i totally agree. had a 12-1 Mage deck with just 1 meteor, and it single-handedly won atleast 3 of those games. its almost impossible to play around and it is a brutally efficient removal/ board clear even when it is usually overkill (you never need 15 damage or just hitting 2 minions)
honestly if i were kripp i would consider killing myself after the last meteor in the paladin game. would go for the instant concede into 0 mana jump off the bridge card

I've always considered Polymorph/hex to have an advantage over damage-based removal when dealing with big threats; as the target's HP is irrelevent (fireball wont remove Ancient of War, or Ragnaros) AND, more importantly, the minion is effectively silenced. A fireball won't take out Ragnaros, but Polymorph will. Throwing a fireball at a Sylvanas might actually be disadvantageous. If I fireball Savannah Highmane, my opponent gains 2 2/2 beasts, if I poly, he gains 1 1/1 beast. And I don't like Uther slamming 15 damage to my face with Assbringer (from Tirion Deathrattle) Of course, Sylvanas and Rag are gone from both constructed and arena. Soooo.... I guess polymorph effects are just kind of getting phased out of the meta due to inconsistency.

This would bring the card in line with other powerful board clears that do collateral damage to your own minions. Meteor is actually pretty common. Every mage I've drafted had 2 meteors or had the capability of generating a 2nd or more meteors. It is unfortunate that the other epic released for mage is Primordial Glyph, so that you are very likely to get one of the two for your Epic pick. It doesn't matter if you lost 2 mana worth of tempo when you can flamestrike on turn 5 or meteor on turn 4 xD. All I can say is I called it on hearthpwn :P.~

That drawback has been gone for a while now. These days, you get a mage down to one card, and it discovers three more cards that in turn discover another card or two each. To call this frustrating is an understatement.
Is there a occurence bonus on discover effects? Because I've noticed that I have the choice to take pyros almost every time I discover an elemental playing as mage
