My guess is that his other identity was able to attack Es because only his primary identity is considered a prisoner. As such, his primary identity is likely the one that needs to be considered when determining votes.

My guess so far is that Mikoto had some long-term traumatic experience that culminated in him killing someone (either out of self-defense or some other reason), so he developed his alter as a result of that. His alter always talks about “saving him” and they appear when Mikoto is in distress, so my guess as of now is that Mikoto’s alternate identity sees themself as a savior who must protect Mikoto from ever having to go through such an experience again. (I’m not that knowledgeable of DID, so I don’t know if the terminology or descriptions I gave are accurate. I apologize if they are not.)

Yeah I think (hope?) it's a situation kinda similar to Shallan from the Stormlight archive. Mikoto did something that led to someone's death (maybe he killed them on purpose but given milgram's criteria i think there's every chance it was self-defense and/or manslaughter), he's repressing the memories, and the alter maybe was already there but wasn't involved or maybe didn't develop until after. It's a great indicator that he dissociates and is repressing what happened but i think the alter being "violent" is a very well-done red herring
Mikoto is my favorite of Milgram. I know he gets a horrible rep for the idea that it's a trope of murderous alter, or that he's just faking it, but tbh I think that's a big disservice to his character. An alter hit Es, a short-tempered one, yes, but not a murderous one. And likely just a very protective one, considering DID forms as a protective mechanism. All the alter is doing is protecting itself and the system. Mikoto likely has several issues, stemming from being overworked and whatever childhood accidents (usually repeated physical, verbal, or sexual abuse) led to the DID. This led to at least one murder (and tbh it probably stayed one?), which the protective alter cleaned up and hid the evidence. So, an accomplice, but clearly not the judged prisoner. I think he's interesting, and I'm disappointed that so many instantly go "oh he's just a dude with a murderous alter" when that's really not the case. All the alter wants to do is protect Mikoto, keep them safe from stress, which means fronting when the murder comes up and trying to stop Es from pushing Mikoto too far. There is the theory that Milgram just... didn't account for a system and that maybe the alter DID murder, but tbh I don't think that's the case? Seems clear enough that Mikoto is being targeted, just the punishments don't always work because the alter fronts and the alter is immune. Mikoto is the prisoner, he's the murderer. The alter's just doing all he can do to keep them safe and functional, and they have very little reason to treat Es kindly when Es keeps stressing out Mikoto and nearly making the man cry. I truly hope the next mv for him will get people to realize that's this isn't a jekyll and hyde thing, and not instantly give up or dislike Mikoto simply because of the DID. I know it's been a very demonized thing, and it is understandable, but we should be able to consume media that depicts DID on a person who has OTHER problems. DID isn't being shown as a terrible thing, here, imo. It's being shown as the defense mechanism it is. Defense comes in many forms.

@@kyle996 I wouldn't really call him sadistic. As far as the alter knows and sees, Es is... just kinda looking down on Mikoto and has kidnapped/trapped him in this place. And Mikoto is helpless. It's a matter of viewpoint, as we don't know for sure, but I saw it more as just... what any friend would do to protect another friend. The alter has no reason to care about Es, or protect them or help them. It wasn't out of sadistic glee (though maybe they did feel joy out of realizing they could harm what they likely saw as a threat to Mikoto). Just because they displayed these traits toward Es doesn't mean they generally feel those towards everyone. Es, child or not, is in control and that control is hurting Mikoto. I don't particularly blame the alter for feeling happy to learn they could do something about the situation. And I'm no expert on DID rep, and yeah in a world were we don't have a ton of decent rep, this might not be the best foot forward. But generally my thought is that just having a character with DID, whose alters have flaws, isn't bad rep. Just risky if people don't look closer.
I saw some people say that they hate the DID evil alter stereotype(which is completely fair) but mainly because it makes his story less complicated like the others, but I see his alter as a protector. What if his alter killed those people as a way to protect Mikoto? Like they wronged him in some way so he takes action against them? Heck, what if the alter uses anger as a way to seem “scarier” so it’s easier to protect Mikoto? I mean…it’s still decently simple but it’s at least different than just him killing for no reason other than to be evil. He does seem to be Mikoto’s protector for whenever he gets anxious.
yessss. the way i see it is that his alter is just trying to protect mikoto and he doesn’t care what he has to do as long as mikoto is safe. and i feel like him being the “angry evil killer” is just watering down the fact that he’s just as stressed and anxious as mikoto is but is protecting mikoto which puts MORE stress on him and his anger is his only way of releasing this stress while also trying to push people away

