i am a great fan of the smooth and "fruity" Blüthnersound, the mysterious "Alliqote" is more a Voodoo than necessity for the special tone. Many piano builders remove the fourth string when they restore an old Blüthner. The pre-war instruments, when they are well restored, are preferable in new, and especially those from GDR times. instruments An intact Blüthner from the 20's to 40's is the best choice.
beautifully played. i have heard that Bluthners are particularly good for accompanying singers because their voices don't get lost in the thicker textures of a fazioli or steinway. when i heard bluthners I get a sense of listening to a sound originating "in a box" and the way some of the overtones are less present im curious if it would allow the singers voice to shine through more?
Yes, the playing was fine. But I was surprised because only the piano appeared in the movie; the player was nowhere to be seen. I know that Blüthners are good, so what?
Glad You asked! I am playing a physical model of the Blüthner Model One, developed by Modartt authorized by Blüthner, and I am so impressed with the sound of this digital replica that I wanted to present a recording with it. At first point I wanted to keep it a little bit of a surprise that it is a digital replica, to make possible a completely unbiased reaction to the sound. So that´s why I am not in the video. If You are interested to read more about this physical modelling technique, which I find tremendously rewarding for all of us not in possession of a proper Blüthner Model One and other excellent instruments, You can read more here: www.pianoteq.com/bluethner You can hear some of my other recordings using physical models of keyboard instruments here: ua-cam.com/video/YYf0_M_zHrM/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/KmeEyUgP7Jg/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/Vz-pQIPcAsQ/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/nl0YtoxrKOg/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/L6K1KRhsZOo/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/eGJPSIoeb2g/v-deo.html I am very interested in hearing what You, and others, think about these physically modelled digital replicas. Are they good enough to enjoy listening to? All the best, Jon Liinason
Jon Liinason yes. Its truly amazing work - digital replica. I finally got pianoteq 6.1 and very happy with it! Thanks you for your videos. It's made me get right decision. I have also eastwest bosendorfer. Both are awesome!
Hi Alexander, sorry for a late reply, did not see this until now. Glad you like the videos and very happy that you have made a decision that feels right! :) I too love these instruments. All the best, Jon
Loooots of microphones, loooots of tweaking, some reverb added. Unfortunately, I have not saved the presets... But I can really recommend adding and moving microphones around until You are happy. It will take som time, but it will be worth it. The standard presets are, well..., a starting point! Cheers,
You've done a fine job here, and your instrument sounds very good. The sound is honestly not much like a real piano - there's a lot of "atmosphere" missing, and the individual sounds don't combine in the same way as they do on a real piano. And at the same time, this actually sounds *better* than a lot of the poorly-maintained or lower-quality pianos so often heard.
Thanks for commenting David! I agree, very few real instruments sound this "good". And the ones that do, are unaccesible to most people... so a good start at least, accessible for most people! Cheers, Jon

Excellent playing!

Wonderful playing! I have got my eyes on Pianotech for a while, but yet not bought it. Impressive sound.
Kind greetings,
Thomas
Thank You, glad to hear it! Yes, Pianoteq has got some impressive instruments! :)
Hi there! I just added the Blüthner to my software. Man yours sounds amazing! Which preset did you use? Did you move any microphones?
