    In this video I unbox the new updated Longer LK5 Pro. This new version has the upgraded dual cooling fans on the hot end. I set it up and show my first prints. This printer was given to me for free for the purpose of review but I have not been paid to review it. This is my honest review of the product.

    The Pineapple vase and the Trilobugthing were all designed on my iPad using Shapr3D. I highly recommend this software, it is incredibly capable, intuitive and easy to learn and use. Check the following link and discount code.

    Try the 2 week free trial and be sure to use the walk through demo at the start, I learnt so much doing that.
    The 3D printing filaments I used in this video were ESun PLA+ and Eryone Ultra Silk PLA Copper, I purchased these from Amazon.

    CHEP just released some new fast Cura 5 profiles last week. Gonna get to playing with those later this weekend.

    I would love to have a machine like that I just don't have a place to put it but the art that you make should be in a museum it is absolutely gorgeous

    Looks great, Jim. I'm glad you like it. Now I'm tempted to buy one but I have too much else going on at this time.

      I am really enjoying 3D design and printing, it is a great low noise, low mess way of making things.

    Jim, this is a real cool review of your new printer. Btw. If you still getting these problems with blobs, you might want to look for settings in the slicer about _mesh fixes._ If you increase the settings it leads to less micro-steps needed to move Hot-End. The whole problematic and its solution is described in this video by your fellow colleague Stefan from CNC Kitchen:
    _(How) I finally got rid of these blobs!_

      Glad you like the review, the extra start G code to disable power loss recovery completely solved the problem.

    Jim , I am new to 3d printing and having issues with Raft removal. Can I ask what your raft settings are?

    • @JimsonMakes
      @JimsonMakes  Рік тому

      I just use the standard default raft setting on Cura. Generally I don’t have any trouble but sometimes the layer adhesion can be a bit too good with certain filaments at higher temperatures. 3D printing can be frustrating at times but the more you do the easier it gets. Many thanks for watching .

    I bought the Longer LK5 Pro and I'm using the PLA filament but I'm having trouble of the first layer breaking away from my project is seems to stick hard do you have any ideas to why it is doing this please

      Is this in vase mode? If it is, then it is a common problem especially with silk PLA on all glass bed printers. Silk filaments are a bit notorious for poor layer adhesion. The problem is the walls are too thin and delicate. If not in vase mode, it could be due to either your nozzle temperature is a bit too low for good layer adhesion or your slicer settings are making the walls and/or base too thin. Try higher nozzle temperatures (I mainly use eSun PLA+ at 215 degC). Higher temps give better layer adhesion but can cause a bit more stringing. Make sure the glass bed is fully cold before removing the prints. I sometimes put the bed and print in the freezer for 15 minutes before trying to remove it (make sure it has cooled to room temp first). The other way is to print with a brim or on a raft, it is easier to get the scraper under a raft or brim without damaging your model. The bed on the LK5 pro gives very good adhesion which reduces failures but can give issues when removing prints. The “stickiness” will reduce with use. Application of adhesive stick before printing can also help with removal. The problem with diagnosing 3D printing problems is that there are so many variables. Many thanks for watching, I hope I my tips help.

    I recently bought this same printer a while ago. I know nothing about 3D printing! Maybe you can help. I'll download files and put them on the micro card, but the file name never seems to change. It'll print out what I want, but the file name doesn't change. How do I get the proper file name? Thanks.

    • @JimsonMakes
      @JimsonMakes  Рік тому +1

      When you slice the model the gcode produced will be given a file name by the slicing software, this will always have the same set of letters or numbers at the start, change the file name to remove this prefix and then save to the memory card. A lot of the display units on 3D printers only have enough room to display the start of a file name, hence they all look the same on the printer unless you change them before saving. The gcode file name will be displayed on the lower left of the screen in Cura.