John (the alter) definitely seems to be faking being evil and violent to paint himself as a bad guy and Mikoto the poor victim who has to deal with the consequences. And even more interestingly enough Double and Neoplasm heavily imply John wasn’t even the killer and taking the blame for Mikoto’s actions.

No, the person who committed the crime is the one unable to harm Es - because of Mikoto's song people initially speculated it was the alter that did it, but given the rules Milgram has in place, it's not possible for that to be true. I hate to point it out but there actually seems to be a slight mistranslation,,, For “Remember your murder” - in Japanese, Es says 「覚えてろよ...人殺しが‼︎」which actually translates to “I’ll remember that.. you murderer!!” Not something that significant, but Es wasn’t actually asking Mikoto to remember his crime - he was basically pissed at him and letting him know, hence Mikoto’s reaction… ahem. It's てろ/ていろ as an imperative though, not てる/ている, so the video's translation is right. Like it's more literally "REMEMBER, you goddamn murderer," sure, but their translation is a smooth English rendition of that.

Let me tell you the power of bonds between alters... 😅 Memories CAN be shared especially if you've all had prolonged stress for a certain period of time, and, to be real, you probably have lots of triggers like sounds, textures and smells in a dingy apartment. All that it comes down to, is how strong the effect of dissociation is for them to continually block this person's memory out. In other words, it's how much Mikoto believes the presence of someone else within him who's capable of doing such actions. The key to this disorder is how you see oneself. That also makes me question how well Milgram's defense reacts to a prisoner's sense of self. If Mikoto isn't Mikoto in his own terms, the shield won't work for Es because that ego isn't Mikoto. Is it like a shield of ego against ego? So the ego needs to be a whole. But since Mikoto's ego is shattered, other pieces can break the barrier. As to how this could be. Perhaps he's had it for so long, that it's to the point where "Mikoto" is just a concept that these alters have to live their lives as. There are instances where the host or core no longer identifies with the original name, or at least tries to pick up what was left behind after dissociating for so long. Sums the lyrics 'I'm nowhere to be found', 'I'm already the fake one', which could indicate how severe it is. Now about the role of the alters. This weak ass Mikoto in the front, he's a normal part (ANP). His job is to execute normal daily life tasks, and may legitimately know nothing when the event happened, but covers up for the others. Clearly he's NOT oblivious of the other guy's presence, but this alter may not be involved. He knows that the other guy did it. In the Under Cover PV you can see Mikoto's alter stroking his own face, which signifies another alter being a semi-caretaker to avoid the fronter from going insane. And then the violent guy is probably the emotional part (EP) who may also be taking a guardian role, a direct result of an unhealthy work/life environment that can't be expressed by ANP. Hence the line 'I'll save myself'.
This voice drama really hurts after Neoplasm. Having Mikoto’s alter be named John, after “John Doe”, the title of this VD. And knowing that the aggressive and violent way he easy acting when he fronted was a facade to protect Mikoto…
i don't think that mikoto's alter being able to hit es means that mikoto is the one who murdered someone... between this, and also what jackalope said in the second trial notice, it seems like milgram is inexperienced with systems, and just defaulted to restraining mikoto since he's the host/"primary identity". this is also probably why his alter was able to fight back against kotoko, despite the guilty verdict restraining prisoners more. it's also interesting because mikoto says that maybe milgram mistook him for someone else. ironically, they probably mistook him for... himself.

