Although I asked what a ‘while’ in his terms means, he didn’t really specify an exact time frame, but he's thinking weeks rather than months.
He feels this is a great time for him to take a break, recharge and rejuvenate and he’s looking forward to spending some time writing new original material.
So for now, he temporarily leaves us with another beast of a song by Slayer.

This fucking song has always been my favorite slayer song. Going on 20 years now. And hardly anyone knows it because they never picked up on this album. Sick, sick cover. Im working on getting better and i want to tackle this song next. Im definitely referencing this a lot.
Like yourself, I know it bro. I’ve had this down on my kit since it first dropped, such is my love for it. The ones whom are unaware are the fans of everything Lombardo. No disrespect to Dave because he changed the game with his work on ‘R.I.B.’ However, I prefer Paul Bostaph’s compositions with SLAYER. More technical, more precise, superior double bass chops and much, MUCH more power. ‘Divine Intervention’ was a great intro to showcasing his technical skills and a much needed addition re: Slayer’s sterility at the time imo. ‘Undisputed Attitude’ was mainly covers but ‘Gemini’ was no exception.

Fuckn Hell man. Bostaph should stamp his approval on this. Undisputed Attitude was a rad concept album being all covers but the last track was what I’d always go to. His stylish fills & time signatures are class grade A. This has always been a track I’ve never attempted due to the complexity. Your choice of snares along with wood versus nylon tipped sticks are a great detail to these tracks you choose to share. Like one of the comments made, this is a drummer’s song. Justice brought.
I'm a little ashamed to admit that Slayer is not a band I have ever actually gone out of my way to listen to. But see, I have this theory. Based on the overwhelming number of songs you've covered that *are* beloved to me, I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy anything you decide is worth playing.
So yeah, Slayer has now been added to my list of bands to explore. Thank you for broadening my taste in music!

Word. It’s bullshit that Paul has to live in Lombardo’s shadow. Dave has my respect for his pioneering work on ‘R.I.B.’ but Bostaph is a much more capable drummer. Technicality and power for days.

@@danpitts152 Good call bro. Dave wrote some good stuff in his prime (title track off ‘Seasons’ springs to mind as a great drumming song) but tbh he just lacks the technicality, brutality, power and the double bass chops of Paul.
