Great video, and totally agree with you! Bring back the Passport on Android. Two (of several) features that makes BlackBerry stand out from the crowd are a) the phone design, and b) the physical keyboard. You think it be possible to bring out a passport design with a Classic 'smile' keyboard? I hope OnwardMobility doesn't drop the ball...
@@lindab2426 BlackBerry listens to their customers just fine but they have a business to run and a board of directors and shareholders they they are responsible to and that make decisions that are in the best interest of the company. They almost went bankrupt trying to keep making phones and have spent years trying to turn the company around. If they kept trying, the company would be gone, and BB10 was not profitable and largely people didn't want it, which is why they switched to Android and then licensed out the phone manufacturing. @@TechOdyssey I understand the profitability aspect but why couldn’t Blackberry have kept the BB 10 as a special line of phones to a certain market of buyers (Government, Corporations, etc.) and then launch out the Android Blackberry phones. I had an Android Passport in my hands. Android 5.1.1. It was remarkably functional, but it's major issue was the camera drivers weren't supported and the certification for all drivers that were custom made for Passport was too costly on outdated hardware. The 1:1 screen ratio was fine and contrary to popular to belief, the 1:1 was never the issue.
Would appreciate you commentating on an image on UA-cam showing the "new version labeled "Classic 2," heralding a new planned model for this year. Thank you. Good clip.

I wish BB could have made a email app for Droid. I have used them all and the only good email devices were blackberry. Apple and Android email are horrible.
Ooof, I LOVE my Passport, it’s my favorite device ever, going back to old Sony Ericssons and HTC Wizard on Windows Mobile. I’d much prefer a BB OS10 with updated Android runtime and modern specs, but I’d happily take a new one with Android OS and updated specs, particularly a modern camera array on the back. I’d buy it tomorrow if it were available.
I still have that Passport but the screen is cracked and charging port is faulty. Back in 2016 I was hesitating between an iPhone and the Passport. After using that device for months I knew I made the right choice. I don't think I've enjoyed using a phone as much as the Passport. - BB10 OS with the Hub and Quick Actions - Touch sensitive keyboard - Everlasting battery - Productivity driven - Big square screen with high ppi - Running UA-cam in the background (back in 2016 !) - Blackberry Blend The list goes on... Years after I switched to the Keyone but the experience is really not the same i.e. a lot less intuitive. It took me a while to switch to Android but I'll buy the next BB for sure. I'm looking forward to seeing what OnwardMobility came up with.
Passport seems a bit wide for pockets, but fine for some sort of bag. I just wish the Priv held up. After I got used to the smaller keyboard, the thought of moving thumbs that far seems unnecessary, though larger hands might have a slight bit of trouble with the Priv, idk. Now I have no idea if the performance issue with the Priv was just bad execution, or if there are real problems with trying to fit the same amount of power into a slider somehow. But I prefer having something that starts small and gets larger when I'm using it over having one device that's that much bigger in the first place. It makes so much sense that I have a hard time understanding why the market thinks that literally no one wants it.
The BlackBerry Passport is my favorite phone and I would purchase one in a heartbeat. Onward, if you do decide to make a modern day BlackBerry Passport please make sure to have the same or better audio quality since this is one of the best sounding phones of all time. Yes, stereo is important and you can hear it. Please reach out to me if you want more details on this or other aspects of the BlackBerry Passport.
Couldn't agree more! It remains the best BlackBerry device till date. The tech like Paratek antennnas and Blackberry Natural Sound remain well ahead of its time and haven't been replicated by any other manufacturers.
I still have the Passport in white. Don't use it anymore but it still works and still turns heads. Never got the Priv. It was just too clunky. The keyboard looked awful. And based on the myriad of issues users experienced with it, I have dodged a bullet. I also think sticking to the Passport concept and improving it in full Android would definitely be a nice comeback strategy. Now if only they could also get more developers to tailor their apps for this form factor.
TBH i used to love this device but i had to give it up just because i was unable to run banking application and payTM. I was in love with this device but it failed me.
Blackberry Passport running an upgraded BB10 OS, BBM and supported by alternate media apps is the way to go. Android is definately an inferior OS. I charged and ran my passport a few days ago still works flawlessly - what a pleasure that was after using the Key 2 and Hauwei for the past 2 years. Do a survey. I would buy a few of them.
is this passport SE phone running OS 10 better compare to the Android version? I just think BB Passport is cute and classic and maybe I should get one extra on Amazon.
If you live in the U.S,. You already cannot use them with ATT. T-Mobile will also be shutting off 3G soon and the phones will not work. There may be some hope with a Verizon BB10 phone for maybe another year but the unknown variable because blackberry will no longer be supporting this device anymore starting January 4th. None of the back end services will work anymore and it’s presumed that they won’t work, but even if they do network availability is next to nil. So effectively they are dead.
Is there still a market for the BlackBerry Passport? If so, what would it go for? I have a Silver edition and was wondering about selling it. Although I think it has great features, I never used it much, as I decided a Priv was better for me. I'm hoping the Priv will last until the new BlackBerry is released. My SE is like new, even still has the clear screen cover in place.