8 months later, but what I think it means is that Mikoto's ALTER, A.K.A John is not a prisoner. If John is not a prisoner, yes, if Mikoto's true self was John, he'd be innocent. However the one being held in captivity and as a prisoner is MIKOTO. Thus, Mikoto had to have commited some type of murder AS HIMSELF to get here. Also, it's forgiven or not forgiven, not guilty or innocent. I mix them up a lot too, but all of them are guilty, we're just forgiving or not. :D

I gotta agree with this. DID is formed in childhood, meaning that Mikoto had to have been a system for years before splitting and forming John. So before that there had to be at least two alters
hiiiii. i appear to be a bit late to the milgram fandom. no big theories or anything. i just wanted to say i really liked this interro! Kotoko coming in out of nowhere shocked me. this one's nothing like the other interrogations. and i really am interested in the idea of Mikoto's alter being able to attack Es as the alter is technically not a registered prisoner. I wonder if it was just an act of carelessness on Milgram's part?
Now that I think about it... there are two reasons why milgram went with calling Mikoto's audio file "John Doe". The first reason would be because we have very little idea of what Mikoto's alter was like at the time. We knew that he was causing a ruckus in his cell at nighttime, he attacked Es here, and is just angry/irritated. However, theres more to that now considering Mikoto's alter is more like a fight response if Mikoto is in an extremely tense situation (See Trial 2 Commencement Video.) The second reason could revolve around his victim. While Mikoto most likely knew he might have done something bad, he can't really tell you the specifics of what it was that he did. In Undercover, he bashed someone upside the head with a bat, but in MeMe, Mikoto not only thinks that was what happened, but he spilt his victims brains, chopped up and disposed of the body... which could most likely be exaggerated. Going back on topic, Mikoto can't even tell you what his victim looks like, which could be the second reason this audio file is called "John Doe".
Im aware this trial has long since been done. But let me put my input on this as a system host. Yeah, the whole "murderous alter" is cliche, overused, and quite frankly kinda ablist in the way many use it. However, honestly? I've always found it interesting. The alter we encounter here is clearly very short tempered, and I can definitely see them taking on a protector role (I see this because we have a protector alter that lashes out in a similar way to Mikoto's alter). Their job is to protect the system, and some people see violence as a way to protect themself. This alter losing their temper is no different from a singlet doing the same thing. The way I interpret this, just from the voice drama and having not seeing the MV as of yet; Mikoto is either unaware that he is a system yet, or has decided to keep that information to himself. An alter may have committed the crime, possibly out of some sort of self-defense or a simple lashing out that went too far, but since Mikoto is the name the body was given, that is the name tied to the conviction. Mikoto was unaware of the conviction to begin with, since he wouldn't have been the one fronting. The implication I'm getting is that Mikoto and his system have extremely high amnesia barriers; It would make sense for Mikoto himself not to remember. The amount of stress he was under in the interrogation (keeping in mind; anything can trigger a switch) is definitely grounds to trigger a switch, and a rapid switch like what I think is depicted wouldn't be unusual if the system thinks they are in immediate danger. I can't recall if he was voted guilty or innocent in this trial, but voting a case like this is difficult. Assuming an alter committed the crime and not Mikoto; well, you can't punish one alter without punishing the entire system. Its a difficult judgement to pass regardless of how the trials play out now and in the future.

As a questioning system, I honestly think his representation is nowhere near as bad as people are claiming - yes, the alter has committed murder, but he's not evil in the way other stereotypes are. He seems to be there to protect the system, which is something most stereotypes wouldn't even think of, and considering this is a series about murderers.. this is probably the best way to add a system character, honestly? Because he's not a bad person in the way others are?

it's pretty interesting how milgram actually considers his alters to be two separate people and only one of them ended up being a prisoner while the other one didn't and was able to attack es, in that way mikoto is actually right in the way that milgram chose the wrong person as prisoner (mikoto instead of his alter)

According to popular theories, the alter Kotoko attacked during this interrogation and then post first trial are not the same. Mikoto is the host and there are two other alters. Of course, it's not confirmed exactly how many alters exist yet.

