I live 45 minutes from their distillery. The wine cask is likely sourced from one of the wineries on the 151. The cider probably comes from bold rock down the road. I also turned one of their casks into my current whisk(e)y storage container. Fantastic place, fantastic people.
I'm a native virginian and this was the first distillery I ever toured back before I knew anything about whiskey. Really glad to see them make an appearance on here. It's a great place with great people
I found the cider and port finished at my local Virginia ABC store today. Picked up the port finished and I like it. Honestly it tastes like straight scotch finished in port but there's nothing wrong with that. Pretty happy with it.
I really enjoyed these when I visited the distillery. The beer finish was different when I tried it though. They're putting out some really good whiskeys there & I can't wait be able to visit the distillery again.
I drank the Cider Cask last night. I enjoyed it. It had the scotchiness with hints of smells of apples and the orchard itself with the trees/wood, and the ground, almost a Virgina Petricore of the Virginia Orchards during a dry summer day.
just moved to VA and visited the local VABC and saw a few of their bottles, picked up the Port Cask and thought "hey, wonder if the guys did a review of these yet"
Two questions. 1. When the Japanese bottle Scotch and call it Japanese whiskey, is the whiskey that is sent to them also teaspooned? 2. Is there a minimum percentage requirement for the amount of different liquid added to a whiskey? What I mean is, if you have a million litres of whiskey but only but in literally a teaspoon of something else would that be ok or is there a legal minimum amount of additional liquid that needs to be added?
How about ya'll do a month of Rare Whiskey Fridays,... then you'll get all caught up! (because lets admit it, all the bottles you've been reviewing would count)
Remember to do a Stauning Rye review one day. Fantastic Danish terroir, liquid rye bread, floor malted, lots of tiny stills heated by fire - it caused a lot of fuzz with a Summerton Club subscription where people gave it very high scores.
Guys please. I know real estate can be expensive (and I like the live-edge "box" you currently use) but can't you get a slightly larger table to work off of?
Has that watermark always been there? It's bugging me so bad as it goes across the bottles... I can't read their names. I swear I'm not a grumpy old man.... I don't remember the watermark or whatever it's called... Being there.
I was looking for a review of Balcones Single Malt and saw the boys’ episode 6. Ah, the tame and boring Rex. Not a single whine from him during the 3.5 mins that Daniel talked while his glass was empty. In fact, he was even participating. Either he was a really good faker or genuinely interested. Oh, and he was wearing the shirt (I think) that led to the “sausage in a table cloth” episode.😂
LOL. What a beginning of the video. Love that you guys keep the out-takes so often.

The cider casks come from Blue Bee and Buskey!

Thanks for this review! This distillery is local to me, they're great. Very cool seeing these guys make it to y'all.
I have friends in Fredericksburg, VA. Would they be able to grab this at their local liquor store for me?
The VHW line is excellent - the cider cask is by far my favorite! It's perfect for sipping on a nice fall day 👌
I've been thinking about trying to get this cider finished whiskey, so this review is much appreciated!
I've had the cider and port cask versions. Enjoyed both, preferred the port finish. VA Distillery doing a great job.
I love working at VA Distillery Co
Great folks with a genuine goal. I love the Port Cask myself
Does anyone know if Nancy Fraley worked on these whiskies?

just did the same, just 9 months later
Look out it’s Friday. Where are Rex’s sun glasses?
That Cider Cask one is tasty. Cheers!

So close to that flawless victory Rex, so close

Day 5 and they are already obliterated from shooting from the sheer number of whiskeys
@@Acesian perfection
They’ve addressed it. Too much drinking on one or two days, they’re being cautious with drinking too much.

GOOD MORNING YOU MB'S... 🥃
OOPS... it's afternoon now... oh well... it is our 27th anniversary today... so no clock needed or desired...

Love Virginia Distilling Co!! Those guys always make great stuff. Hope they can score wider distribution soon. :)
The captions: welcome to the whiskey balls!
Me: yeah that seems about right...
Virginia in the House! Its a great little distillery and worth the visit for those in the area. MBCV!
have you reviewed all the Texas Whiskey Trail distilleries?
The Cider cask finished is on sale all October at the VA ABC store
How do you think the Cider finish compares to Compass Box Affinity?

So, if you hadn't told him, Rex and Daniel would have guessed "Speyside" for the Chardonnay finish. Interesting.

It’s rare whiskey Friday!
Last time I was this early I was two hours late lol
How does someone who doesn't like apples pick the cider finish as his favorite?
Was that dickens cider barrels?
Damn, I live in Virginia and the cider finished was on sale last month so I was going to get some but I've been drinking less and never did.
Emma....... they changed out your whisky again......................................
Can someone explain the teaspooning thing they were talking about in the beginning?
They will put a teaspoon of a non-Scotch whisky into the tote/barrel so it's no longer legit Scotch.
Take that ale finish and try a whisk[e]y sour!!!

Tonight I'm drinking Old Forester 100
the distillery is only like 30 min from me

Daniel a true mooch would have just drank both at the toast not switched glasses. Come on man. You can do better