To be brutally honest, I'm not sure if I want an Android-powered Passport. BlackBerry 10 is still so much better than Android, especially with that Android runtime library app support. It's a shame that the runtime library never get supported to a newer version.

I've been using my Priv for 6 years, and unironically it is still alive and well. In my opinion, the only problem with the phone is the utilization of Snapdragon 808, which is also the main reason for the other issues you mentioned. However, compared to the other phones using the same chipset, I would say Priv is not problematic as LG G4.
I personally don’t agree I think keyboards should be long gone as good as blackberrys keyboard is that’s just my personal opinion good video bud!! Will always support you
Passport was by far the best phone I ever owned. I remember going to Starbucks and making the Apple fan boys mad cause it had wireless charging and looked so dope! The speaker for conference calls was unmatched
Speaker phone capability is underappreciated by manufacturers today. I would pay a premium for a phone I could place in the middle of a small conference table and have up to four people speaking into it.
Im stll holding on on my SE Passport here. been fixed twice since the announcement of new device, so I decided to keep using this (along with my KeyOne) til new device is out...
hI! I have question about Passport. I recently got one from my Brother. Problem is, that after like oneor two weeks wehn I was skipping some setup and using it basicaly only as a video player, BB somehow locked in screen when pushing me to put inside SIM card. I did buy the SIM card from Vodafone but it there is another problem. BB see the Vodafone provider but is unable to connect to Data networks. I manged to connect to home Wifi but it doesn´t solved my problem. I am still locked in screen with this sh*t. Do you have a solution to that? Thank you very much
I sideload playstore to my passport and it work great, I put Google maps in it, and the battery discharge very quickly I took it off, and use the BlackBerry maps, I still have it, but the Google playstore doesn't want to update anymore, only use it,as a back up for my BlackBerry hub.
I only ever had 2 blackberry phones ever and that was the blackberry curve, both versions. After that I went to apple and then android. Now I use a combination an android device and an iPhone. I don’t see blackberry being popular again the way they were back in the day
i'm currently using balckberry q20 that can run in 2 os, blackberry 10 and android 4.3. I still using it for whatsapp. Still waiting for great news from onwarmobility.
As my Key2 broke down 2 weeks ago. I am now using my old BlackBerry Passport and although I miss the Android apps this device is still running perfectly. Still very good quality after 6 years. I even prefer this form above the Key2. #onwardmobility please have a close look at the Passport for the new device and please include the functionalities of BB10 in Android on the new device.
Kudos to the guy (forgot the name who was doing android on BB10 devices). Even though version was 4.2.1, but at least there was the light end of the tunnel....
Im still carrying my Passport every day! Im thinking about pulling the trigger on a Red one honestly.. My only issue is some battery drain when using Spotify but im not sure if its an OS thing or if its the age of my device. She hasnt had a lot of days off since i got it in my hands 4 years ago ahah
Greetings, I ask you, does your BlackBerry passport S E get very hot sometimes? I've had 2 and the first had some details that I could think of, possibly those details, but this one now just has a scratch on one of the bottom edges and it was due to the original Porfirio BlackBerry case. Just that detail and I don't know if the battery is bad but I have a classic and that doesn't happen to a charged one if it is stopped using it, it appears with a depleted battery, which the BlackBerry classic does not do.
It's interesting... I loved BBOS. BB7 was a work of art. The 9900/9930 was the best mobile device ever made. I don't "love" BlackBerry Android, but it's the best implementation of the Android OS, and the BB Android devices are exceptionally well made. Having loved BBOS and really like BB Android, why is it that I'm one of the few die hard users that thinks BlackBerry 10 was awful? Jonathan Mase knows BlackBerry.
I would buy a Passport running Android right now. I bought the Titan and while it is a fine phone the keyboard is not a BlackBerry keyboard. The Titan is charged and ready to use if my Motorola Z4 has issues and when I travel for a back up. But a new updated version of the Passport would makes us happy.
The Passports (I had two) were my favourite phones. The SE was the best just because of the classic silver accents. I think that back in 2015/16 an Android Passport would have been received in two ways - hard pass and a betrayal by BB10 loyalists (just like BBOS loyalists resented BB10) and excitement by people who already liked Android and, frankly, saw the writing on the BB10 wall. Today is almost too late for a lot of people. I have a friend who clung on to her Q10 for years past its day then got a hand-me-down Passport since she loved BB10 over Android and disliked iOS. When the Passport died she got a Samsung Note10+ and is very happy with it. She won’t go back now. This could be a problem for Onward Mobility - people have moved on and like where they are. I’m like my friend - I finally switched to iOS because I find Android messy and I’m happy with my choice. BlackBerry needed to find a good quality OEM to work with when TCL took over the name. That was a fail in retrospect. I hope OM can do better than TCL.
Passport form factor running the latest version of Android with up to date hardware, how amazing would that be! The Passport had what few phones since could ever have, uniqueness. Nothing looks like it, before or since. It dared to be different and as a result became iconic.
Couldn't agree more, I still have all my blackberries and am on a Key2. I would use my passport again in a heartbeat, I still keep it charged and I just wish it had Android.
