    Now for some disclaimers/corrections
-Sorry for the occasional audio glitches, unfortunately wasn't able to go back to location and refilm those bits.
-I believe my neckbeard is period accurate, that's my excuse anyways.
-Obviously all the weapons are props - couldn't legally own a sword even if I had that kind of money for one

Fun fact: Píšťala means flute, or whistle (the latter being etymologically close) and it most likely spawned the word for a short firearm - pistol.
But if I'm not mistaken, the píšťala was soon replaced by hákovnice - a hook gun. It had a 90° claw on the underside designed to catch on a wagon, a wall, or that shield, to transmit recoil there instead the shooter.

It's an often repeated myth that early handcannons were ineffective. While inaccurate from more than 50 yards, they do very well against most armor of the age (which was pressured to improve). They were shot only when the enemy was close enough, ensuring they pay a heavy price for trying to close in.

I didn't think the backgound scenery looked like central Europe. The gum trees were a bit of a give away.

I know this video was supposed to be about Medieval combat equipment, but that hoodie at the end is what really betrayed your status as a supremely cultured man.