Im confused that Es' invisible wall was not activated when Mikoto attacked them. Unlike Futa who couldnt even lay a punch on them and Kazui's grip slowly derogated while arm-locking them. It was even mentioned by Jackalope that criminals will never hurt them, but Mikoto (alter) did. 13:25 even Kotoko was confused as well. (Also not to mention how Kotoko knows that Es has an invisible barrier even though she still wasnt interrogated yet nor anyone told her anything abt it)

Posted this as a reply but ill say it again, Personally I view his amnesia as a trauma response, not DID. He literally cannot remember no matter how hard he trys, even if he is vaugley aware of what happened and that someone is dead because of him
i mean, the two aren't mutually exclusive, especially considering how DID is 99% of the time a trauma response (i don't want to say 100% because there really is no way to technically prove it legally and ethically lol). in someone with DID, the line between dissociative amnesia directly caused by only trauma and dissociative amnesia caused by just switching can be very unclear. there are definitely scenarios in which it's one or the other, but there are many scenarios in which they are together (eg. switching in response TO trauma/stress). dissociative amnesia without DID and dissociative amnesia with DID aren't even really two different, distinct things. they're both just dissociative amnesia. the dissociative amnesia in DID just tends to be more severe, frequent, and pervasive. so amnesia in DID could very much look like "literally not being able to remember no matter how hard you try, even if you are vaguely aware of what happened". that's actually a pretty common presentation of amnesia in DID in my personal experience and from what i've read in books/papers/journals! unless you're saying you don't think he has DID at all and that it's just dissociative amnesia. which i definitely don't understand how you would come to that conclusion given everything that's been shown, but to each their own (and i'd definitely be interested in hearing your perspective!). i like your icon btw :]

The people i know with DID are pretty bad ones. Not killers, but generally bad alters. Idk about the community though, i only have real life experience.

DissociaDID on UA-cam shares very helpful and accurate information of what DID is and how it works. They have DID themselves and i learned a lot from them. Of course there will be a few bad alters, you can only get DID when you’ve experienced repeated abuse after all.
My theory and I saw somebody else saying this too, is that every one of the prisoners represent a problem in society, mikoto probably represents the demonization of people with mental illneses, in this case DID, so he is portrayed in the stereotypical way with an evil alter. I'm probably reading too much into it though
@bunka_ hi a system here. DID is a disorder caused by severe repeated childhood trauma as a way to help the brain cope. Childhood Trauma interrupts the sense of self from properly developing and in the case of DID we have more than one consciousness in the body, and it can cause amnesia blocks (you can still be a system without full on amnesia like is osdd 1b only emotional amnesia is present) and so there is more than one person in the body, why? to help cope with trauma. As an example one alter may not be fully aware of the trauma the body went through, either emotionally detached and dissociated from it or not even be able to access the memory. While another alter more capable of dealing with it, can be a trauma holder. Aware of stuff the body went through, so the other alter won't be aware of it. To protect them and the system as a whole. And thats just one example..it is not in any way make you have bad alters. It is not inherently bad and thinking it is is harmful like really really harmful?? The only reason someone may have DID is the brain' way to cope with severe childhood trauma. sure there might be cases where someone has a "bad alter" but that alter is a person just like a bad singlet will be. And you cant dismiss an entire disorder because of bad experiences and stigma..

My guess so far is that Mikoto had some long-term traumatic experience that culminated in him killing someone (either out of self-defense or some other reason), so he developed his alter as a result of that. His alter always talks about “saving him” and they appear when Mikoto is in distress, so my guess as of now is that Mikoto’s alternate identity sees themself as a savior who must protect Mikoto from ever having to go through such an experience again.
(I’m not that knowledgeable of DID, so I don’t know if the terminology or descriptions I gave are accurate. I apologize if they are not.)

Yeah I think (hope?) it's a situation kinda similar to Shallan from the Stormlight archive. Mikoto did something that led to someone's death (maybe he killed them on purpose but given milgram's criteria i think there's every chance it was self-defense and/or manslaughter), he's repressing the memories, and the alter maybe was already there but wasn't involved or maybe didn't develop until after. It's a great indicator that he dissociates and is repressing what happened but i think the alter being "violent" is a very well-done red herring

