Congrats on the purchase. I went through a similar ordeal with them - ordered back in September, paid in full for November delivery and didn't receive it after Christmas due to custom delays for the SSP burrs. I understand the delays from the pandemic - I get that, but I was really disappointed in the way they handled the communication. When a customer has paid for the product in full without the product in hand - you expect a high level of service which includes excellent communication as the consumer as put 100% trust in you with their money. The fact that I had to engage them first and email them to get an update really disappointed me. I hope they really do review their communication plan and improve on this. Apart from that... loving the grinder - from workflow to the grind quality (using HU burrs). Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
yeah, communication is bad, and they'll get a reputation if they're not careful. Glad you like it though, makes me feel like the wait might be worth it - how long did it take you to season the burrs can I ask?
@@bartalks1810 I bought 2kg cheap of beans and ran them through (used it for cold brew). Then 1kg of normal use after that I noticed the grinds were very consistent. I also noticed my zero point had shifted a little as the burrs got seasoned. I haven't really played with the speed, but I found 4 to be the sweet spot. Higher speeds create more fines (which means you need to adjust coarser) but I found that I get a bit more bitterness at high speeds but a little more body. Speed 4 is a good compromise where I get sweetness and clarity and still some body.
I totally agree with you philosophy of a fewer amount of higher quality products is the way to go. Investing the extra in a well made product you really want is the only way, the alternative isnyou will keep huying cheaper options, and keep replacing them end up spending more money and eventually still ending up geting the P64. The Lagom p64 was on my radar, but I chose to take a gamble and back the Kopi Deva on Kickstarter, I am so glad I did, it is an awesome looking 64mm flat burr grinder with variable rpm, high power rechargeable battery, it is quiet powerful, it is a do all grinder but like the Lagom you can spec it with SSP burrs to make is more espresso biased, but the base model comes in at a under £600. I went for the stainless steel finish with oak wooden accents.
January 8 here 😂 Mine is on the way and it has been so hard waiting for it!! But I really don’t regret having bought a grinder that has high chances to stay on my desk forever.
@@bartalks1810 Damn. We need a professional psychologist for our group, cause life, especially the mornings, don‘t make much sense without the P64 anymore ❤️🔥🤣 How long did you spend to get to the point of buying a Lagom?
Noooooope. I got an email from them saying now it's likely end of June :( I understand the situation honestly, there's not much they can do about the China ports being closed
I considered buying this, but got the X54 instead. The price difference is almost a factor of 3 that I could not justify at the moment. It's a very good grinder, but I don't believe it's 3x the cost worth.
I am with you on the Zen of making coffee in the morning. All of the tools involved in the workflow should add to the enjoyment, not be a potential "FFS" device. I am considering a Niche Zero and a Lelit Bianca, the reasoning being the flow control on the Bianca being the part that develops the different flavours in the shot rather than the grinder, and as a Hario Switch user I can have one grinder that can do both, with everyone demonstrating the absolute joy of using the simple Niche.
Be aware that you can only bend the flavors so much by using profiles. The grinder still plays a bigger part in the cup. I have used Niche + Bianca for a while and the Niche quickly became limiting, especially for lighter roasts.
Congrats on your purchase, I got a P64 earlier this year and taken a very similar step up from a Eureka, I have been very pleased. It is, in my opinion, simple and elegant in both looks and functionality. It is also quiet, which given that my morning espresso is a physical ritual almost as much as it is a taste and caffeine fix, is very welcome. The burs took some seasoning before they performed as well as I hoped but I have a friend who has recently upgraded to a larger roaster with mixed initial results and so could spare some beans which were ideal for the purpose and would not have been sold anyway.
Hi Always love listening to your Poscasts. I’m contemplating purchasing your grinder. I’m torn between the CEADO E37 naked and the Compak PK100 LAB. Can you help? It will be used in conjunction with my LM GS3. I have just sold my Helios 75 with red speed burrs and I’m possibly regretting it. If you want to you can contact me directly. Many thanks for your time.
largely, but also because I didn't want to have that itch later that I should have bought an espresso focused grinder. I think the Lagom will scratch the itch... for a while.
P64 is perfect- the only thing holding me back is the company. Eureka (NS) or Mazzer are global companies who've been around for decades, in 10 years im very likely to have a distributor handy to service it / get parts.
@@FreshTNsLad why yes it is fellow watch nerd. I changed the strap to a Hirsch rubber for comfort and to match the blue. I looked at the red version too, but this dial just did it for me :)

It’s an interesting grinder, and good to hear your thoughts on it. I don’t mean to make an irrelevant comment, or to tell you something you already know, but I think you have a cat, and I see you have a lily. Lilies are very toxic to cats.
