- After a random copyright claim , which of course had to happen the moment the video went public (nothing in unlisted state prior), ruined the premier of this video :/ But at least now its finally here to be viewed again. Special thanks to Censored Anon for making this video possible / @censoredanon8928
What's interesting about "Poor Hansi" is that even if it's supposed to be imitation Disney, it looks like its main inspirations were the Fleischer "Color Classics" and Harman and Ising's "Happy Harmony" cartoons for MGM. In fact, it looks like the basic plot for "Poor Hansi" was quoted from Hugh Harman's "The Discontented Canary" from 1934.
Thanks for introducing me to the Periwig maker, really fits into that niche of bleak plague media. Btw if someone wants that setting as an game check Parthologic out
Also wtf Maja is Japanese my mind is blown, I mean "Heidi" was too but that is better known fact
Thank you so much for this video, Antoons and Censored Anon! When I saw your video on french animation it really got me thinking where all the animation from my home country is. I did a bit of searching myself but this video is the most informative and detailed look into the history of german animation I have seen so far. It makes me happy and proud to see that my country has contributed a little to the ever evolving art of animation. I remember often watching "Unser Sandmännchen" on the KiKa channel right before going to bed, this brought up alot of nice memories from my childhood :)
Yes! It's reuploaded!
You guys did a great job honestly! I really enjoyed it!
Always love to see these, and your awesome amount of research you put in. Bravo!
Honestly the Maya the Bees movies look soo good. Did Maya need a remake? No. But IF you need to do one that is the way. Very cute animated and beautiful shaded with a wholesome story.
awesome video you guys!!
>German cartoon animation is still young in Germany
Does this mean Hungary is more civilised than Germans?
Special mention to the 1997 movie "Die Furchtlosen Vier"/"The Fearless Four", a modern adaptation of the Grimm fairy tale "The Bremen Town Musicians".
Good job on the reupload! And right on time for the end of a school day.
Nice to see nothing that's not political, about drama, or a defbed. keep up the good work antoons!
Maybe you could look at Irish animation next? As I'm Irish and Irish animation is ignored.
@Carlos Alberto Garrido González or Roy
IGNORED?! Hey, you guys made Song of the Sea, The Secret of Kells and Wolfwalkers for crying out loud! How come we ignore you after what your country did?
@@AnimationFanboy2k4 compared to other countries, Irish animation isn't really talked about.
@@joshproductions07 Don't worry, Irishman, maybe someday Irish animation will recognize by everyone!
great video 👌👌👌
since you made this i realized there are non videos like yours about german animation.
yeah, nobody talks about animation history of these countries, so I thought why not do it ourselves
I love when you do these videos, you should do one all about stop motion animation, one day.
“To be honest, only cartoon I think Germany is maya and the bee and that’s.”
GREAT
I was hoping germany would have more gothic expressionist animation. I do have the magic voyage on vhs and I loved it as a kid
Hi. Thanks for all the work, but you left out a lot and gave some things way to much importance (the current cgi maya the bee is commercially very successful, but the 70th animation version (which was made/coproduced in japan, as well as wicki the viking and heidi), has influenced a whole gerneration of kids. The brothers Diehl (Paul, Herman and Ferdinand) were masters in puppet animation who made the first long puppet animation movie in 1937 DIE SIEBEN RABEN and Curt Linda had his own animation studio (distinctive own style) in Munich, (from the 60-90) that not only made the Konferenz der Tiere movie. Some animated shorts worth mentioning KILLING HEINZ (1996), Mobile (2010], Rising Hope (2012), Das Rad (2001), Ein Münchener im Himmel, Neighbourwood (2016). Though it is not strictly animation, but what we would call Trickfilm, we have a lot string puppet shows (every show by Augsburger Puppenkiste is excellent, as well as Robi Tobi und das Fliwatüt). Popular cartoon characters are by Loriot (Wum und Wendelin and many other characters), Otto Walkes Ottifanten (a movie, a series, many shorts), Käptain Blaubär (animated shorts in kids tv shows and a cgi movie). This article may help you further understand the history of german animation www.germanfilmsquarterly.de/special_report_amimation.html.
Thank you for this comment, we will add all these missing entries in the video that covers the pieces we missed.