Mikoto is my favorite of Milgram. I know he gets a horrible rep for the idea that it's a trope of murderous alter, or that he's just faking it, but tbh I think that's a big disservice to his character.
An alter hit Es, a short-tempered one, yes, but not a murderous one. And likely just a very protective one, considering DID forms as a protective mechanism. All the alter is doing is protecting itself and the system.
Mikoto likely has several issues, stemming from being overworked and whatever childhood accidents (usually repeated physical, verbal, or sexual abuse) led to the DID. This led to at least one murder (and tbh it probably stayed one?), which the protective alter cleaned up and hid the evidence. So, an accomplice, but clearly not the judged prisoner.
I think he's interesting, and I'm disappointed that so many instantly go "oh he's just a dude with a murderous alter" when that's really not the case. All the alter wants to do is protect Mikoto, keep them safe from stress, which means fronting when the murder comes up and trying to stop Es from pushing Mikoto too far.
There is the theory that Milgram just... didn't account for a system and that maybe the alter DID murder, but tbh I don't think that's the case? Seems clear enough that Mikoto is being targeted, just the punishments don't always work because the alter fronts and the alter is immune.
Mikoto is the prisoner, he's the murderer. The alter's just doing all he can do to keep them safe and functional, and they have very little reason to treat Es kindly when Es keeps stressing out Mikoto and nearly making the man cry.
I truly hope the next mv for him will get people to realize that's this isn't a jekyll and hyde thing, and not instantly give up or dislike Mikoto simply because of the DID. I know it's been a very demonized thing, and it is understandable, but we should be able to consume media that depicts DID on a person who has OTHER problems. DID isn't being shown as a terrible thing, here, imo. It's being shown as the defense mechanism it is. Defense comes in many forms.

It's a matter of viewpoint, as we don't know for sure, but I saw it more as just... what any friend would do to protect another friend. The alter has no reason to care about Es, or protect them or help them. It wasn't out of sadistic glee (though maybe they did feel joy out of realizing they could harm what they likely saw as a threat to Mikoto).
Just because they displayed these traits toward Es doesn't mean they generally feel those towards everyone. Es, child or not, is in control and that control is hurting Mikoto. I don't particularly blame the alter for feeling happy to learn they could do something about the situation.
And I'm no expert on DID rep, and yeah in a world were we don't have a ton of decent rep, this might not be the best foot forward. But generally my thought is that just having a character with DID, whose alters have flaws, isn't bad rep. Just risky if people don't look closer.
I saw some people say that they hate the DID evil alter stereotype(which is completely fair) but mainly because it makes his story less complicated like the others, but I see his alter as a protector.
What if his alter killed those people as a way to protect Mikoto? Like they wronged him in some way so he takes action against them? Heck, what if the alter uses anger as a way to seem “scarier” so it’s easier to protect Mikoto? I mean…it’s still decently simple but it’s at least different than just him killing for no reason other than to be evil. He does seem to be Mikoto’s protector for whenever he gets anxious.

Memories CAN be shared especially if you've all had prolonged stress for a certain period of time, and, to be real, you probably have lots of triggers like sounds, textures and smells in a dingy apartment. All that it comes down to, is how strong the effect of dissociation is for them to continually block this person's memory out. In other words, it's how much Mikoto believes the presence of someone else within him who's capable of doing such actions. The key to this disorder is how you see oneself.
That also makes me question how well Milgram's defense reacts to a prisoner's sense of self. If Mikoto isn't Mikoto in his own terms, the shield won't work for Es because that ego isn't Mikoto. Is it like a shield of ego against ego? So the ego needs to be a whole. But since Mikoto's ego is shattered, other pieces can break the barrier.
As to how this could be. Perhaps he's had it for so long, that it's to the point where "Mikoto" is just a concept that these alters have to live their lives as. There are instances where the host or core no longer identifies with the original name, or at least tries to pick up what was left behind after dissociating for so long. Sums the lyrics 'I'm nowhere to be found', 'I'm already the fake one', which could indicate how severe it is.
Now about the role of the alters. This weak ass Mikoto in the front, he's a normal part (ANP). His job is to execute normal daily life tasks, and may legitimately know nothing when the event happened, but covers up for the others. Clearly he's NOT oblivious of the other guy's presence, but this alter may not be involved. He knows that the other guy did it. In the Under Cover PV you can see Mikoto's alter stroking his own face, which signifies another alter being a semi-caretaker to avoid the fronter from going insane. And then the violent guy is probably the emotional part (EP) who may also be taking a guardian role, a direct result of an unhealthy work/life environment that can't be expressed by ANP. Hence the line 'I'll save myself'.

