You doing this trial has made my mind up I’ll most definitely only being feeding Saki to my older koi And this year decided to get 7 grow on koi in a heated pond One question Dave I have followed you on this from the start but can’t remember how you did the returns to the pond Basically is there a current/flow to make them move more if you get what I’m asking But I do think you have some really nice pieces there mate like the red Kujaku and the third Showa you pulled out that’s really nice Look forward to more content
If budget is no problem then Saki appears to be the answer. No worries dude the return is just one pipe from the pump which goes through the Ozone UV and then the venturi before splitting into to buy a t piece and returning. All above water level. I am going to have a little play around in the off season to see what I can do differently. Done nothing aesthetic yet all just an effort to get up running and moving lots I want to "finish"
@@OrchardKoi yeah I actually watched the video you did on it Only reason I’m asking is that I watched Ricky from koi wholesale talking about his grow on ponds and says that good food heat good filteration and a current/flow being in one direction type of thing brings them on fantastic so thinking of above water return making the flow or returning under the water say midway for flow as at the minute it just returns like a shower
@@bladelowe yeah exactly the ethos Im going for just haven't got to that part yet. I'm really relying on the air pump to give me good flow although there is a middle ground with that. With running the venturi I have to be careful of back pressure. 👍😊

@@OrchardKoi As I show in my video, it is easy for us Japanese to imagine from experience that if you continue with the process, they will almost double in size when they are harvested in autumn, so we tend to be nosy and say that it is a waste to interrupt them at this time of year and bother to show them off!
@@atsuminaoki9910 yeah which I get and agree with, but I need to be able to show the fish for UA-cam, but as I say in it was hesitant to interfere too much as not wanting to disturb them 😊👍

From what you have shown with the pro bites, I would be very hesitant to use it myself. Body is everything in development and it would be interesting to see how long it takes for the body to right itself, if it does? As you say, no selection in size would also be a big issue, as most of us use it to grow tosai ,so if they can't eat it,kind of pointless. Again, from the results you have shown, I personally don't think the colour has the same impact as Saki and the way the koi fed in the clip, shows they aren't as pushed for sure. Will stick with the Saki, as I have definitely seen how it brings on the body with all my grow ons,plus, adds size in a more uniform way. As always, great review and insights.very interesting and entertaining
Cheers dude. Yeah think you are right, if you spending money on high quality fish to grow you want the best you can get. And the pellet size offering baffles me, having said that Saki in small pellets is so hard to get, 15kg only now it seems. Not sure I want the much small pellets as medium works from 18cm ISH .the older fish have done well and shown now signs of poor shape, so this is the only place I would consider it again .and agree with you totally on the colour. Back to drawing board for the next food
@@OrchardKoi I've used the medium pellets from 12cm up with good results and haven't had any issues with them not being able to take them. Ii never bothered with the small and the medium comes in 5kg of that helps any. I'll check if anywhere does the small 5kg and if I find it? I will let you know. But I don't think there is another food that offers and gives the results like saki.

I think that is the point atsumi they don't go crazy for it , which makes it alot harder to get the freezing frenzy everythime. 😊👍
