It's good but probably could have done without the lights/light up emblem.

Damn, as a trained bookbinder (God this job is dying) I'm really impressed by that work!
Very well done
I've always wanted to learn bookbinding, it seems like the perfect job for a book lover.
@@jacqulyynw yeah me too , i wonder where i can learn it
Thirding having always wanted to learn it and wondering where to?
@@littleleakyleakythere if you're in Europe you can apply for a cap in Normandy or paris in "reliure" or there's a DNMADE in école Estienne. Otherwise there's le Vésinet but you have to pay for those and then you always have the option to ask a bookbinder if they'd take you as an apprentice.
Honestly, this sounds like a perfect candidate for renewing interest via social media. Set up a UA-cam channel, place your phone on a tripod while you're working and just have at it. Make it calm, with lower range vocal tones and maybe some voice over narration to describe your processes, and I guarantee there are people who would watch it.
It would be really cool if you add one of those built-in bookmarks where it just has a ribbon attached to it, it would also be cool if you put a ring tied to the end of the ribbon
That way you can keep the ring of power with the book as well as make it useful
“I wanted to give my book a real leather cover, anyways, one silversmithing later, here we are!”
That’s nuts. If I had the money, theirs a couple books I’d love to commission this kind of work on. Simply beautiful.
Same
Why commission when you can learn it yourself
@@Steph.98114 all the equipment is so expensive for something you'd do like three times, especially when they are more likely to get a better outcome from an artist. Thats not even addressing the time it would take when your career isnt in craftsmanship and you have other things in your life to worry about. Weird question ngl.
@@octavia8836 not a weird question, all kids have shop class where I am from and when I was 11 all of us got to do knife handles and sheaths. Leatherwork and copper inlays. All knifes looked good at the end. You don't need a lasercutter for 3mm wood. A jigsaw and time works well too. It will not be as good as Nerdforges result but it will look good enough.
Skilltree also did several scratch "tomes" for dnd and/or LARP.
Now that books value went up a few thousand dollars. That's some professional work.
Calm your cringe down,
No one would pay thousand dollars.
@@hummingbir6 You underestimate the crazies of the book collector community.....
@@ryukin_iiiBook collectors are collecting vintage original books, not regular books dolled up to just look pretty. The value vomes from the originality
Easton press makes a leather bound LOTR 5 book collection with 22kt gold embossing, foiled pages, actually sewn in, and it’s like $400
@IDiggPattyMayonnaise it's not the value of the book itself. It's the value of her skills and knowledge of leather work, metal casting, etc and the time and effort it goes into doing something like this. Hand made things are far more valuable and expensive than mass produced factory made things. Especially when they are done well and are one of a kind.
should have someone paint the sides of the pages!! looks sick
That's an amazing idea to make your favourite books truly unique to you.
“Sorry, I will be a bit late to the book club I have to charge my LOTR book.”
Valid.
I really hate to come into an awesomely perfect project like this, and start talking about "YoU ShOuLd HaVe".... but she really should have put a few LED's along the edges (and maybe have a little slide that let's them raise just about the depth of the pages) so it could light itself up too.
I only say this because she already broke out the LED's for the cover, a couple on the top or side would just be fucking amazing.
The hair coloring change makes me respect just how long this took. Keep up the amazing work and craftsmanship ❤
Omg yeah! I DIDN'T NOTICE- Tysm for telling us lol
Now I want to make an entire bookshelf of books like this but how I identify them is by different symbols on the back/different clasps.

Now if only Amazon and Wizards of the Coast cared about Tolkiens work this much
Im probably missing something but how are Amazon and WotC related? Or tie back to this? I genuinely wanna know cause this comment stook out to me and Im clueless lol
@@izzyq9200amazon made the "rings of power" show and WotC just did a magic the gathering X LotR cards. Thats all i got for context, maybe this helps.
@@izzyq9200 Wizards of the Coast decided to completely disregard and disrespect the original vision Tolkien had for several of his characters in their depictions of several of the characters. For instance, they made Aragorn black despite him being SPECIFICALLY described in the book as being fair skinned. Simply because they wanted to “be more inclusive”.🤢🤮
@@defendedshadow9664 seems kinda weird to reduce Aragorn’s entire character down to his race when it’s irrelevant to the entire story
