a real go. You built something for a purpose and haven't even tested it properly to see if there are real flaws (like bottoming out / tipping in high speed skids, jumps etc) Its why they call it the first real run a suicide run you thrash it and if comes back fine then you know you did good and can fix little issues, or next thing you know you'll crash and find out it wasn't safe. Just remember i don't do this out of hate cause i enjoy what you do, but like a big bro ill give you credit when due and shit the rest of the time. Keep it up
That kart needs an exhaust with a spark arrestor. I saw a Kart catch fire because of a backfire. A twin exhaust setup, in my opinion, would be awesome. Nice build.
Definately agree with the spark arrestor idea. Wouldnt even be allowed to run it at the dunes here in michigan without an arrestor on each bank of pipes..
I give you 10 out of 10 for a first attempt. Yes, your not exactly noobs, but most first attempts fail. You didn't fail, you only need improvements that can be done to the existing if you wanted. Front shock upgrades could fix that. The steering, well swap it, add a bigger slave cylinder to the brakes, and work on the paddles and guess what? Your first attempt is 100% a success. Most experienced mess up the first of everything, but instead of fixing it, they stop and start again, so they say their first attempt is this when no, their first, second, third and forth were used for scraps until they found what they decided to build on. Great job guys! Glad I watched you through it.

The front suspension looks a little collapsed, probably a reason for it. It just seems like a couple of inches taller would give a little more clearance. Oh!!!! Put Air Suspension on it!!!!! It would be even more epic!!! In all seriousness, great work lads. She's a beauty!!
Washers will do in a pinch but you really want to make a spacer out of thin metal and get that contact area to spread the forces. Washers may bend....... ........the lugs. ;) Made some out of a good aluminium blend for a Nissan with a weird rim/tire setup, worked great for years and rode it like crazy.
I would really suggest running a tire like the Kenda Front Max on the front instead of the same as the ones on the back. It’ll really help with steering and handling especially if you run a slightly skinnier tire
Try the original 4 carb set up. After getting the problem fixed those 4 individual carbs will really be great if working right. Throttle response for days!!
That thumbnail is the perfect desktop wallpaper. But on a side note, i have a curiosity question. I'm learning the basics of wiring by wiring a set of head and taillights on a bicycle to a switch using a 12V battery, but what if I wanted to have multiple devices hooked up to different switches? Do I run the lead from the battery to the leads of the switches that head out to the lead of the devices? Then the grounds meet up to the battery ground in some way?

Ive found a bunch of aggressive tires with 8 inch rims on some Chinese atv parts sites I use to fix Chinese quads and dirt bikes. I have a mini set of bear claw mud tires on my son's 110cc Chinese quad. You guys should look into a performance Chinese motor build cheap parts and you can get performance parts like a flat slide performance carb with nitrous hook up, high performance cdi, coils and everything else.
no they just havent tuned the engine right, that thing should be tearing it up. They need to get some flatslide mechanical carbs and tune them for pods
Cb750's dont rev to 12k redline is like 10,500. And itnprobably.wont rev that far because 2 of the cylinders are lean AF beacsue fuel/air isnt making the 90°turn in their intake manifold
They are short shifting it because it stops pulling and starts breaking up with rpms. Its doing that because 2 cylinders are straved for fuel..... you can hear it breaking up and missing in every video
Added benefit of huge rear tires, you will be going downhill all the time so fuel mileage and speed should increase proportionally. BTW, I think this is the most awesome build yet!

You don’t notice bogging when you have low gears and wheel spin. The intake manifold needs equal length runners.

MAN! I love that! What a great Build! You will get used to it the more you drive it and get use to the faults..brakes and steering,and adapt to it...

May help to lengthen the intake up and forward so the air filters are up behind your head. That short ride looks like it covered the filters in mud.