However the one being held in captivity and as a prisoner is MIKOTO. Thus, Mikoto had to have commited some type of murder AS HIMSELF to get here. Also, it's forgiven or not forgiven, not guilty or innocent. I mix them up a lot too, but all of them are guilty, we're just forgiving or not. :D

It seems to me that Milgram _did_ make a mistake. They've arrested Mikoto instead of his alter and failed to properly provide protection for Es.
Right? The mere fact that Mikoto's alter was able to attack Es is contradictory to Es's statement of "Milgram is always right." It's really not.
Now that I think about it... there are two reasons why milgram went with calling Mikoto's audio file "John Doe".
The first reason would be because we have very little idea of what Mikoto's alter was like at the time. We knew that he was causing a ruckus in his cell at nighttime, he attacked Es here, and is just angry/irritated. However, theres more to that now considering Mikoto's alter is more like a fight response if Mikoto is in an extremely tense situation (See Trial 2 Commencement Video.)
The second reason could revolve around his victim. While Mikoto most likely knew he might have done something bad, he can't really tell you the specifics of what it was that he did. In Undercover, he bashed someone upside the head with a bat, but in MeMe, Mikoto not only thinks that was what happened, but he spilt his victims brains, chopped up and disposed of the body... which could most likely be exaggerated. Going back on topic, Mikoto can't even tell you what his victim looks like, which could be the second reason this audio file is called "John Doe".
There's a reason why those two are my favorites. Also she's quite analytical. Vigilante detective for sure she is and thoroughly experience at.
Im aware this trial has long since been done. But let me put my input on this as a system host.
Yeah, the whole "murderous alter" is cliche, overused, and quite frankly kinda ablist in the way many use it.
However, honestly? I've always found it interesting.
The alter we encounter here is clearly very short tempered, and I can definitely see them taking on a protector role (I see this because we have a protector alter that lashes out in a similar way to Mikoto's alter). Their job is to protect the system, and some people see violence as a way to protect themself. This alter losing their temper is no different from a singlet doing the same thing.
The way I interpret this, just from the voice drama and having not seeing the MV as of yet; Mikoto is either unaware that he is a system yet, or has decided to keep that information to himself. An alter may have committed the crime, possibly out of some sort of self-defense or a simple lashing out that went too far, but since Mikoto is the name the body was given, that is the name tied to the conviction. Mikoto was unaware of the conviction to begin with, since he wouldn't have been the one fronting. The implication I'm getting is that Mikoto and his system have extremely high amnesia barriers; It would make sense for Mikoto himself not to remember. The amount of stress he was under in the interrogation (keeping in mind; anything can trigger a switch) is definitely grounds to trigger a switch, and a rapid switch like what I think is depicted wouldn't be unusual if the system thinks they are in immediate danger.
I can't recall if he was voted guilty or innocent in this trial, but voting a case like this is difficult. Assuming an alter committed the crime and not Mikoto; well, you can't punish one alter without punishing the entire system. Its a difficult judgement to pass regardless of how the trials play out now and in the future.

Thats all the song talked abt, she didnt explain what the murder was, because there WAS no murder, and she didnt kill. The boyfriend killed himself, hence,not her fault. But because the fanbase overthinks too much, they thought she was some psychopathic yandere and decided to vote her guilty, and now look at what happened.
I get that all theories of mikotp makes sense, but also dont forget that, "what if we were all overthinking this from the start? And that the plot was just as easy as it already shows on the screen?"
As a questioning system, I honestly think his representation is nowhere near as bad as people are claiming - yes, the alter has committed murder, but he's not evil in the way other stereotypes are. He seems to be there to protect the system, which is something most stereotypes wouldn't even think of, and considering this is a series about murderers.. this is probably the best way to add a system character, honestly? Because he's not a bad person in the way others are?