Hello just wanted to say really like your channel especially about all the blackberries. I have a problem with my passport it will not accept my password password and it is stuck on try 6 I have reset it several times and it still keeps staying on the same screen istame screen also says enter BlackBerry But it still doesn't do anything hope you can help me out thank you
the BB Passport was the best phone i have ever owned and the only one i feel in love with! LOVE! my friends used to make fun of it and call it the "washing machine". I used to hand it over to tell and tell them to try it! they would put it in their pocket and be shocked by how well it fits, they would use the keyboard and would be wowed by it! one of them actually went and bought one.
I hope the new phone looks like a passport, if it looks anything like the key1 and key2 im gonna skip on it, cz i already tried that and i wasnt impressed.
I hope it won't be a Passport size, it is so unpractical format ! I only regret BB10 from the old ones, but I'm still happy to have it on Android if the BlackBerry survive :)
_I want this phone from the year 2014 but stock availability and not being Android is what stopped from buying, if its Android version gets launched believe me the first person to buy will be_

BUT.
The square screen is a BIG problem for third party apps, particularly camera apps. There is wide inconsistency in how apps detect landscape vs portrait, and many popular apps would only run sideways, no matter how you rotated the device. So there had to be a way to force an orientation and to allow toggling and make it tunable on a per app basis, and to remember your preference for each app.
It was all technically doable, but at the cost of a particularly unsatisfying user experience. Passport was by far the best phone I ever owned. I remember going to Starbucks and making the Apple fan boys mad cause it had wireless charging and looked so dope! The speaker for conference calls was unmatched
It was such an amazing phone
Agree
Speaker phone capability is underappreciated by manufacturers today. I would pay a premium for a phone I could place in the middle of a small conference table and have up to four people speaking into it.
Does Blackberry even make handsets anymore?
The last one came out in 2018. They have another one that is being made right now that should be out hopefully in the next few months
Im stll holding on on my SE Passport here. been fixed twice since the announcement of new device, so I decided to keep using this (along with my KeyOne) til new device is out...
Hi. Would you sell BB Passport SE?
Is there anyway it'll still work after after everything is removed? The text and calls?
Depends on your network
@@TechOdyssey I have TMobile
I'll say it again..
Passport is the best designed phone ever.
It's up there!
I agree.
I don’t see blackberry being popular again the way they were back in the day
They may not be as popular as they used to be and I'm ok with that. As long as they're around and I can get a new one, I'm perfectly fine
I will buy the Passport any time and one for my son too
Bro
you reminded me of my BB passport - I have both passports... I really want to use it :(
I have an older OS10 Passport. BB told me it cannot run Android, and no way to install Android in to that phone! I loved the Passport!
i'm currently using balckberry q20 that can run in 2 os, blackberry 10 and android 4.3. I still using it for whatsapp.
Still waiting for great news from onwarmobility.
Hopefully we hear something soon
As my Key2 broke down 2 weeks ago. I am now using my old BlackBerry Passport and although I miss the Android apps this device is still running perfectly. Still very good quality after 6 years. I even prefer this form above the Key2. #onwardmobility please have a close look at the Passport for the new device and please include the functionalities of BB10 in Android on the new device.
i would buy it - immidiatly - with 2021 specs and 2021 Android... i also accept when the give me different screen ratio for unsopported apps....
I would too!
@@TechOdyssey i think we ne a petition, collect interessting users and send it out to BB
Plz plzzzzzzzz suggest from were to buy I need one
Ebay is probably your best bet
You are absolutely right TechOdyssey. I loved my passport and I still love it, I need it to be re-incarnated. Please!!!
I wish. That would be great
Kudos to the guy (forgot the name who was doing android on BB10 devices). Even though version was 4.2.1, but at least there was the light end of the tunnel....
This guy nailed it. Give the phone android and good specs.
it's important to have a left-right screen split function for Passport-like android phone (include Unihertz Titan, etc).
I bought the key one black edition only because passport wasn't android. Loved my passport. Typing currently from keyone
Nice. I love the black edition
How I buy bbm pp se???
I have q10
Check ebay
I want one too...get it done!!!
I just learned that there are two passport design models out? I didn't know, could you fill me in?
Which months blackberry launch new phone india
Not sure yet.
Yes. I would totally love a new passport with android
I want another white one. It's a shame it doesn't work like before
I'd LOVE a passport return. Especially, if they kept the exact exterior design.
I would be super happy
Would you recommend a second hand keyone black for 160 euro in Great conditions?
Is it true? Passport going to be release in android os??
No. The title says "that never happened"
I hope it won't be a Passport size, it is so unpractical format ! I only regret BB10 from the old ones, but I'm still happy to have it on Android if the BlackBerry survive :)
This is great. But I also want a classic with all physical keyboard and may be touch option. Love from India.
Yes. I would love that. The classic is my favorite
_I want this phone from the year 2014 but stock availability and not being Android is what stopped from buying, if its Android version gets launched believe me the first person to buy will be_
Can we install Android 12/13 in BB Passport in duel boot mode or single os forcefully
This would have been absolutely amazing!
I love this phone. 😢 why didn’t they make it run android.
PP Engineering machines can now flash Android
