I do not own any of the content in this music. All credits goes to Soulfly. I am only posting it so as many viewers as possible can see and appreciate it.
"We sat outside the studio at night Among a few candles And closed our eyes for a minute After that, we jammed Straight from our hearts We didn't play for ourselves But for the ones no longer with us in flesh But always with Us in spirit God bless Until we meet again Soul fly... fly free!"
Was having horrible anxiety and listening to this album. Then this came on and boom. Gone.I felt relaxed and good again. Strange that a piece of music can do that to you.
I have an MP3 of this on my phone that I listen to on a regular basis. Except that I edited out the last 45 seconds of nonsense. If you like to listen to this song on a loop, that ending totally ruins the mood. I've been loving this piece of music since the album debuted... nearly twenty years now?? Wow, that's hard to believe. It just hit me how long it's been. This album and Primitive are two of my all-time favorite albums.
i understand why you took of the last seconds, but it is some percussion and chant from an afro-brazilian religion called candomblé, that hás a big influence in Max music in soulfly. search some other candomblé music and im sure you Will understand why they put it on this track 😊
I'll never forget this track playing in my friends mother's car, she was driving and had never heard soulfly before. But she said, "this sounds like the discovery channel", lmao
+Kenny Ross It's portuguese words at the very ending... "Chamou meu pai?" it's "You call me, father?" and the beginning it's something like "Caô cá de exilê". That I can't figure out what is... but is probably some Macumba canticle.
I was looking for this information for years and now you remind me to keep searching and I found it! It's "Kaô Cabecilê", an expression in nagô that means "come salute the king", the king in this case is Xangô, the Justice Orixá... it's from Umbanda mytholgy... there's an interview (in portuguese) when Max said he was inspired by Umbanda and all the spirits stuffs when he came with Soulfy, also his mother is practitioner of umbanda/candomble.
My favorite Soulfly song.
No matter how much time passes I'll always come back to it.
Indeed
likewise, you just get lost in this song

@@joselopez6990 Yeah, decided to check it out again cause of it! Soulfly really is something more than just a music band for me at this point.
This is the correct word, it feels "fresh"
I saw them in ozzfest 98 and then in August 98 witj Spineshank hed pe incubus and snot in Roseland ballroom ny Crazy show.
I love when heavy albums have this one soft, melodic, dreamy track
"We sat outside the studio at night
Among a few candles
And closed our eyes for a minute
After that, we jammed
Straight from our hearts
We didn't play for ourselves
But for the ones no longer with us in flesh
But always with
Us in spirit
God bless
Until we meet again
Soul fly... fly free!"
Yeah... It is definitely an emotion. The eye of the storm for me. One of my favorites. 2:43.......🙏
One word sums this track up: Tranquil. I love it.
Was having horrible anxiety and listening to this album. Then this came on and boom. Gone.I felt relaxed and good again. Strange that a piece of music can do that to you.
Common Man horrible anxiety? Great, that's its intention, to make you angry to rise to seize your place in this world.
Music is the only thing that keeps me from saying 'there's no such thing as magic'.
great song,great period,great times......1998.
Questa prima Soulfly è insuperabile, un vero capolavoro.
Sublime.
Max you are a spiritual man....really!!!
Very soothing.. takes you to a place out on the Great Plains with the winds blowing gently through the grass, and the sky is limitless...
Like in Breath of the Wild
Sepultura, once again, has brought me back here. It's been a long time.
Too long.
This has some awesome feeling,as if the band is going on a musical journey but sitting in frozen time dreaming of a never-ending future of existence.

I look forward to the tribal camp fire feel at the end. Good on you for editing it though.

where is the old picture ?
You have to calm down Ma'lady.....I like you and don't even know you....
2:43...
What's the lyrics at the end?
I think it's the language the Xavantes tribe speak in. Sepultura worked with them on the Roots album too.
+Kenny Ross It's portuguese words at the very ending... "Chamou meu pai?" it's "You call me, father?" and the beginning it's something like "Caô cá de exilê". That I can't figure out what is... but is probably some Macumba canticle.
I had a feeling it was going to be Portuguese but I honestly thought it was the Xavantes language. After 18 years of hearing the album I know now lol.