According to popular theories, the alter Kotoko attacked during this interrogation and then post first trial are not the same. Mikoto is the host and there are two other alters. Of course, it's not confirmed exactly how many alters exist yet.
Maybe she first hit she unexpectedly landed was heavy enough to not let Orekoto fight with his 100% (if that hit was to the head, maybe he have been a bit disoriented)

Like, his MV is so fucking blunt that he had nothing to do with the murder, and that oretoko was the one doing all the killing in part 2. And he was just scared. And everyone in milgram is just soo used to theories that they overthink mikoto's case. But we've wlready done that before. We tend to overthink too much on sht we shouldnt even overthink about because the answer is right infront of our faces.For instance, Mahiru. Mahiru's case was simple, she was inlove. Thats all the song talked abt, she didnt explain what the murder was, because there WAS no murder, and she didnt kill. The boyfriend killed himself, hence,not her fault. But because the fanbase overthinks too much, they thought she was some psychopathic yandere and decided to vote her guilty, and now look at what happened.
I get that all theories of mikotp makes sense, but also dont forget that, "what if we were all overthinking this from the start? And that the plot was just as easy as it already shows on the screen?"

Posted this as a reply but ill say it again, Personally I view his amnesia as a trauma response, not DID. He literally cannot remember no matter how hard he trys, even if he is vaugley aware of what happened and that someone is dead because of him
i mean, the two aren't mutually exclusive, especially considering how DID is 99% of the time a trauma response (i don't want to say 100% because there really is no way to technically prove it legally and ethically lol). in someone with DID, the line between dissociative amnesia directly caused by only trauma and dissociative amnesia caused by just switching can be very unclear. there are definitely scenarios in which it's one or the other, but there are many scenarios in which they are together (eg. switching in response TO trauma/stress).
dissociative amnesia without DID and dissociative amnesia with DID aren't even really two different, distinct things. they're both just dissociative amnesia. the dissociative amnesia in DID just tends to be more severe, frequent, and pervasive. so amnesia in DID could very much look like "literally not being able to remember no matter how hard you try, even if you are vaguely aware of what happened". that's actually a pretty common presentation of amnesia in DID in my personal experience and from what i've read in books/papers/journals!
unless you're saying you don't think he has DID at all and that it's just dissociative amnesia. which i definitely don't understand how you would come to that conclusion given everything that's been shown, but to each their own (and i'd definitely be interested in hearing your perspective!).

Why do they always have to give a character with dissociative identity disorder a killer side? That’s so harmful for the community and not realistic at all.
The people i know with DID are pretty bad ones. Not killers, but generally bad alters. Idk about the community though, i only have real life experience.
@@Iwillchangethislateranyways yeah but this is still a bad representation of DID. It’s always a good and a bad side. That’s not how DID works at all. DissociaDID on UA-cam shares very helpful and accurate information of what DID is and how it works. They have DID themselves and i learned a lot from them. Of course there will be a few bad alters, you can only get DID when you’ve experienced repeated abuse after all.
My theory and I saw somebody else saying this too, is that every one of the prisoners represent a problem in society, mikoto probably represents the demonization of people with mental illneses, in this case DID, so he is portrayed in the stereotypical way with an evil alter. I'm probably reading too much into it though
@bunka_ hi a system here. DID is a disorder caused by severe repeated childhood trauma as a way to help the brain cope. Childhood Trauma interrupts the sense of self from properly developing and in the case of DID we have more than one consciousness in the body, and it can cause amnesia blocks (you can still be a system without full on amnesia like is osdd 1b only emotional amnesia is present) and so there is more than one person in the body, why? to help cope with trauma. As an example one alter may not be fully aware of the trauma the body went through, either emotionally detached and dissociated from it or not even be able to access the memory. While another alter more capable of dealing with it, can be a trauma holder. Aware of stuff the body went through, so the other alter won't be aware of it. To protect them and the system as a whole. And thats just one example..it is not in any way make you have bad alters. It is not inherently bad and thinking it is is harmful like really really harmful?? The only reason someone may have DID is the brain' way to cope with severe childhood trauma. sure there might be cases where someone has a "bad alter" but that alter is a person just like a bad singlet will be. And you cant dismiss an entire disorder because of bad experiences and stigma..
