- Playthrough with Ryu, Morrigan and Cyclops. The PS2 version of this game was released alongside an Xbox version in 2002, and it would be the last Capcom/Marvel collaboration for 7 years, as the license between the 2 companies expired.
The PS2 and Xbox ports became a bit of a rarity, and prices for them remained high -nothing bank breaking, but they stayed in the $40-50 range for a number of years. However, in 2009, the game was released for the Xbox 360 and PS3. The value of the PS2 and Xbox versions plummeted and they can both now be picked up for next to nothing.
And then the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions got delisted, so the prices for the Xbox and PS2 versions went up again. Oh well. - Ігри

I saw somebody say that this version of the game had slowdown issues, but judging from the footage, there's no problem with it.

There’s definitely slowdowns from the versus screen to when the fight actually starts. It’s not too terrible but compared to the Dreamcast and arcade version, it’s fairly slow. Still want it regardless.

The main problem with mvc2 on ps2 is the awful compressed audio
People complain about the PS2 version because well… it’s the PS2 version. Meaning they’re making up stuff against the Sony system.
Whoever said that there was slow down issues with this version of Marvel versus Capcom needs to have their head examined I've had this game only once and I experienced no slow down
Only difference I’ve noticed is the sound will sometimes sound muffled other then that it runs smooth
Got this emulated on my Mac. With pcsx. Runs fantastic! I actually play it over my Dreamcast version.

The Xbox version is better
I literally bought the PS2 version brand new when it came out and returned it the next day due to the literal performance issues it had. When you do a DHC, or a Team Hyper Combo, or even have 2 assists called at once, the game drops frames, it slows down, it sucks.
It would be amazing if this was ported to the switch

If they will rerelease this, it should finally have 6button attack support, consolidated console features, an update that fixes infinites, and crossplay with rollback netcode.
I got this on PS2 for free. Has no manual and disc has minor scratches but worked last time I played it. Copies without the manual can still go over the $100-150 dollar range.
About that... last week I got my copy of the game on CeX for 62€ (I live in Spain btw). It had the manual and the disc with some minor scratches, and it works perfectly fine :)
Give it time, once Marvel knows where it's at with the Disney-Fox merger, this game will probably become available very soon for the PS4 and Xbox One. They'll definitely get some sales at least.

It’s the 20th anniversary since this game came out in arcades this year. If they don’t do it this year at EVO or any of the gaming trade shows like E3 or Tokyo Game Show, then it’s not happening. I’m gonna be hella fucking pissed if it doesn’t though. I don’t want to have to buy a $50 PS2 copy or download a shady Chinese App Store on my phone just to enjoy one of my favorite batshit fighting games ever.

You’re lucky your PS2 can still read the CD discs. My PS2 won’t load my copy only the DVD games.
Ironically the PS2 I used to record this died last weekend and has the opposite problem: it can play PS1 discs and PS2 blue discs, but can't play DVDs any more. Going to have to get a new one.

I've been tweeting Disney and Capcom to renew their license so they can get this released on current gen consoles. I'm tweeting them every day until they do so.
Hopefully we can get a "Marvel by Capcom" collection like the SF30th Anniversary.

Dreamcast version is better idk why they compressed sound effects , 2 players causes this version of the game to lag and there's more loading on this version, Capcom really didn't feel like porting this to the ps2/Xbox and it shows I would stick with the dreamcast version regarding ports.
Every classic MvC game was never impressive on the Sony consoles.
Even the ones before New Age of Heroes had limitations on the PS1.
Please stop, the PS2 is great. About the only difference I noticed was the softer image.

PS2 version is OK, but the Dreamcast version is the best.

Why is this game so fucking expensive... It's not even the optimal version to have.
The price did go down for this and the original Xbox version when the PS3 and 360 versions came out, but since they've been deslisted it wouldn't surprise me if the PS2 version price has gone back up again.

Both version are the same.. The PAL gives you option to run at 60fps just like NTSC version

It's more hard than the Dreamcast version in level 8, I finished the Dreamcast version on level 8 without using any continue with Cyclops, Cable and Captain Comando, but in the PS2 version I cannot finish, the CPU do a extreme damage combo (Like Sakura turning into her dark version) I want to play more the Dreamcast version.

I wish I knew what the direction of art was thinking during the production of this game. The backgrounds are totally random, the music is really shitty and the opening... Fuck. The only reason we kept playing this instead of the first Marvel vs. Capcom on the Dreamcast was the 4-button gameplay of MVC2 was way better than the 6-button one from MVC1.
