Believe it or not I'm 50years old and today is my first time cooking smoked Turkey tails mainly because I have been incarcerated most of my life. But I must say I followed your video step by step and my dinner turned out delicious. Thanks mrs, lady much luv.
Finally found someone that cooked them on the stove. I usually cook them in the slow cooker but tomorrow i need my slow cooker for something else but still wanted my turkey tails and green beans. So now i know how to cook them on the stove. Thank you!
I cook turkey tails all the time I boil them for two hours and then I put them in my air fryer for two and a half min on each side it browns them up real good plus it gets a lot of the water out from boiling
Hey sis! I'm back!! 🤜🏽🤛🏽👏🏽👏🏽👍🏽👍🏽 I'm using brown rice and added celery to my veggie mix. Oh btw, i ate a tail with mustard....uuuuummmmm. It reminded me of tripe. Yummm
I am 34 single look to make some turkey tails and lady when I say you before I even hit play I knew you was going to take care of me. I saw my mom and grandma in this video I say all that to say THANKS they came of beautiful 😍
I’m making this tonight! I think I’m gonna stick my tails in the broiler for a couple of minutes on each side after they’ve cooked to give them a nice char before serving.
Thank you for giving me an idea for the turkey tails I got from a food pantry recently! I did not know how to cook them, and yours look delicious! What about all the bones in the tails? Do you debone them?
If I don't throw up... That was the time I used to hear older women in my family say when they were cooking. It does not sound appealing at all-trust me-but what it means is the food is going to be so good you're going to over indulge and eat so much till you get sick and throw up. I have no idea if that's an old school southern term or not but I know the woman in my family are from Georgia.
Turkey tails are addicting. Sometimes I would buy the plain ones meaning the fresh ones and other times I buy the smoked ones. I actually prefer the plain ones because then I can make my own flavor with it. Also the smoke ones have sodium nitrite and other types of preservatives which are not so healthy
I love smoke turkey tails but do you struggle removing the feather follicles that are deep down in the tails? Any advise....I bought a tweezer for it but it wasn't strong enough.
Hi Felicia :-) Love that southern flare recipe! "What the fang dango" LOL!!! We lol when you said that! We liked and subscribed to your amazing channel! Best wishes... 😊👍
Very good! Do you kitchen, I'm boiling turkey wings and tails right now because i didn't know I could prepare them that way! should of watched your video first! Thanks!
I suggest keeping them on medium heat or a low boil (simmer). It's already smoked so bringing it to a boil then simmering it just allows the meat to rehydrate and heat up where it's tender and/or falls off the bone (if you cook it long enough).
Ok I will. My wife makes them for me it's one of my favorite meals but I like sugar in mine my rice and beans be sweet as well as my meat but I wanted to make it myself today while she is at work it's smelling so good
@@sharifjohnson361 sounds good, but if you wanted to add beans, and is ok with canned beans, they are pretty tasty too. You can add some of the turkey broth, and chopped up turkey pieces to the beans for added flavor. 😊
I like your video with the exception you didn't tell me how much rice or water you put in your pot with the turkey tails, and also you kind of hurt me when you said the word throw up, when you was tasting your food it did look delicious God bless you Sister
Hi you are so cute and fun to watch! I want to follow your recipe but I think a few things are missing...was it just water you boiled your tails in and next how much water did you boil them in and how did you prepare the rice? Thank you
Hi Nikky thanks for the comment! In the ingredients it list to use 4 cups of water, add the sauteed onions, peppers, seasonings, and tails. Let the tails boil until tender. After the tails are done, use 2 cups on the broth from the turkey tails and 1 cup rice. Cover the rice bring to a boil, lower the heat to simmer, and cook for 20 minutes. Let me know if you have any other questions! Enjoy! ☺☺
They can be pull out pretty easily after the tails are cook, sometimes you lucky and can pull a couple out before cooking, but it's way easier after. Try buying some food tweezers, that will definitely help. :-)
Aniyah di Lioness Hi, yes I recommend it, I never cooked them from frozen before, but I read that meat cooked while frozen has less flavor. And for me I like rinse them before I cook them.
No, I just took some out and have placed them in cold water. Low and slow however, when cooking frozen meat. Even fish can be cooked from freezer to stove. I am making turkey tails w gravy and rice, fried cabbage, corn bread.
It's not salty, the turkey tails are boiled, that takes out a lot of the salt. As far as over cooked, that's the theme of my channel "do you kitchen" you don't have to cook any of my dishes exactly as on the video, you can you use them as a jumping off point, everything has room for improvement, or adjustment to your taste. The idea is to just have fun cooking. By all means add your feedback as to how you like to cook your turkey tails and greens, you can even add a link to your channel or whatever social media you use to share your recipes, we're all here to cook. :-)
sorry ma'am but greens are supposed to be bright green. That means all the nutrition wasn't cooked out of them. The way southerners cook greens, much of the nutrition is lost during over boiling. i suggest you try the way Kenyans and Ethiopians "cut" and sautee their collard greens. anyway, just sautee them and add lemon zest and juice to maintain the bright green color. And season your cooking oil. dont use vegetable oil, nor maggi cubes. use beef tallow, grape seed oil, coconut oil or even organic lard...but never vegetable oils.
I don’t think it’s fair that you say it’s not right the way she cooks them. The history here in the U.S. is the way we make them. It’s a preference and nothing is wrong with that
LMAO $25 for those who can't cook and don't know what they are supposed to taste like....bc no one in through mind who knows how to would pay for that smh

I’ve cooked fresh tails before but not smoked (& smoked is Much easier to find). I’ll have to try. Might put one of them in some black eye peas too.
I really hate living in a small town. None of the grocery stores in my town sell turkey tails. As a matter of fact, I had never even heard of them.
I have never heard of turkey butts before.
Did you cook the rice separately or with the turkey tails?
Most likely separate. Rice dont take to long to cook.
sounds delicious. Willing to try it.
Thank you! If you try it, let me know what you think. 😊
I'm trying this.. just bought my smoked tails at Walmart..
Lita cook Cool beans! Let me know how it turned out!
i make them with egg noodles or just eat them plain with bbq sauce to dip. Yummies 😁
Yummy 😋

Some people use a lighter and burn them off.

Let me know how they turn out. I love em that way, straight out the pot with mustard! Yummers!
Do you let them boil for 2 hours? Do you start as a boil and simmer or just simmer for 2 hours?
Thank you, looks delicious.
You're welcome! If you try it let me know what think
You never said how high to have the heat on the turkey tails
I suggest keeping them on medium heat or a low boil (simmer). It's already smoked so bringing it to a boil then simmering it just allows the meat to rehydrate and heat up where it's tender and/or falls off the bone (if you cook it long enough).
Never had turkey tails 👏🏾
They're really good and easy to cook.
You're missing out.
Prissy P thank you!
Prissy P ... Omg!! They are delicious!! ...meaty and tender with a perfect amount of fat! I love the balance!!
SO DELICIOUS
Boil the turkey tail for 2 hours?
I'm making these right now

Do you put the lid on the pot during the 2 hours that the tails cook?
Yes, you don't want the water to evaporate. 😊
Do the turkey tails need to be thawed before added to the water?
