      @flyiinghost2071 2 роки тому +6

      Firing every repetition is a stroke a 2 stroke fires every cycle but only 1 cylinder is in use vs 2 for a single explosion. That's my take on it anyway.

      @@flyiinghost2071 Yeah but firing 4 cylinder with a single explosion wouldn't make it a 0.5 stroke engine, would it?

    • @innengine-english

      From a cycle point of view it is certainly a 2 stroke engine. The issue with calling it a 2stroke, we found, was that people would intantly assume things like it run with oil in the mixture (which it doesn't), or that the exhaust port closed after the intake (which again, it does not), or that it could only deliver so much power. In the end we found easier calling it something else, and we didn't come up with the 1-Stroke tag, it was suggested by an external ICE institution and we kept it because it sends the right message in terms of power and, to be completely honest, because it was catchy!
      Thanks!

    It's just another axial engine, with a cylindrical cam instead of the more popular swashplate, in a two-stroke opposed-piston configuration. It will have all of the usual disadvantages of axial engines plus the bonus of the mechanical nightmare of the cylindrical cam with multiple roller followers, with the combustion characteristics of the two-stroke opposed-piston engines which have been built for almost a century. The variable phase difference between the induction-end and exhaust-end sets of pistons is the interesting feature.

    Hi
    I can appreciate the better primary and secondary balance which is always the case with face cam or swash plate engines which is good. You have only shown the combustion part of this unit I will require a compressor for it to be able to run as is normal.for any opposed piston two stroke, I saw somthing claiming it to be a one stroke unit which it most certainly not. The nearest it could come to being a 1stroke is to have a combustion event on both sides of its pistons thus being a double acting two stroke. I am shure you will be able to improve on its power as 20 horse power is only half of what a single cylinder yamaha is caperbull of, usually more cylinders means more power what kind of BSFC are you seeing after factoring in the power required to run the compressor
    Good luck hope to see more in the future

      Good point. It does use a scavenging pump which on the current prototype it's using 6kW when the engine is producing 92kW. Bear in mind that at the end of the day, in a conventional engine this work is being consumed by the pistons themselves, which are less efficient at pumping because they have not specifically designed for that. Or perhaps resonance intakes and traditional 2stroke pipes? If the former, seems there’s huge potential for electric super chargers driven by the traction battery in a hybrid setup. I believe this was the favored setup in the return of the F1 KERS tech. OEM’s are starting to adopt it as well. Again, very exciting engine!

      There is a lateral load on the piston where it pushes on the cam so the tendency will be for the bore to wear into an ovoid shape. The more torque required from the engine the harder the lateral load. In this design it appears the diameter of the piston is maintained for stiffness and short stroke are chosen to minimize this wear.

    Interesting. I like it better than a Wankel. From my experience in rebuilding engines, I see a few areas of concern.
    1. There would probably be more unburnt gasses left between the exhaust and intake cycle as it is not cleaned out as well as a typical ICE..... inefficient, more pollution.
    2. Probably not suitable for high rpm because of awkward swashplates.
    3. The end piece rotor slope seems more limited than the crankshaft 'throw' on a typical ICE.... less imparted energy.
    4. The pistons would need to be slotted with guides to keep them from rotating.... engineering problem with both piston and cylinder walls.
    5, The biggest difficulty I see is the tight tolerances required to keep the piston roller bearing on the 'cam' from 'chattering' as the piston goes up and down and causing premature failure. The slotted cam rotor plate, is a one piece item, subject to temperature variation, requiring precision engineering, with no means of adjustment later.

