That IS impressive,I reckon just being successful on a lift let alone the weight attached is impressive.Olympic lifting isn't a random sport that you can pick up and be good at straightaway. It's definitely one of the hardest sports to learn,if not THE hardest.
@thechosenone93 absolutely, I am a very naturally flexible person, it took me 3+ sessions of attempting snatches to stand the bar up without taking steps forward. The bar, and I'm flexible. Now 5× the weight, half the natural mobility, and give them a gut, theyre FUCKED. No normal person is snatching 100kg, it is impressive, even if andrei aramnau snatched 200 in comp at 20.
My max snatch is 60kg and it's clearly because I'm 35 and definitely not because I eat like shit and skip my accessory and technique work. Woe is me lads
I'm definitely mediocre at weightlifting, but I'd rather do this than say powerlifting. Am i ever going to snatch over 100kg? Maybe if I put my head down and grind. But it's also just fun to do. Turned 30 this year and I intend on doing this for as long as I can
Truth is, weightlifting is much simpler than earning a master's degree, renovating a house, or a raising a kid. The insular, individual nature of the sport means that sociological factors, e.g., race, class, familial status, languages spoken, don't really matter as much as you may think. Literal billions of people are working 60 hour weeks just to keep their heads above the water, especially if they're working-class, living in an underdeveloped nation, or both. Weightlifting has a much more rewarding effort-to-result ratio than most other things in life, so go ahead and send it.
Great episode and lots of good points. Really felt that weightlifting doesn’t give you anything. Really gotta make sure you’re doing your accessories. Also loved the mountaineering analogy having been binging that content lately
The real endgame is stainless steel with aluminium or (if you have money to burn) copper core. It maintains the non-stick properties, durability and resistance to chemical agents of stainless steel with a much superior thermal conductivity for impeccable heat control and fast reactions to changes in temperature.
Started in 2017. With a job that is almost impossible to train July-November, busy December-April, and manageable May-June, I really only find myself training hard 2 months a year, and just working on my squat and press the other 10. It forces me into an off season/on season approach like many sports and it’s made the time I have snatching and clean and jerking more enjoyable because I look forward to it, and every year I come back around to it with better physical attributes. Snatched 135 last summer, got injured this summer and didn’t PR, but my squat and press has blown up, so hoping next summer to hit the big 140
The Freak Athlete Nordic pro (new version) will be even more stable. I love my current version. The moving parts are "just" pop pins. Not sure if they'd cease in high humidity. Bit of oil from time to time, perhaps?
i suck at weightlifting because the staff threatened to terminate my membership for dropping weights 🙃 can't afford any other gym so guess it's back to just general strength training
The problem for weightlifting as a hobby, by yourself, its hard to correct technical mistakes. Even in the power clean it can be easy to end up pulling from the wrong position. Where as a deadlift, yeah, it has a technical aspect but you get away with more.
I powerlift so no worries upsetting me. I do agree that most people dont understand their true ceiling. Its always 225 bench, 315 squat, 405 deadlift. Those are bush league numbers if you are truly training and weight more than a pencil.
I thought I sucked because im 6’2 with a HUGE wing span and long femurs but through hard work and reps after reps after reps I am almost at a 100KG snatch which seemed impossible when I started a year amd a half ago
Most people will suck at olimpic weight lifting as it is highly technical and you will need the phisical intelligence to learn and grasp. Moreover and do not have the strength or explosive genetics that is needed. Olimpic weight-lifters snatches more than most people will very deadlift in their life, ponder on that!
I suck at weightlifting because i used to train and compete in weightlifting and powerlifting simultaneously and i was strong at both, so i blew my back to hell. It took 6 years now but i finally rehabbed my back to 100% and im working on rebuilding my range of motion and flexibility so i can suck at this sport again. Ive learned nothing and am looking forward to destroying my body at 40 all over again.
@zerog4261 why lie? We all know that type. I am that type. Swear I'd do everything different when I was in pain... now that I'm not in pain, I'm going to do everything the same lol.
I don't suck at weighlifting, the grandma at my gym said my 80kg C&J is impressive.

If you are under 80 kilos sure. "The grandma" lol😂

For me, it has to do with the coming vernal equinox. Not because I caught the flu or something silly like that.
I suck at weightlifting and immediately clicked on the video
Started at 38 and 50 now. It's so much harder, and any gaps in training sets you back a lot. Constantly being in pain is tough to deal with
truth, it's a young mans sport. The ROI for sacrificing your health for numbers on your total diminishes the older you get.
Pain and injuries and long recoveries from setbacks are pretty rough. I’m 45. But it’s still doable if you’re expectations aren’t too high
@@TheDrizzCAKEN yeah but its just so fun. way better than power lifting and a ton better than just working out. i think i will give it one more year

Golfers everywhere: “Positive interaction with golf!?”
Weirdly validating of my decision to only concentrate on the clean

I'm 23 and don't have any arms or legs. Could I snatch 100kg?
How did you type this question?

REVERSE HYPER TIME LET'S GO BABYYYYY! :D
I chose weightlifting after wrestling and MMA for the negative social aspect to work on the business. I am happy the coaches agree 😅

Man I fucking LOVE Olympic weightlifting theres really no feeling like getting 300 pounds overhead it makes me feel like a GLADIATOR
I literally googled "why do I suck at weightlifting" last night
Hexclad non-stick + stainless are pretty great, too! Sears and doesn't stick. Easy clean!

Yeah I suck at weightlifting. On the other hand, I use stainless steel pans so definitely not a *loser*.
