Awesome video, I was born in 1945 and I would sleep in a basket on the dance hall table on Saturday nights while my grandparents danced. My mother passed away after giving birth to me. My maternal grandmother had me until I was four, then my father came and took me away. I learned English in school before I was 5. My b’day is in December. Great memories of Cajun music all my life. Thanks for this post.

I want so much more of these Nathan Abshire songs and especially the film footage from the 1920s and 1930s... wow.

These are tango dancers in the video dancing at Salon Canning in Buenos Aires. I'm a tango dancer in New York and have noticed quite a lot of similarities in the music, especially the Milonga. When I'm in Louisiana I'm going to see if I can dance to it. Cool to see someone with the same idea.

"La Valse De Belezere" was written by Will Kegley in the early 50's this was Will Kegley siginature song and recorded by Nathan Abshire and the first original Pine Grove Boys. one of his Will Kegley best songs, his fiddle was and music was every thing to him how pleased he would be know that so many recording from so many artist have been made. @hussnfussel7 The video, (not on YT yet), "The Good Times Are Killing Me" can be found by typing that and "Media Burn" into your web browser, it was a 1975 video of Cajun life and music and features Nathan a lot, he's role at the Municipal Dump where he worked, to his home life with wife Ola and adopted son Ray, interviews with Nathan along with clips of his music with the Balfa Freres. Worth a look.........

The way she looks into his eyes while dancing. If she would look into my eyes like that I would melt into my shoes!

@hussnfussel7 He does sing in this case, but he has recorded with other vocalists taking lead such as Dewey Balfa, whom Nathan recorded many cuts with Dewey and his Brothers, Thomas Langley and Little Yvonne Le Blanc etc.

The text says the song is in A Major. It's in G major acc. to my instruments.

The video that acompanies the music is fantastic, where did it come from? Also, this tune was used in the great John Prine song, Paradise.

Yes the tunes are germaine. I cobbled this together several years ago from different sources, I cannot remember from where now.

Looks like they are dancing tango to a waltz tune

They are dancing an Argentinian Milonga, which is faster paced then a tango.