Glad to see that old cb750 engine running quite well considering how the carbs are. There is a company that makes a 2-1 intake and carb setup for that (it’s a bit expensive) but maybe it would help on the low end? Props for how much time and effort went into this project. 👍🏼

I do the light it up technic on my truck tires ever time I change them . Works awesome but be careful and have an extinguisher handy
FINALLY!!! would love to see some better shocks on the front maybe some second hand air shocks off a harley or something more adjustable.
Look into a atv front hub set breaks,rim& tire combo, would have a much better tire selection for the understeer it has, and should probably do a elka style piggyback shock for the front end, but she looks very smooth out there, and fun to rip. Once you fix the front tire's it won't feel so out of control at speed

I love that kart. So awesome. Should build another one that is taller for some serious trails.
Finally you call it an UTV and Glad you are going to work on the flaws, Also i am going to say it you guys need to man up (Ike less as already has bit of crazy ) or find someone who will give your kart a real go.
You built something for a purpose and haven't even tested it properly to see if there are real flaws (like bottoming out / tipping in high speed skids, jumps etc)
Its why they call it the first real run a suicide run you thrash it and if comes back fine then you know you did good and can fix little issues, or next thing you know you'll crash and find out it wasn't safe.
Just remember i don't do this out of hate cause i enjoy what you do, but like a big bro ill give you credit when due and shit the rest of the time.

That kart needs an exhaust with a spark arrestor. I saw a Kart catch fire because of a backfire. A twin exhaust setup, in my opinion, would be awesome.

Definately agree with the spark arrestor idea. Wouldnt even be allowed to run it at the dunes here in michigan without an arrestor on each bank of pipes..
I give you 10 out of 10 for a first attempt. Yes, your not exactly noobs, but most first attempts fail. You didn't fail, you only need improvements that can be done to the existing if you wanted. Front shock upgrades could fix that. The steering, well swap it, add a bigger slave cylinder to the brakes, and work on the paddles and guess what? Your first attempt is 100% a success. Most experienced mess up the first of everything, but instead of fixing it, they stop and start again, so they say their first attempt is this when no, their first, second, third and forth were used for scraps until they found what they decided to build on. Great job guys! Glad I watched you through it.

Zip tied like a pro, have fun with it guys. I do think it is not running the best but I know y'all will figure it out and hit it again. Maybe check exhaust with ir temp gauge?

The front suspension looks a little collapsed, probably a reason for it. It just seems like a couple of inches taller would give a little more clearance. Oh!!!!

You need a quick ratio steering rack and I wonder if longer (and maybe a bit stiffer) front coilovers wouldn't be something to look into.
Washers will do in a pinch but you really want to make a spacer out of thin metal and get that contact area to spread the forces. Washers may bend.......

Made some out of a good aluminium blend for a Nissan with a weird rim/tire setup, worked great for years and rode it like crazy.
You guys should try the stock4 carb set up now that you have the ignition system dialed in.
I think if you still did the body panels, but did some of them in gloss black it would looks sick and add to the storm trooper look imo.
I would really suggest running a tire like the Kenda Front Max on the front instead of the same as the ones on the back. It’ll really help with steering and handling especially if you run a slightly skinnier tire
Try the original 4 carb set up. After getting the problem fixed those 4 individual carbs will really be great if working right. Throttle response for days!!

But on a side note, i have a curiosity question. I'm learning the basics of wiring by wiring a set of head and taillights on a bicycle to a switch using a 12V battery, but what if I wanted to have multiple devices hooked up to different switches? Do I run the lead from the battery to the leads of the switches that head out to the lead of the devices? Then the grounds meet up to the battery ground in some way?

Ive found a bunch of aggressive tires with 8 inch rims on some Chinese atv parts sites I use to fix Chinese quads and dirt bikes. I have a mini set of bear claw mud tires on my son's 110cc Chinese quad. You guys should look into a performance Chinese motor build cheap parts and you can get performance parts like a flat slide performance carb with nitrous hook up, high performance cdi, coils and everything else.

Because its not. The way the intake manifold is setup its starving 2 cylinders of fuel. You cant have a sharp 90 like they do.
Short shifting. That is a bike engine it is meant to be wound out not shifted at 3 or 4k. Red line is around 12k. Wind that puppy up!
Cb750's dont rev to 12k redline is like 10,500. And itnprobably.wont rev that far because 2 of the cylinders are lean AF beacsue fuel/air isnt making the 90°turn in their intake manifold
Doesnt change anything, he is still short shifting it. Wind it up into the power band. If a CB750 redlibes at 10500, shoulda bought a Yamaha...
They are short shifting it because it stops pulling and starts breaking up with rpms. Its doing that because 2 cylinders are straved for fuel..... you can hear it breaking up and missing in every video

Added benefit of huge rear tires, you will be going downhill all the time so fuel mileage and speed should increase proportionally. BTW, I think this is the most awesome build yet!
