After listening to this, Dr. Avrum Bluming of 'Estrogen Matters' and some of your other videos, I am beginning to get a clearer picture of the pros/cons of using HRT 10+ years past menopause. If only all doctors, paraphrasing Dr. Twyman, 'saw the patient in front of them'. I guess the only thing I was left wondering after watching is, what are your benchmarks for starting a women on HRT 10+years who is experiencing the bone, heart, brain problems of reduced estrogen; must they have perfect CAC, Carotid, CCTA scores? Were does the risk out way the benefit for this population? Thanks, terrific video!

This is an absolutely incredible video! Is there any way to list what tests (blood or othrwise) , in what order we need to take post menopausal. I am a little confused about what all I need . I understand it depends on the person but a general idea.

Boston Heart Diagnostics and Cleveland Heart Lab have the advanced cardiovascular labs. There are over 300 metrics so no easy way to list them all out. Just check out their websites for the list of labs
I would love to talk to this cardiologist about heart attack prevention for those of us that are ER+ / breast cancer, and have to take anastrazole. Please have him back to discuss this. ❤
Focus on what you can control. Keep nitric oxide optimal. Support the glycocalyx. Keep oxidative stress and inflammation low. Lower Apo B particles if above 70 using combo of lifestyle, supplements, and medications. This is the starting point. Advanced labs can tell you what other items to focus on
This was a superb interview. I learned so much, both from the content shared but also thanks to the excellent delivery and interaction of both Doctors. Thank you very much. Dr Doug: please bring Dr Twyman again for a deep dive on CVD.

Loved this interview - learned a lot. Would be interested in learning more about an 80 year old female with osteoporosis interested in taking BHRT. Also with my family heart history I was glad to hear about the CACS test. Thanks so much.

This was one of the best explanations ever of the sclerosis of artery and the prevention. Thank you so much. My doctor wanted me to take cholesterol lowering medication 20 years ago...When you are young it is very hard to sell the idea that is for prevention. Unfortunately, doctors either don't have time to explain it or don't know how to sell it to the patients. I have been on PSK9 for 5 years now. Nothing else worked for me.
Best info I have ever heard about protecting women’s cardiovascular and bone health with possible hormone treatment! Sending to my two perimenopausal daughters. Thank you!!!
Thank you for this great interview with Dr. Twyman. I did not hear anything being discussed about taking supplemental calcium for osteoporosis being contraindicated for heart health due to the possibility that it will contribute to plaque buildup in the arteries. Maybe that can be a topic to discuss with him in another interview.
@@Dr_DougLucas Great! I had to recently start seeing a cardiologist. He told me to take absolutely no calcium supplements of any kind even though I told him I had osteoporosis. I told him I take K2 also to assist with calcium transport to the bones. He said he only endorses taking vitamin D; he does not feel that any other supplements help and that calcium supplemenation is linked to a high risk of heart attacks and strokes.
Hi Dr. Great discussion thank you. Please if you would consider having another video conversation about aortic disease and aortic aneurisms and oesteoporis as well. That is a topic not discussed and one that needs to be reviewed as there are very few dr. sharing this information with their patients. This is a much more common issue that people realize. I unfortunately am one of those patients recently diagnosed and struggling with the details of what to do. I am on the verge of needing open heart surgery unfortunately to replace my bicuspid aortic valve and repair an ascending aortic aneurism. I have also recently being diagnosed with oesteopenia and oestoporosis with no medical bone doctors are available to support for the oesteoporosis in my part of the world at this time due to long waiting lists. I am therefore, trying to find information to guide myself through. As I am limited on what exercises I can do at this waiting stage for surgery. I am not sure if vibration exercises are safe or if I can lift too much as I am 1 mm away from the need for that surgery. I also deal with chronic pain and fibro so this limits my ability to do much. I am just shy of 50 yrs so I am still quite young. Dealing with the reality of needing blood thinners from the surgery that may be life long as well further has the potential to negatively impact my oestoporosis issues. So a video on such questions and addressing such issues would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for what you do doc your support helps so many of us out in the world siffting through all this.
I loved this but I can't get my cardiologist to do these tests in Toronto. Statins, BP meds and off you go. How do we ensure we can get some of these tests?

A pdf and what specific tests to ask your cardiologist for, especially when your doctors don’t support anything but the medicines for osteoporosis

Depends on age but a CT Coronary Calcium scan is a good start for most. If score 0 then low risk. If score over 400 then high risk