      @@AugustoV8Cesar I have no idea what rpm it could make, only to say it seems to require cumbersome components which would probably be difficult to balance and would therefore limit it's rpm.... components which a regular ICE does not require. E.g., the swashplate and cam arrangement which move the pistons.... far more awkward than a typical crankshaft/connecting rod arrangement. Also, the surface contact area of a typical ICE con-rod bushing is probably 100 times more than the contact area of the equivalent components (rollers) in this design.... severely limiting it's life. I can't imagine this engine ever going 100,000 miles in a typical car. I still haven't seen how the pistons are kept from rotating in the sleeve. If groves/guides in the cylinder/piston walls are required, this just adds another level of complexity.

    it is obviously a two stroke engine, as pistons have strokes, while the shaft has revolutions: the even number of cams, necessary to achieve dynamic balance of pistons, also works as a shaft speed reduction, which may be useful or not, depending on the application (not so much when driving an electric generator, but advantageous when driving a propeller. It would have been more transparent to show that a blower is necessary to feed the inlets. What I do not understand is the second part of the video, which looks identical to the first, just titled "3 stroke"!!!!!?????
    I would also be curious to understand the actual use of the "advance" adjustment of the second cam: this allows modification of compression ratio, while additionally moving the distribution diagram, exhaust vs. intake, not forgetting the possibility to adjust the boost pressure, which is not of immediate understanding with respect to operational requirements at varying loads. Maybe not needed in range extender application, but desirable in a car engine.

    the Australians have huge engines like this generating electricity. seem to me it's a two stroke. if it was a one stroke the piston would fire in both directions. which means the piston would be fixed on a shaft with piston rings on the shaft and piston

    • @WolfeSaber
      @WolfeSaber 2 роки тому

      I believe the one stroke is when the crankshaft made a full 360 or 180 relative to the piston firing. After all, a two stroke for a traditional engine is when the shaft made the piston go around a few times before it can fire again.

      @@WolfeSaber a one stroke a would be firing each direction so the piston would have a combustion chamber on both sides.

      @@WolfeSaber so your saying a stroke is 360 degrees
      a stroke is from top to bottom then another stroke is from bottom to top that is a two stroke

    It's not too bad for an axial 2 stroke, but you had to fit a supercharger.

    Sorry to say.. its already been done.. & by the way.. 3 cylinders gives much better power density.. AND.. you havent a clue where the uniflow 2-stroke derives its efficiency gains over all other scavenging configurations.. your flat top pistons.. grossly inefficient

    • @innengine-english
      @innengine-english  2 роки тому

      Thanks Errol,
      That is not the engine itself, it is a simplified simulation. The actual engine has active ignition prechamber technology and (good spot, by the way) the piston heads have a spherical cavity to favor both squish and swirl effects + uniflow scavenging. We do understand 2 stroke engines, but that would be a bigger conversation. The Center of Thermal Engines of the Technical University of Valencia has independently analysed our tech and they seem to be pretty impressed by it.
      Thanks for watching!

    ¿UNA INVERSIÓN CON FUTURO QUE PODRÍA HACERTE RICO CON POCO DINERO?
    Según la Agencia de la Energía de Estados Unidos, las reservas de litio para construir baterías se agotarán en 2025. Los ingenieros de algunas marcas como Toyota o Nissan ya vislumbran el futuro del coche eléctrico y, como dicta el sentido común, no será enchufable, sino que llevarán a bordo un pequeño motor de alta eficiencia, asociado a un generador para producir energía eléctrica. Un sistema que estará asistido por una batería más pequeña y liviana, que además no tiene por qué ser de litio. Con ello se solucionan tres serios problemas que presenta el coche eléctrico enchufable: el primero es la limitación de autonomía de las actuales baterías de litio, el segundo el largo tiempo de recarga de las mismas y el tercero es que las infraestructuras eléctricas de nuestras ciudades son muy insuficientes para suministrar la corriente eléctrica necesaria para recargar una gran cantidad de vehículos eléctricos, ello sin contar con que además, en las ciudades, no todo el mundo dispone de una plaza de garage para tener disponible un cargador para su vehículo. Los verdaderos entendidos en la materia opinan que el motor INNengine nace precisamente en un buen momento, ya que se trata de un motor que desarrolla una gran potencia, que pesa mucho menos que un motor equivalente convencional, que puede funcionar con hidrógeno o combustibles sintéticos y que además viene "como anillo al dedo" para construir coches eléctricos no enchufables, como el Nissan Qashqai e-Power, que con toda probabilidad serán los coches eléctricos del futuro. Y es que la ideología woke y su agenda 20-30 están muy bien para escribir ciencia ficción, pero cuando uno se da un baño de realidad, la tecnología y la ingeniería dictan otros caminos.
