I'm just glad they didn't try to make Thomas Wayne out to be a villain again. I'm sure plenty will try to spin him saving Joe Chill's life to as something bad but an important part of Batman's character has always been him having his father as a beacon of goodness in his life to always guide him forward. Other versions of Thomas Wayne I've seen that warp him into a villainous figure just damages that Batman story overall and I hate it. Keep Thomas Wayne a good father.

Mikel Janin's artwork has improved drastically. Before his work looked very stale and kinda lifeless, like everything was traced over 3D models but here it looks absolutely stunning. The linework, the shading, the faces, the backgrounds. It looks much more organic and natural, I'm stunned. I couldn't believe it was Janin book. The coloring is also stellar, incredibly moody and atmospheric. Almost noir-ish in some way.
This is going to be a wild ride, and I haven't read a Batman comic in years. This certainly brings me back to the fold. Initially, the villain appears to be the Scarecrow, and I want to lean into that, but the introduction of Scarlett makes me think that she is involved in some manner. Connected to Crane in some manner? Time will tell. I guess I will buckle up.
I like that addition, I think its great. Better than having some random joe doing the killing, while that is fitting, I love seeing little parts of these stories expand
WOW! This video was unbelievable and I really enjoyed it. Tom Taylor's Nightwing run was one of my favorites and I definitely think that this Batman run will be spectacular.
It makes sense. The moment you mentioned it was about the batfam and it might be controversal I knew it had to be something about Joe Chill, and once we got the flashback that sealed the deal. It makes sense though. So many people / creators and whatnot just call batman crazy, but have 0 idea what Trauma actually does to people. Can't wait to hear people cry about this one now.
Now that’s one hell of an ironic twist there… Thomas Wayne saving the life of the man who would later kill him & his wife, Martha & make his son, Bruce an orphan and ultimately Batman. But also, why do I have the feeling and this is just a potential prediction theory that Batman’s new villain is probably going to be Scarlet because introducing her as a new character along with this new serial killer/ vigilante seems bit too coincidental… especially if you include that quote where Scarlet mentions to Bruce that “some lives are worth more than others” which goes against Batman’s “save everyone no matter what” philosophy and also how this new mystery villain seems to target young criminals?.. just a prediction theory though.
Finally!!! This story gives Joe Chill an actual connection and reason to be the killer of the Waynes!!!! No more Court of Owls and Mob hitman nonsense.

Thomas’s self righteous code is what ultimately kills him but now we see a duality in his life and death from Joe chill. Adding this lore shows why Bruce’s believes in his code so much, it’s because of his father’s influence, paving the way for Bruce to become Batman. It’s not a big change because it doesn’t affect anything major but it’s a good lore to add to Thomas and Bruce’s relationship that we haven’t seen.

Ok… that reveal definitely shocked me.. I took a moment…took a breath.. and gave it a little thought…. You know what? I think this was fuckin well executed and actually a great new story twist that has a lot of potential for more deep philosophical ideals to break through the story!

This gives Batman/Bruce a level of pure godlike restraint as those words, although good, have caused him so much hurt, but turning into the Batman has equally done just as much good. But at the end of the run, hopefully, the only question left should be: Was it worth it?

Very very possible. Could Joe Chill have actually targeted the Wayne’s because he found out they hid his child from him? That would be a foundational shift for the Wayne’s backstory, but extremely interesting if it does go that direction.

Bruce truely is the sum of their parts, he has Thomas's morality, drive and stuburness. And he's got Martha's compassion, need to protect and desire to use his money for the betterment of others. The scene with Joe Chill reminds me of the story the soilder who just as WW1 ended could've snuffed one german soilder as he was walking past him on the battle field but decided not too and turns that german dude was the 40s angry mustash monster.
The brave and the bold series had him selling to the Gotham villians and batman told Joe chill that he killed his parents and then Joe chill got away from batman to the villians and told them what happened. The time Bruce got to spend with his parents is something we haven’t really gotten to explore and I hope we see more of it
