I just learned about you by researching my current favorite coin. Your commentary is sweet as heck and you earned a subscription from this vid at the very least.
I've been inspired! Was in Vienna today, and after watching your video last night, I thought a Thaler from the local coin shop was an appropriate choice of souvenir! Beautiful coin, and its weird how a fairly modern coin feels like such a part of history! Love the sheild design especially . Maria is a big deal in Vienna, with gardens, streets, and huge statues dedicated to her that I passed after buying the coin. Thanks for the Vid and the inspiration!
I’m new to those variety of coins. I have never seen that before. First thought when I see that is that- wow- that is a huge coin. Amazing that it is dated 1780 in MS!
When you throw it onto a table the typical silver-"pling-ringing" is a nice indicator, while non-silver coins have a kind of "smack"-sound. Easy fast test for silver, but works best with larger coins.
The Bhutan coin is certainly the least seen on youtube. Back in my early collecting days, the 1780 restrike thaler was quite common and I picked up several at under $4 each. Some are proof and all are in perfect mint state. I would love to know more about the mints that made them and when they were minted.
Really beautiful coin, I just picked some up bacause I like the history of them. Another interesting fakt about the coin is that it was a conversion Thaler for the German currencies at that time. The X behind the year stand for 1/10 of the Köllner Mark. 1 Mark were 14 Prussian Thaler or 24.5 Bavarian Gulden.
2 of these coins (Maria Theresa Thaler restrike) were given to me in a garage sale 😀 (i just asked the price and the person didn't know nothing about coins) and i also thought they were fake🤣 but they are silver made !
restrike or not it's still a very beautiful coin : ) great for anyone's collection. i very much appreciate the history on it, a piece i would have picked up no doubt. and what an awesome deal on it. i would like to see the yeae of the dog next week
Great news discovering it is real. She is what I would call a handsome woman. She looks like she would be respected for sure.Great bit of history there today. Thanks a bunch fella.I would like to hear more about the piece from Butan my friend.
lol so epic!!! Find the seller and buy all their fake lots with this coin!! LOL! I just got 2 in Saudi Arabia and was researching it and found your video! lol :D
Brilliant! Always love when someone makes a good profit without the seller being disappointed or none the wiser. Great history as always! I’ll vote the Emu, please. 😁
Cheap? Uhm ... if you buy them they cost around €20.- which is many things but not cheap. You lose half of those 20 bux the second you bought the coin as its buy back price is €9
@@BackyardBullion O yeah, if you have private sources to buy then definatly they are a good buy. Im just a sucker for the Austrian/Hungarian and US designs is why i buy them. Else i never would buy that far from spot.
@@BackyardBullion hi it was gifted for me from my Grandfather when I was 4 years old, but why not if any buyer's can pay a good money why not of course I would like to sell it Maybe I can buy a Helicopter 😱😃😃😃😃hahahahahaaa👍

They are very satisfying in the hand that is for sure.
When you throw it onto a table the typical silver-"pling-ringing" is a nice indicator, while non-silver coins have a kind of "smack"-sound. Easy fast test for silver, but works best with larger coins.
I love that coin so much, I now have two. Thanks to the silver forum! I vote for the elephant please.

Yes indeed - this will make for an interesting video when it wins!
Awesome crest indeed. Another Bhutan vote please
Thanks for the vote!
Interesting coin, thanks for showing. My vote goes to the Buthan dog.
Thanks for the vote!
Oh Very nice ...I also have that One 😇
Just to clear up. These coins weigh 28grams and they're 83% silver so the silver content is 23,25grams? thanks!
Very nice
Pretty cool when you get something for free.. or almost free. I vote Bhutan not for the dog but for the dragons he he...As then I might get one
£1 for 3/4 oz of silver? Yes please! Thanks for the vote!
Got several Thalers, nice coin. I vote Bhutan for next focus
Thanks for the vote!
Great share and I vote buthan coin !!!
Thanks for the vote!
I’m pretty sure these were also Re- Struck in silver. I have one. Also have fake Morgan’s made of silver
Some times people use lower grades of silver to fake a coin - giving it more of a look of a genuine one, but still fake.
Backyard Bullion Yes, just because it contains silver it doesn’t mean it’s genuine.
lol so epic!!! Find the seller and buy all their fake lots with this coin!! LOL! I just got 2 in Saudi Arabia and was researching it and found your video! lol :D
This coin is gorgeous!! An the price you paid, more so 👌👌
Yes indeed - very cheap and very nice!
The H is definately silent in Thaler.... I got one too. Not 100% silver though
Yes I agree that the H is silent. They are 83.3333% silver.
Brilliant! Always love when someone makes a good profit without the seller being disappointed or none the wiser.
Great history as always!
I’ll vote the Emu, please. 😁
It was nice to get it as a free coin, means more to me now!
I have had this coin since 1990 - what is it’s worth in U.K. ???
I also have a bang but the 1760 one
More countries should do restrikes. Many of todays modern coin designs leave alot to be desired
Thanks, EMU please
Thanks for the vote!
ok haven't heard about whats going on with the Emu coin so it gets my vote
Thanks for the vote!
I have one coin 1780. I ask this real or fake? Pls.reply me tnx
How could I possibly tell you without seeing it!
@@BackyardBullion how can I sent it to you
Im not sure that is a good idea.
Probably made in the 50s. Fun fact, all thalers after 1780 are still dated 1780, the year the Queen died. But ya, still silver
Its a two headed eagle ?
Hi I would like to send you a photo of a strike that I think might be one of the earlier strikes.
The older restrikes were used like trade dollars! I vote the emu because Australia lost a war to them ;)
They were basically the trade dollars of the middle east. Thanks for the vote!
Cheap?
Uhm ... if you buy them they cost around €20.- which is many things but not cheap. You lose half of those 20 bux the second you bought the coin as its buy back price is €9
Yes, if you can get them for the right price they are good. They hold good value in the after market if you are not after a quick sale.
@@BackyardBullion O yeah, if you have private sources to buy then definatly they are a good buy.
